Actor Hungani Ndlovu Shattered As He Closes His Talent Academy Due To Covid

“Hello guys It’s Hungani Ndlovu, I just have some things to share with you. I really don’t know how it’s going to pan out because it’s something that I didn’t think I’ll need to share with you here, but unfortunately or fortunately only God knows, I’m sharing this. So many of you who are avid fans and followers of the work that I do, know that I started a talent agency called Sans Group and we’ve grown gradually. We had just opened our doors to our beautiful new home in Parkhurst and we had our first open day finally and things are looking great and then Covid happened in March and we’ve been closed since the 18th of March.”

Outspoken South African musician Ntsiki Mazwai has taken a dig at Pearl Thusi on how she used to burn her skin.

Ntsiki Mazwai attacks Pearl Thusi over her light skin colour

Taking to Tweeter in response to admissions made by Queen Sono actress Pearl Thusi on Mac G’s podcast on how she used to burn her skin to deal with the teasing she endured as a light skin amongst her darker friends, Mazwai wrote;

“I wanted to ask…. What method did Pearl Thusi use to burn her skin???”

Twitter users were quick to notice tensions brewing, perhaps she trying to rouse the beef they settled some time ago.

In the interview with Mac G, the actress talked about colourism and her thoughts on light skin privilege. She revealed that growing up, she was the only light-skinned person in her group, and was often teased and bullied for being different.

When asked if she wished she was darker-skinned, she said she used to burn her skin as a child because of the teasing.

“Uh, I used to like burn my skin when I was a kid to stop the teasing,” Thusi told Mac G.

The conversation was sparked by a previous incident experienced by Thusi on the controversial topic of colourism and light skin privilege on Twitter.

PEARL THUSI CALLED OUT FOR LIGHT SKIN PRIVILEGE

In 2019, the Quantico star was called out by Tweeps who said the reason she was a successful actress was her light skin and not her talent.

Rhythm City actress Bonnie Mbuli, whom Thusi said she regarded as an older sister, joined the heated colourism conversation on Twitter. The tweet that has since been removed read:

“So when a light-skinned actress complains abt the one or two roles they didn’t get coz they weren’t dark enuf; I’m like but the part ur crying abt was being the slave who gets raped and beat up in the thing, ppl who look like u have never had to be in that position to begin with.”

PEARL THUSI RESPONDS TO CONTROVERSY

On the Podcast with Mac G, the actress cleared up the issue, saying that she was not saying colourism was not a thing; the point she was making was that being told she was only successful because of her skin colour was not fair. She added this had brought up her childhood issues around skin colour and had made her emotional.

She then added:

“They want someone to be upset with, people need someone to be a villain in their story and when you’ve been the chosen one to be the villain, sometimes you’ve just got to accept that and keep walking.”

“My journey has been an interesting one and one day I’ll tell it, but I’m so exhausted defending what I am and who I am,” she added.

The podcast episode covered more than colourism, but also Queen Sono, the loss of Thusi’s father, depression and the US.

He was described as a giant who paved the way for many artists in the entertainment industry. Rapetsoa starred in and produced Pedi radio dramas for Thobela FM, as well as stage plays.

He played the part of Malome Josias on SABC1’s Skeem Saam. At his funeral, he was described as a man who instilled passion for drama and acting in many artists.

Representing Skeem Saam, Skhumbuzo Mbatha – who plays Meneer Manaka – said Rapetsoa spotted him at a community radio station.

“Theatre and radio were his passion. I’m proud to be one of his products. We thank his family for sharing him with the rest of us,” he said.

Limpopo Artist Movement chairman, Mphoza Mashabela, told Daily Sun: “We want to honour his legacy by erecting a statue at the entrance of Seshego.

“He was never jealous of sharing his knowledge and experience with anyone. We’ve lost an icon, and I don’t think anyone can replace him.”

Throughout his career, he wrote 18 stage productions, 20 radio series and 25 short dramas. He was described as a broadcaster who combined his love of radio with an enduring love for drama at a very early age.

Paying tribute on behalf of wife Flora (68), Thabo Modiba said: “Your performance in this life deserves a standing ovation. Even though my heart is still sore, I’ll hold on to the good and sweet memories we shared together.”

Limpopo Arts and Culture MEC Thandi Moraka said: “During our last talk at the beginning of this year, he asked that we meet so we could share ideas on how we could take theatre forward in this province. Little did I know I’d be meeting him again in this way. My heart is still filled with disbelief.”

Bra Paul is survived by his wife, three children, six grandchildren and two sisters.

Zululand FM founder Dr Bhekisisa Ngcobo has died

On New Year’s Eve everyone was happy to have survived the terrible year and looked forward to a great 2021.

But Zululand FM and South African Volunteer Awards’ founder Dr Bhekisisa Ngcobo will not be able to fulfil his New Year’s resolutions.

This is because Ngcobo died in the first minutes of 2021 on Friday 1 January after a short illness.

People were shocked after they learnt of his passing.

His younger sister Nonhlanhla “Mdonso” Ngcobo, who is a presenter on Ukhozi FM, told Daily Sun her brother fell ill on Thursday 31 December
“He informed us that he was sick but he was not showing emergency symptoms. At midnight on New Year’s Day he got worse and we rushed him to the nearest hospital but unfortunately he didn’t make it.

“At the moment we don’t know what the cause of his death is, because he was a strong man. My brother had many plans of developing his radio station and helping people to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. The cruel death shattered all his plans,” she said.

Mdonso said her brother played a big role in developing her radio career, while he has also mentored many radio DJs through his community radio station Zululand FM in Melmoth, KZN.

Messages of condolences are still pouring in after the death of Ngcobo, who founded Zululand FM in 2011, while he also established the South African Volunteer Awards in 2013.

Nongoma FM station manager Siboniso Zulu told Daily Sun a foot soldier of the community media industry and a true servant of the people has fallen.

“He will be remembered as a community leader who served his people with diligence and commitment. We salute him for his contribution and we send our heartfelt condolences to the Zululand FM family and the Ngcobo family,” he said.

Imbokodo FM station manager Sandile Ngema said he’s lost a true friend in the community radio station industry.

“He was my friend, my brother and my confidante. May his soul rest in peace” he said.

Ngcobo’s awards have honoured top politicians such as IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Minister of Higher Education Blade Nzimande and many top musicians.

His funeral arrangements are still to be announced by the family.

Top 5 fave moments from ‘The Queen’

Top 5 fave moments from ‘The Queen’

Top 5 fave moments from 'The Queen'

While 2020 has been a real life film for most of us, even it couldn’t out-do the dramatic, action movie Mzansi Magic’s The Queen was this year. The telenovela was so lit that there was everything from deaths, resurrections, to straight up luxury vehicle explosions and SA was here for it!

The fictional world that exists between Tembisa and Midrand and revolves around the drug-dealing Khoza family, led by the powerhouse that is Harriet Khoza (played by Connie Ferguson), really took it up a notch this year.

Not only did 2020 bring us the untimely death of Kea (played by Dineo Langa) but it brought us the shocking resurrection of Shaka from the dead, all the while serving us with Petronella’s unmatched humour.

Kagiso found himself entangled in another loveless relationship — as per the norm — and so did Schumie.

However, the one person who seemingly received every lemon 2020 had, was Vuyiswa. Not only did the power woman lose her husband, she had to fight with his family who were pure oppressors and later, when she attempted to get back to “living”, she was drugged then raped … Uh mean, how terrible can one year be?

Here are the top five moments from ‘The Queen’:
Kea died and Harriet went crazy!

After watching the black BMW that was supposedly transporting Kea Khoza blow up on The Queen, the one thing fans of the telenovela agree on is that the Fergusons sure did Dineo Langa dirty with such a “weak” exit.

Viewers of The Queen recently watched Sthembiso (Jerry Maake’s colleague) get shot without his face even appearing in the episode. While viewers knew Kea wasn’t going to be part of season five, they had high expectations of how her exit would be written.

Anyway, Kea’s death resulted in temporary insanity for Harriet.

Brutus found love … with Noma insert big eyes emoji

In another episode of things fans were never ready for, 2020 gave the viewers a version of Brutus in love. The one malume fans thought would be a bachelor forever, caught feelings for Noma.

The pair gave birth to #NomaBrutie.

Fans thought it was uber cute!

Vuyiswa had a tragic year!

The Queen’s latest “spiked drink that led to rape” storyline that revolves around a recent widow, Vuyiswa, left fans of The Queen both hurt and equally impressed by acting skills that made them forget she’s a fictional character.

Fans found themselves emotional as they watched Vuyiswa deal with the hectic trauma and heavy emotions that survivors of rape go through. This very same woman lost her husband as well. It was all too much for fans to take.

Shaka woke up from the dead …

The Queen was one huge thriller this year and when Shaka made his return from the dead fans were excited and also very confused.

Fans were hoping that a resurrected Shaka would come back looking for peace instead of vengeance and they are now afraid that he’s going to kill some of their faves, as it’s become clear that anger has blinded him.

Kagiso and Dingane, who were responsible for Shaka’s “death”, are now on the receiving end of Shaka’s anger and wrath. The guy tortured the pair hard.

While Kagiso had his mother to protect him, Dingane may be left out in the cold because Brutus was still embracing his miracle. That guy loves Shaka more than anyone and isn’t afraid to show it

Petronella took petronelling to the next level, at Tau … erm Hector’s house

Petronella has been serving the viewers with gem after gem as she puts the Sebata daughters in their places.

Just the other day, she had to remind them to pick up after themselves because while she may be employed by their father, she’s a house executive not their maid.

She’s such a mood and there’s just no denying her talent.
