Uzalo actress Thuthuka Mthembu has managed to win the hearts of Mzansi TV viewers. Judging from the comments she often receives after posting photos on social media, the star is one of Mzansi’s favourite stars.

But as much as fans love her, she has made it clear that there should be a limit or rules on how they celebrate her.

Thuthuka, who plays Nonkanyiso on the soapie, said some fans went as far as kissing her on the mouth, which made her uncomfortable.

“I love my fans deeply. But sometimes they put me in an uncomfortable position. There are different incidents where some of them go as far as kissing me on the mouth. For me, this is not right,” said Thuthuka.

The actress added that she did not reprimand her fans whenever they kissed her because she was afraid they would be disappointed.

“Being celebrated is hard. And people are sensitive towards celebrities. It is easy for them to judge us. To them, it’s like we are living in another planet. Imagine telling an excited person to stop what they are doing? That would be interpreted as rude or arrogant. That’s what I sometimes go through. I have to smile and pretend that everything is fine, whereas it’s the opposite.”

Thuthuka said a hug was fine, but a kiss was a big no-no.

“I think fans must be taught how to treat celebrities. I don’t know who should teach them. But they must know that celebrities have rules and feelings as well. I know that without my fans, I’m nothing. I regard them as my bosses. But they must know that we must treat each other in a respectful way,” she added.

She faced rejection from her mother-in-law Gabisile, who disapproved of their union due to her social status and ended up in a polygamous marriage.

Nonka freed herself from oppressive shackles and divorced Sbonelo to attend college. She attended college with younger classmates who chastised her for being old age. Despite all the setbacks she faced during her studies, Nonka passed with a Diploma in Administration to become the first Xaba family member to graduate.

When her life looked set through bagging a regular job, Nonka was fatally stabbed with loan shark MaThabethe ‘Pamla Khazi’ after a confrontation over the confiscation of her tablet. Like every traditional being, she turned to MaMlambo, a traditional healer and sangoma for cleansing and appeasing ancestors.

She finds herself in deep trouble after inheriting Njeza shares at the Mhlongo distillery, where she gets herself implicated in a case of a missing Vlogger Nomzamo.

Having witnessed Nonka blossom in front of our screens, actress Thuthuka Mthembu is younger than her on-screen character; she was born on 28 October 1998. She is a qualified actress with a degree in theatre at the University of KwaZulu Natal and is currently enrolled at AFDA to study directing and scriptwriting.

Thuthuka Mthembu was raised by a single mother who hardly met her child’s needs, and she thrived on returning the favour and built her mother decent accommodation. She earns R18 000 per month for playing Nonka on Uzalo, the most-watched soapie in South Africa.

Thuthuka Mthembu was left heartbroken after rumours spread on social media that she has died.

The 23-year-old, who plays Nonka Xaba on SABC1’s Uzalo, was horrified to see people claiming she died in a car accident.

Thuthuka said the fake news hurt her, as well as her family and friends.

She said she was shocked that people would make jokes about others dying.

Speaking to Daily Sun, she said: “I’m alive and kicking. I’m not ill and I was not involved in a car accident. The news didn’t only hurt me, but also my loved ones.”

She said she was shocked when she and members of her family started receiving calls from people wanting to know if she was really dead.

“What hurts me most was that news outlets even ran stories saying I was dead without confirming it,” she said.

Sources said some Uzalo actors panicked when they heard the news. They tried to call her but couldn’t reach her because the cast was still on holiday.

Thuthuka said her acting career was thriving. She will soon appear in a comedy film titled Grade 13, which will be shown on Mzansi Wethu.

She’s not the first actor to be declared dead by social media.

Similar rumours have circulated about her colleagues Simphiwe Majozi and Masoja Msiza.

The alleged Uzalo actress Thuthuka Mthembu‘s Twitter account has been under fire after it posted a snap along with a broken English caption!

There was a hashtag that was seriously trending on Twitter, the #IamSingleBecause challenge. A lot of people participated in the challenge and it was really entertaining.

Uzalo actress Thuthuka Mthembu is a graduate.She has completed her degree at Afda, where she majored in motion picture and television production.
