Why actress Dawn Thandeka King is not returning to Uzalo

Thandeka Dawn King who is known for playing MaNgcobo in Uzalo has rubbished reports that she’s returning to the SABC1 soapie.

This after media outlets reported that she could be making a surprise return to the popular soapie this past week.

Sources claimed that the actress was approached to make a return to the show along with Ntokozo Dlamini, who returned to play Mastermind, and Bonga Dlamini who plays the role of Mkhonto.

“After so much public outcry about the script and actors of Uzalo, the producers have decided to bring back their old characters to revive the daily show.

“First, they brought back Mastermind, who is played by Ntokozo Dlamini, and now they are in talks with Thandeka. Also making his way back to the soapie is the character of Mkhonto,” said a source.

Dawn has currently taken some time off from DiepCity where she plays the role of Thandiwe.

The actress who is off-screen due to a knee injury said:

“There is no possibility of me going back to Uzalo because I am on Black Brain and I am currently on DiepCity.”

A local publication has reported that actors on Black Brain’s DiepCity are allowed to work on more than one production at the same time.

“I will go back to set when they want me back … I was injured on set and I am recovering from that injury,” she said.

Dawn resigned from Uzalo in 2021 to pursue other acting opportunities and to focus on her spiritual calling.

“I have been a sangoma since 2009.”

Nomfundo Zondi who is the spokesperson from Uzalo said she doesn’t know anything about her [King] being written back into the show. It must be something that is still in production.

She added that she will check and revert.

Rasta finally opens up

Controversial visual artist ‘Rasta’ speaks about dealing with critics and turning hate into positivity. Painter Lebani Thaka David Sirenje who is better known as Rasta has bagged himself a few TV adverts and a tender to paint Mzansi’s celebrities.

Rasta has been trolled for his portraits as they don’t really look like the people he is trying to depict.

He’s trended for his portraits of HHP, politician FW de Klerk, and recently trended for his painting of legendary actor Patrick Shai.

Lebani told the publication that he started sketching when he was seven years old and realized he liked art.

“Some of my teachers assigned me to do charts in class and hang my art on the walls. My classmates also commissioned me to do artwork for them.”

I went to high school at Magwegwe Secondary School, where art was a practical subject and I was no stranger to some of the learners. I harnessed my love and skills for art there.”

He also tells the publication that he’s painted almost everyone dead or alive; legends across Africa and the world at large.

He also says he’s sending his work overseas as well, and he can safely say he’s done over 400 portraits so far.

His agency, Romance Films, has secured him two major advert campaigns, his latest being with Chicken Licken.

He also has a Ballantine’s whisky advert alongside DJ Shimza (Ashley Raphala).

The adverts mock or make fun of his work, which is something that goes hand in hand with his creative exploits.

Rasta says that critics are a stepping- stone for him.

“I’m humbled to keep my cool and soldier on every time I’m being attacked. If you aren’t moving, people won’t say anything about you. I’m a soldier in art – no one can win the battle.”

They both posted on social media saying they couldn’t wait to celebrate their wedding with friends and family.

“Due to Covid-19 Theo and I had to postpone our wedding celebration until next year. But we couldn’t wait to be husband and wife!! Yesterday I married my best friend. We can’t wait to celebrate with family and friends … but we will have to wait a little longer,” wrote Vourne on Instagram at the time.

Police Confirm Jabu Mahlangu Has Been Charged

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates star Jabu Mahlangu has reportedly been charged with negligent and reckless driving and fleeing the scene of an accident. According to TimesLive, a case docket has been registered with the Benoni SA Police Service following the soccer star’s accident.

Mahlangu was involved in a car collision a few days ago. His BMW4 series reportedly collided with a Toyota Hiace Quantum that was filled with passengers.

Reports have revealed that two passengers were seriously injured and 11 had minor injuries. Mahlangu’s lawyers told City Press that the former soccer star was admitted together with the other passengers who were rushed to the hospital after the accident, “We have not seen him yet. The only thing we got from his brother was the confirmation that there was an accident in the early hours of the morning.

Police Confirm Jabu Mahlangu Has Been Charged

“It looks like there was more than one vehicle involved. They suspect that the occupants of the other vehicle might be injured too. Jabu is in the same hospital [with some of them],”
However, the EMPD spokesperson Lt-Col Kelebogile Thepa told TimesLive that when the EMPD and emergency services personnel arrived at the scene Mahlangu was not there.

“It has further been established that he was not even part of all those injured and who needed to be transferred to hospital. So an inference can then be drawn that, in the absence of any of the following, he would have fled the scene, and then that is a criminal offence,

“A case docket has been registered with the Benoni SA Police Service (SAPS). As of now, we do confirm that there are two charges brought against him, one being the reckless and negligent driving and the other being fleeing the scene of the accident,” the publication quoted the Lt-Col.

Idols SA season 17 winner Berry joins Kalawa Jazmee

THE Idols SA season 17 winner, Berenike “Berry” Trytsman Berry, has officially joined record label Kalawa Jazmee.

The label announced the news through a statement, formally welcoming Berry.

The 31-year-old mum of four and wife from Cape Town won the singing competition last year, walking away with R1 million in cash, a recording deal with Kalawa and other prizes.

“It is with great pleasure that we officially welcome Idols SA winner Berry to Kalawa. Berry, who had a stellar season showing incredible range and versatility personified in her hit song Ungowami, joins the top 5 from season 16 as a core part of the artists that will continue Kalawa’s track record of making impactful music,” it read.

Musicians, directors and co-founders Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa and Zynne “Mahoota” Sibika said they would not box Berry.

“We don’t box our artists to one genre. We allow them space to grow and develop as artists,” said Oskido.

“The music industry has taken a different turn. Music is released every hour so to stand out, one requires loyalty to their brand as well as versatility,” said Mahoota.

Berry said she was excited about joining the label.

“I am grateful that I have entered a space and record label of legends who have a record of making great music and the university that has built superstars. I am quite sure that my brand is in safe hands,” she said.

Bonang Matheba in Trouble

Bonang Matheba in Trouble

Bonang Matheba in Trouble

If there is one thing Mzansi has learnt over the past few days, it’s that Bonang Matheba is not one to be messed with. This is after she finally won her defamation case against podcaster Rea Gopane. And while it seems many had not expected anything less from Queen B, let’s just say that others are still taking the news, not so excitedly.

Bonang Matheba in Trouble

So just to catch you up on what exactly had transpired between Bonang and Gopane, their beef had begun last year when the podcaster had boldly accused Bonang of allegedly being the one who introduced her ex AKA to cocaine.

Bonang Matheba in Trouble

As you can already imagine, that did not sit so well with Bonang who of course took legal action against the 22 year old podcaster demanding that he make a public apology and retract what he said. Which Gopane did and the dust settled.
