Rapper Travis Scott is facing a lot of public backlash after 8 people died and many more fans were injured at his AstroWorld Festival held in Houston over the weekend.

According to reports by News 24, a sold-out audience of about 50 000 people rushed to the stage, crushing those who fell unconscious or suffered other medical issues in their path. The crowd was apparently encouraged by Scott, who called on audience members to ignore security and come to the front of the stage.

One 19-year-old festival-goer Hamad Al Barrak describes what took place:

“There were just too many people,” said Al Barrak, who described chaos as he tried to buy festival gear. “People were up on each other. We were all pressed together. You felt like you couldn’t breathe,” he says.

Latest: Nomia Rosemary Ndlovu ordered a hit on lead police investigator and his son

Killer cop Nomia Rosemary Ndlovu allegedly tried to kill the lead investigator in her case, sergeant Keshi Mabunda.

The startling details were revealed by Mabunda in an interview yesterday.

He said Ndlovu, who was found guilty and sentenced to life for killing five relatives and her boyfriend for insurance payouts, had an insatiable appetite for murder.

Mabunda, who hails from Giyani in Limpopo, said Ndlovu planned his and a colleague’s murder while awaiting trial at the notorious Sun City prison in the south of Joburg.

“Rosemary conspired with her friend to get me and my son killed. I was shaken when I heard of the plot. I realised that this was a serious threat to me and my family. I discovered that after I had confiscated her phone, she did a sim swap and she planned with her friend to get me and my son killed.

“She also used one of the key witnesses to get close to me. You must note that she tried to bribe me first, and when all that failed, she then decided to [plot to] kill me,” he said.

“I had to be cautious, and I also had to make sure that my family was safe as I had to limit my son’s movements while looking over my shoulder. I didn’t want to take chances because I realised that she was an evil woman who would do anything to take me out.”

Mabunda, who said he had tried unsuccessfully four times to get into the police services, got involved in the case in 2015 while he was an acting station commander at

Olifantsfontein police station. The former security guard said the case has taken a heavy toll on his family and his social life.

“When I started to investigate this case, I refused to work with other people because I didn’t want to compromise it. I felt I needed to fully commit myself towards solving those murders committed by Rosemary. The first time I saw her face was in 2015, when she came to the police station to request my colleagues to sign her insurance claim documents after she had killed her boyfriend, Maurice Mabasa.

“After I had picked up that there was something fishy with her insurance claims, based on my investigations that were linking her to other unsolved cases, I contacted the insurance company to stop the claim, and she came to the police station fuming, telling me that I had no right to stop her claim,” said Mabunda.

Mabunda added that while the case was still on, the prosecutor, who worked on the case, had to leave the case because her husband died and she later became terminally ill.

“Having to deal with not working with the prosecutor who started with me really put me under immense stress. But a new prosecutor, advocate Riana Williams, came through and she told me that we are going to get a successful conviction. I never doubted her because I believed that she knew her story and she told me that I shouldn’t give up as she was here to work with me.”

Judge Ramarumo Monama sentenced Ndlovu to life in prison for each of the six counts of murder on Friday. He further sentenced her to additional

five years for defeating the ends of justice, and 10 years for each of the four counts of fraud.

Ndlovu, who threatened witnesses after the sentencing proceedings, was also sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for each count of incitement to commit murder and 10 years for the attempted murder of her mother.

Ndlovu killed her boyfriend Mabasa, her sister Audrey Somisa Ndlovu, her cousin Witness Madala Homu, her niece Zanele Motha, her brother Mayeni Mashaba and Audrey’s son, Brilliant Mashego. She also attempted to have her mother killed.

She pocketed R1.4-million in insurance claims related to the killings.

The publication last month reported that Ndlovu, 46, spent her money on gambling.

Monama blasted Ndlovu for not showing remorse for killing her relatives in pursuit of wealth.

However, Ndlovu extended an olive branch to Mabunda after her sentencing.

“On sentencing day, Rosemary said that I should be proud of myself for doing my job. She said that she was not angry with me because she understood that I was just doing my job.”

Miss SA organisers speak on calls to boycott Miss Universe 2021 pageant in Israel

Instead of enjoying her reign as Miss SA 2021 Lalela Mswane has been facing a lot of flak ahead of her imminent departure for Israel. Less than a month into her new role, she has been the victim of character assassination across the TLs.

It’s been common practice since the inception of the pageant for its winner to head out to the next pageant which is the Miss Universe. After her crowning it was announced that she would be taking part at the 70th Miss Universe pageant in Israel.

The pageant that’s set to take place at Eliat in Israel on December 12 has got Mzansi in a frenzy.

Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Mandla Mandela, has called for her to boycott the pageant for the “occupation and the cruel treatment of Palestinians at the hands of the apartheid Israel regime”, IOL reported.

Mzansi followed suit with calls for Lalela to withdraw from participating in the pageant.

She has been mum on the saga, even though Mzansi has intensified efforts to get her to say something about the matter.

TimesLIVE reported that the Palestine Solidarity Alliance has also accused the beauty queen of not caring about the plight of Palestinians and being “worried about her own self gains”.

The Miss SA Organisation told TshisaLIVE it was “not getting involved in a political war of words and looks forward to watching Miss SA make the country proud on an international stage”.

“I grew up planting bananas and taking care of cattle at home. I realised this could be turned into a business.”

Mroza, who has been with the radio station for 15 years, urged everyone to try and have a side hustle.

“Jobs disappear, and when that happens, we will be helped by the things we grew up doing. People should get their hands dirty and go into agriculture.

“They can even consider construction as people are always in need of houses.”

She said she worked with experienced farmers at her vegetable and banana farm in Dokodweni and also had help from professionals at her animal farm in Jozini.

“The pandemic also taught me the importance of working with other people to do more and go further. I witness this as I work with people who have experience in farming,” she added.

“We are making fast progress because they know how to do the job while I use social media to advertise.”
