Lebo M’s estranged wife, Pretty Samuels reveals she’s willing to fight for her marriage

Lebohang Morake’s estranged wife, Pretty Samuels isn’t prepared for divorce as she’s willing to fight for the success of her marriage.

A few weeks ago, the marriage made headlines as the music legend revealed plans to divorce her due to her fraudulent deeds.

However, Pretty told TshishaLIVE that she didn’t know about the divorce and that she is not set to lose her marriage with Lebo.

“My family has made it clear that they are here to build a family, not to destroy it. I am still a wife and I did not get married to be divorced. The first thing my family asked was what I wanted to do besides the noise out there and I said I am here to stay in my marriage and to build my marriage. Marriages have different problems depending on who you’re married [to] and I’m here to fight for my marriage.

“I am not here to dissolve my marriage. That’s where I stand. I haven’t received summons and also, receiving summons doesn’t mean there will be a divorce.”

In response to the fraudulent allegation, Pretty Samuels said:

“I’m taking advice on how to approach this because I’m a very private person and I don’t like fighting through the media. If there was anything fraudulent I’m sure there would have been a warrant of arrest. We share the same financial adviser. He could have just asked her to check.”

Bheki Cele: Murder rate drop no cause for celebration’ as ‘it’s not just a number

Minister of Police Bheki Cele said the small drop in the murder rate was not a cause for celebration.

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the country recorded a decrease in the murder rate.

However, the 3.1% drop recorded between April and June 2023 still meant that 6,288 people died violently.

“A 3.1 percent decline in the murder rate is no cause for celebration – 6,228 is not just a number, it is people whose lives were cut short at the hands of another,” Cele lamented.

Firearms, knives, and sharp instruments remained the weapon of choice to commit murder.

Most people who were murdered during this period were killed either during an argument, an act of vigilantism, or while being robbed.

Minister Kubayi’s fired deputy director back at work after another scathing court ruling

Nelly Letsholonyane, the Department of Human Settlements deputy director, who was fired by Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi after the minister got stuck in the lift for an hour, is back at work.

This, after the minister again came in for more judicial criticism for overstepping her powers and acting as “complainant, initiator and chairperson”, by unilaterally firing Letsholonyane in April this year, following the lift incident.

In May, Johannesburg Labour Court Acting Judge Molatelo Makhura said the minister’s conduct was unlawful and ordered that Nelly Lethsholonyane be immediately reinstated.

The minister has now petitioned the Labour Appeal Court for permission to appeal.

In the meantime, Letsholonayne – who has been sitting at home with no pay since April – applied to the Labour Court to enforce the reinstatement ruling, even though an appeal was pending.

In a judgment handed down on 8 August, Johannesburg Labour Court Judge Edwin Tlhotlhalemaje, ruled in her favour.

He said Lethshonyane had proved that exceptional circumstances existed to justify the reversing of the ordinary rule of suspension of the order, pending appeal.

“The applicant alleges that the exceptional circumstances arise from the judgment of (acting judge) Makhura to the extent that her dismissal was found to be in breach of her employment contract and the SMS [Senior Management Service] Handbook and was thus unlawful,” Judge Tlhotlhalemaje said.

“She is 62 years old, with 18 years service and has less than three years before she retires. She has been deprived of her salary … She contends that pending a series of anticipated appeals, she will, in the meantime, remain without an income until her retirement age. The consequences thereof are that any victory would be Pyrrhic, as she would no longer be in a position to be reinstated to her position.”

The judge said given that it was common cause that her services had been terminated in the manner described if Judge Makhura’s ruling was not enforced, “it would clearly amount to countenancing the unlawful conduct of the minister to continue unabated”.

“Without being bogged down with the merits or otherwise of the reasons for the dismissal, the respondent (the minister) clearly adopted a deplorable and gung-ho posture in dismissing the applicant, irrespective of the nature of the trauma the minister may have endured whilst stuck in the elevator,” he said.

Losing her son left her with a wound that would never heal, and she is living with it. Sharing on her Instagram, Lynn Forbes poured out her heart, expressing how much she is hurt.

AKA’s mother Lynn Forbes opens up about her grief

I’ve always believed that my heart was big and spacious with many rooms, to accommodate many people. These days I often feel like where my heart used to be there is just a big hole in my chest, without space even for myself. Grief is not something you get over, it never ends. You just learn to live with it and grow around it. And in the moments when it feels like the band-aid is being ripped off the healing wound, you start all over again … until the next time and the next time and the next time …” she said. She continued speaking of how much she is okay not being okay.

“In the meantime, I’m ok with not being ok, not being a strong woman and ok leaning on those who allow me to grief on my own terms, while holding my hand and quietly walking beside me as I find my way.” he said. I accept that grief is an element of who I am now, that it has altered my entire being forever and that I don’t have to get to the other side of it.” she finished.

Actress & comedian Celeste Ntuli opens up on empowering herself by living her truth

Popular South African actress Celeste Ntuli has created a name for herself on the comedy circuit with many referring to her as the queen of comedy.

Ntuli has evolved so much since being the first local female comic to record a one-woman show DVD and hosting numerous shows across the country.

The former ‘Isibaya’ actress is gearing up for her comedy show, ‘Celeste Ntuli and the big dudes’, which also is part of her birthday celebration as she turns a year older on August 25.

Ntuli explained that she chose the name because she wanted to pay homage to the late icon Brenda Fassie and the Big Dudes, but in her case the big dudes are comedians.

The big dudes are – Isaac Gampu, Tats Nkonzo, Roni Modimola, Chris Mapane and Felix Hlophe.

“This is the first of many line-up shows I will do with big dudes of comedy,” she explained to the publication.

“A female comedian will be the big dude as long as she is big in her stand up, not popular but big enough to have a great set and can be a headliner on her own. Which is another reason why I chose big Dudes as a name.

“I chose the line-up of hilarious comedians who have been doing this for years, some more than me.”

The actress believes that anyone can make it in comedy – female or male – you can make it, as long as you are funny.

“Comedy is one space that really has less discrimination. It’s about individualism in terms of how one delivers comedy is what makes us different from each other. To females out there, I will just say just do it,” she encouraged.

“In fact there are more comedians now on a comedy circuit which makes me happy.”

When it comes to the comedy Ntuli delivers, she uses her personal experiences as a woman – her daily life struggles, challenges, and wins. “I question a lot, most of my material is based on things I question.

“As women we never run out of things to question about ourselves in the workplace. I mean these days even the question of what a women is a controversial question in the midst of the gender-bending society.”

Over the years, the meaning of the battle cry of South African Women “Wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo” (you strike a woman, you strike a rock) has evolved, meaning different things to each individual.

Ntuli, shared with IOL Entertainment what it means to be imbokodo in 2023, explaining that the term has trapped and robbed black women of their femininity.
