Bonang shows no mercy despite Rea Gopane’s public apology

Radio and TV personality Bonang Matheba is playing no games where her reputation and career is concerned. This is why she decided to make an example out of Youtuber Rea Gopane after he made damning accusations about her.

The businesswoman’s character was defamed when Rea, on his podcast The Rea and Black Step Podcast, accused her of introducing rapper AKA to cocaine, claiming to have gotten this information from radio and TV personality Siyabonga ‘Scoop Makhathini’ Ngwekazi.

The podcaster had reported this as facts on an episode that went viral after it’s released on the 9th of May. However, Bonang’s lawyers – in the letter of demand to Rea – rubbished these claims, labeling them “false, derogatory and hurtful”.

Parts of the letter read as follows: “On Sunday 9 May 2021 you falsely and unlawfully accused Bonang Matheba in a widely published video clip of, inter alia, having introduced AKA (Kieman Jarryd Forbes) to cocaine. In the context of what was being discussed in the video clip this defamatory allegation was exacerbated by the shocking insinuation that the death of AKA’s girlfriend Anele (Nellie) Tembe was due to AKA’s alleged use of cocaine.

“The allegations were defamatory, hurtful and were deliberately intended to humiliate my client and undermine her reputation. The allegations are also, to your knowledge false. Your false utterances are compounded by the fact that at the time of making them on a public platform, you knew full well that these utterances would be widely viewed given my client’s high public profile.”

Rea was instructed to issue a retraction and apology in the form of a video and letter, and post these on all his social media platforms. He was also slapped with a R500 000 lawsuit in damages to pay the House of BNG owner.

As per the letter of demand, the 22-year-old youtuber posted an apology and retraction on his social media accounts.

In a single paragraph, Rea’s letter read: “To the extent that I have made statements to certain individuals and in the public media stating or implying Ms Matheba’s connection to cocaine, I unequivocally retract all such imputations and unreservedly apologise that they were made. I regret any inconvenience caused to Ms Matheba and undertake that it will not happen again.”

While many Twitter users found the letter rushed and insincere, Bonang did not reply or acknowledge it on social media.

The letter was shortly followed by a video by Rea in which he apologized to Bonang, AKA and Scoop.

“As stated in my previous retraction and apology to Miss Bonang Matheba, I would like to sincerely apologise to everyone who was mentioned in the podcast on the 9th of May 2021. I am deeply regretful of what I said and I now realise the harm that podcast could cause.

“I have learnt from my mistakes and I will look to improve my content going forward,” he said in part

However, this may not be enough because in a now-deleted tweet, he made light of the situation. Unfortunately for him, fans were ready with screenshots and alerted Bonang of the tweet.

In the tweet, Rea jokes about his emphasis on the words “it’s known” in the viral and accusatory video about Bonang and AKA.

Bonang exposed for allegedly preaching lies to fans

Some days ago, the media personality revealed one of the reasons she discontinued the show. According to her, some persons involved with the show have refused to pay her.

“I’m over it… and they owe me money so, nah!! Maybe….B*dazzled reloaded?” she said.

Meanwhile in 2019, Queen B seem excited ending the show as she claims it was her worst working experiences.

“Making Being Bonang Season 3 was one of the worst working experiences of my life!! Glad it’s ending…remind me to tell y’all why one day!”

After her recent confession about the money saga, the producers of the show refuted her claims, saying her management was paid fully, and that the poor performance of the show got it cancelled.

Speaking with The Citizen, Barleader TV Production head Legend Manqele said:

“The tweet doesn’t refer to my company or anyone specific. All money was paid to her management. For the record, Being Bonang was canceled because it wasn’t performing. It was the channel that decided not to continue with the reality show.”

The head of BarLeader production has rubbished Bonang Matheba’s claims that they still owe her money.

Avid fans of the reality show have been begging the TV star for season 4 of their favourite show ‘Being Bonang’, but Bonang recently shared on Tweeter that one of the reasons why fans should bury the idea of another season of her popular reality show Being Bonang is because she is still owed money.

Bonang has previously revealed that working on the third season of her reality show was the worst experience.

“Making Being Bonang Season 3 was one of the worst working experiences of my life!! Glad it’s ending…remind me to tell y’all why one day!” she tweeted.

Many fans where shocked to hear Bonang say the production of the show owed her money.

“And they owe you money, Yho hayi even the best in our country get scammed by these production companies and channels.”

“Owe you?! The nerve. That time you were one of the most-watched shows on that channel. Anyway B*dazzled it is.”

However, the head of BarLeader production Legend Manqele has responded to those claims stating that the money they owed Bonang has been paid to her management. He also revealed that the show was cancelled because it did not perform well commercially.

Real Reason Being Bonang Is History

Bonang fans tuned in every week to watch the Queen in action on her popular reality show Being Bonang. Viewers got to see the real her and get a glimpse of her lavish lifestyle. All that came to an abrupt stop three seasons later, when she declared Being Bonang as the worst experience of her life, EVER!

In 2019 she said, ”Making Being Bonang Season 3 was one of the worst working experiences of my life!! Glad it’s ending…remind me to tell y’all why one day!” This made fans more curious as to what the real reason for her not wanting to continue with the show. Since then she has remained mum about the whole issue but dropped a few hints here and there.

Today, her fans reminded her how much she is missed on television, “We miss you on screen tlhe mogirl,” then B replied by saying how should that be solved. As predicted, Being Bonang season 4 was on everyone’s minds but Bonang broke their hearts.

Bonang did bless fans with a two-part series called “A Very Bonang Year” which followed the fashionista on her trip to the United States of America. “I’m so excited to have a special on SABC 1. It’ll be very different from ‘Being Bonang’ because even if viewers have followed my journey, the show goes beyond social media with a behind-the-scenes look into a new chapter in my business career and life. I am taking viewers into my confidence” said Bonang.

Her reality series broke records as part 1 gained approximately 1,86 million viewership. A Very Bonang Year Part 2 garnered over 2 million viewers on August 8. It was also social media’s hot topic as the #AVeryBonangYear hashtag reached an astounding 2.2 billion impressions over the broadcast period.

Media personality Bonang revealed last month that her wine journey had been a major success, and she was not bragging at all, at least now we know. Her House Of BNG range and has now hit the shelves of Namibia.

Taking to her IG story the businesswoman revealed her that her sparkling wine range is now available in Namibia.

Recently in an interview with Eye Witness News, the media personality revealed it took her a while to produce her own wine. Still, when she got the opportunity, she knew it was her chance to create a remarkable success story.

“The House of BNG has been a passion project of mine for a long time. It’s no secret that champagne is my favourite drink, so getting the chance to make my own MCC was an opportunity I couldn’t miss out on,” she said.

She further explained why she wanted to launch an MCC: “We have some of the world’s best grapes here in South Africa and so I decided to make a Méthode Cap Classique wine – which is made in exactly the same way as champagne but using Cape grapes. This is my love letter to Africa, and I’m excited to introduce it to the world.”

Bonang’s Hints At Another House Of BNG Soiree

Bonang Matheba might have taken a break from any television and radio work but as we have come to expect from the queen, resting on her laurels is not an option. The former “Top Billing” personality is planning something and has begun with the promotional campaign towards the expected big announcement.

Queen B* is the face- because the matter of ownership is in question- of her MCC brut and brut rose alcoholic beverage, House of BNG. The brand launched back in March 2021. The launch was a victory lap for the personality following a little hurdle when she first signed her contract to start her now certified multi-million business. If you do not remember the-girl-with-vineyards win that the star had when she launched her brand, here is a little reminder.

In the first year following the release of the House of BNG, Bonang cemented herself as the leader in the game following primary supermarket distributor Woolworths named House of BNG as the number one selling alcoholic beverage in their stores. Moreover, the announcement was followed by the announcement of a decline in the sales of actual champagne, with suggestions alluding to the popularity of the MCC as the reason.

In the second year of the continued chronicles Bonang upped the ante by diversifying her brand. First was the introduction of the House of BNG Prestige. Remember, the Prestige was released in the midst of the panorama in South Africa. But the good sis managed to serve as she had was featured as the guest-of-honour during 2020’s Sun Met.

Mzansi Apologises To Bonang After Allegedly Being Abused By Euphonik 4 years Ago

In light of recent rape charges against DJ Euphonik and his bestie, DJ Fresh, tweeps have now come in numbers to apologise to Bonang Matheba for not believing and supporting her when her ex-boyfriend, Euphonik allegedly abused her years ago.

They are also apologising for not putting an end to Euphonik’s alleged sexist campaign/tweets 4years ago when he referred to Bonang as “Hlanyo”.

They’ve realised through Euphonik’s recent tweets that he’s got a pattern of discrediting every woman who reports his abuse. The former 94.7 DJ claimed a few years ago that his then girlfriend Bonang Matheba had been beating him up in a series of alcohol-fuelled attacks after Matheba opened a case against him.

Just like he’s been discrediting Ms Madikizela’s character on Twitter this week by bashing her supporters and feminists, just like he apparently did to Ntsiki Mazwai a few years.

Tweeps also remember the video in which Pearl Thusi released on Twitter in which she and Linda Moeketsi called themselves Hlanyos and told Euphonik they loved him.
