Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema joined radio and television personality Tbo Touch on his Metro FM radio show, The Touchdown, on Friday 24 June. The politician co-hosted the afternoon drive show with the radio star and surprised listeners with a DJ mix!

It’s not the first time Malema has shown off his DJ skills though. In November last year, he mixed up a storm at Soweto’s popular Konka nightclub.
After returning to radio six years after his exit, listeners were eager to hear Tbo Touch on the airwaves again. Julius Malema was one of the many who welcomed the radio presenter back to radio earlier this year.

For his show on 24 June, Tbo Touch welcomed the EFF leader as a special guest. The two dived right into politics, Malema’s personal life and even some social issues currently faced by South Africa

Malema is no stranger to radio and was featured on Sizwe Dhlomo’s Kaya FM radio show in July last year.

Malema debuted his DJing skills at EFF Member of Parliament and former party spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s graduation celebration in 2017. At the time, Ndlozi had obtained his PhD in Political Studies from the University of Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg.

The EFF leader played a DJ set during his visit to Metro FM and it’s safe to say, he shut it down! The politician’s playlist included amapiano star Felo Le Tee’s hit Dipatje Tsa Felo, featuring Myztro and Daliwonga.

He also included DBN Gogo’s unreleased Amapiano banger, Life Changing.

Take a listen here:

The politician’s DJ mix scored rave reviews from Metro FM listeners across the country.

“DJ CIC must start sending mixes to the radio stations,” wrote one tweep.

“Listen, DJ Juju can do this. I have to give him 10/10,” wrote another tweep.

“Konka & these big clubs better book the CIC right now.”

‘We will find you’: Julius Malema sends stern warning to Hillary Gardee’s killers

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has issued a stern warning to the killers of 28-year-old Hillary Gardee whose body was found on the side of a road near Mbombela after she was reported missing at the weekend.

Malema and other top officials in the EFF have visited Gardee’s home on Wednesday where preparations for the funeral of the daughter of the party’s former secretary-general Godrich Gardee were underway.

On Tuesday, Police Minister Bheki Cele said officers are committed to finding the killers within 72 hours after he visited the scene where Gardee’s body was found with head injuries.

But Malema said they wouldn’t be giving any timeframes for when the killers would be found as overcommitting to dates that may come and go with no answers would just leave room to reopen the wounds of the grieving family.

“We don’t care if it is this week or after three years, but we will find them, and they will know who we are when we find them.”

Malema has thanked everyone, including other political parties, who have sent their condolences to the Gardee family.

I don’t have time for small boys – Julius Malema speaks on Nhlanhla Lux’s arrest

Amid claims from Operation Dudula members that Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini’s arrest was politically motivated, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has rubbished allegations by the vigilante group that his party pressured police to arrest Dlamini.

Bail application

Dlamini on Monday appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court for his bail application, after spending the weekend in prison at the Johannesburg Central police station.

He was arrested last week on charges of malicious damage to property, theft and burglary.

This is in connection with an incident this month in which Operation Dudula members ransacked Soweto resident Victor Ramerafe’s home in search of drugs.

The 59-year-old was accompanied by members of the EFF last week to open the case against Dlamini at Dobsonville police station.

‘EFF pressured police’

Speaking outside court on Friday, Operation Dudula’s secretary-general, Zandile Dabula, claimed that the EFF pressured police to arrest Dlamini.

“We know that the EFF pressured the police to arrest him. The EFF requested that Lux be arrested within seven days of opening the case. We didn’t expect that he would be arrested the way he was.

“We believe that the EFF pressured the police to arrest him. It looks like police are under pressure the way things are happening,” Dabula said.

‘My name is not a playground’

In an interview with Motsweding FM on Sunday, Malema denied that he was involved in Dlamini’s arrest or that the case was politically motivated as claimed by Dabula.

“I don’t have time for small boys… they don’t know what they’re talking about. I don’t even want to waste my time on such useless people,” the EFF leader said.

Malema said he was surprised to be accused of having a hand in Dlamini’s arrest.

He said the EFF did not register a case against Dlamini, but he support the Red Berets taking action to support Ramerafe, whom he said was a member of his party.

“I was busy attending to my farm here in Limpopo and the next thing; I hear people saying I got Nhlanhla get arrested. Who I’m I to do this and where do I get such powers? If they’re crazy, let them go and be crazy elsewhere. They must not come to me, my name is not a playground…”

“I have nothing to do with his arrest…all the EFF did was to assist their member with opening a case. The EFF did not open a case against Nhlanhla Lux, we accompanied our member who did not feel safe and that’s our job as the EFF to protect each other,” Melama said.

The last thing EFF leader Julius Malema expected during his court appearance in East London this week was for supporters to surprise him on his birthday.

Malema is appearing in the East London magistrate’s court for allegedly firing an automatic rifle during the EFF’s fifth birthday celebrations at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane in 2018.

During an adjournment for lunch, EFF supporters in the gallery stood up, holding placards wishing their leader a happy 41st birthday.

Singing and dancing followed as a cake was brought out and given to Malema.

Malema was all smiles as he recorded the birthday surprise and later held his cake. He also joined in the festivities.

“Happy birthday comrade president. Thank you for your brave and fearless leadership. It has meant so much to our organisation. We are proud to call you our CIC, you are an exemplary leader for future generations,” the EFF wrote in a social media message.

Malema and the EFF shared birthday messages from celebs, including Oskido, Big Zulu, Uncle Vinny, Lvovo, Fifi Cooper and Spikiri.

Julius Malema: EFF councillors in Inanda must ensure that services are delivered

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has urged party councillors in eThekwini to ensure that services are delivered to Inanda, north of Durban.

He said if need be, the councillors must disrupt meetings.

The leader of the Red Berets was speaking at the EFF Siyabonga rally in Durban.

Malema visited Inanda while campaigning for in the local government polls last year. He said the community raised concerns about poor service delivery.

The 24 EFF councillors in the eThekwini council now have a task to complete.

“I want EFF councillors who are going to disrupt the council. When they say ‘why’, you will say the Inanda people want sanitation, water and electricity including houses.”

Malema said he wants his party’s councillors to put pressure on the mayor and municipal manager to deliver service to communities free of charge.

Let’s continue the good fight – Julius Malema tells EFF members

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has snubbed the negative comments about his party on social media and chose to rather thank the party supporters for taking to the polls on Monday.

The party has been subject of mockery on social media as people claim the party’s large campaigns did not translate into votes, a claim that has been rejected by the party’s secretary-general Dlamini Marshall.

While the party has filled stadiums that only accommodate thousands, the votes always reach millions, he argued.

As at 7pm on Tuesday, the EFF had garnered just over one million votes.

Taking to social media on Tuesday, Malema thanked the fighters for voting for the party and urged them to “continue the good fight”.

He tweeted: “Siyabonga, thank you very much the beautiful people of our motherland. Le gosasa, fighters, let’s continue the good fight. #DANKO!”

The party’s treasurer-general Omphile Maotwe said the party sent out all its ‘soldiers’ during its election campaign hoping to win.

“The results are not fully in but we’re concerned about the time. Some municipalities have been stagnant for some time now. We entered this for a win, we want to win all of them. Also, we’ll always be ready to be a party that governs. Even though we were the ones that said let’s postpone these elections for safety, the government did not listen to us,” she said.

“You’ve seen how we registered our councillor candidates in s short period of time, you’ve seen our campaigns have been very successful, al the community meetings were packed to capacity, our people came out in their numbers to say we will vote eff and the results we will show that the eff is a party that is ready to govern.”

While the Democratic Alliance said they would avoid the EFF and has flip-flopped on whether to work with the ANC, the EFF has, however, said they’re open for any number of outcomes and its leaders are playing their cards close to their chest.

It’s likely they will once again have the final say on who gets power and who not once the count reaches 100% countrywide.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has concluded his community meetings in Inanda, north of Durban on Tuesday, once again promising better governance.

The party leader previously mentioned that the EFF’s main priority in KwaZulu-Natal is eThekwini.

While addressing those gathering in Inanda in a bid to convince them to vote for the party, he said if given the vote, he would give better service delivery.

“We want to restore the dignity of our people. We want to give you jobs in eThekwini, whether you’ve got matric or not.”

Malema also said load shedding may be used as an attempt to cheat during the counting of votes.

“They’re going to switch off the light, and when they switch off the lights, they are swapping the boxes. They will bring the boxes [with ballots] that they themselves voted on.”

EFF leader Julius Malema criticized the current government while on the campaign trail on Friday, saying even the apartheid government cared for it’s people more.

While campaigning in Mangaung, Malema told supporters in Botshabelo that his party will fix poor service delivery in the municipality.

Residents came out in numbers to see Malema, with many complaining about the lack of water, poor roads and not having electricity in the area.

Eskom
Malema was critical of the current government, saying that every resident of Botshabelo deserved to have electricity in their house, according to a report by the SABC.

“Eskom has capacity. If they can do the job well they will generate money. Because what they must do they must connect electricity in each and every house for free and do the meter connection and then people will buy electricity and they will make money. And we won’t hear stories of Eskom being collapsed,” the EFF leader told the crowd.

Malema made these claims in the same week that Eskom suspended its latest round of load shedding. Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter, however, said the power utility has a shortage in generation capacity and warned further power outages occur in the near future.

Housing
In Botshabelo, residents also complained about housing and the lack of jobs. Malema then said that government should give every person a house, even going so far as saying the apartheid government-provided homes and jobs for poor white people because it “cared for its own people”.

“The apartheid [government] gave all whites, especially poor whites, houses for free and not just houses. Even yards, their yards are very big. They can do it today. When they formed companies like Transnet for uneducated Afrikaners, they were creating jobs for white illiterates. Why? The apartheid government cared for its own people.”
