Depression, suicide and toxic relationships: Ex-Scandal! actress Nozuko Ncayiyane breaks

Former Scandal! actress Nozuko Ncayiyane Ntshangase recently opened up about her suicide attempts and depression with Actors Spaces publication.

The actress who currently plays the role of Nox in DiepCity also discussed her abusive childhood which led to her abusive relationships with men and her ongoing struggles in the entertainment industry.

The actress told the publications:

“Financially, I did not understand a lot of things. Intellectually, there were still a lot of things I needed to learn around that. I messed up a lot financially, I made really bad decisions. I felt like everything that I learned in high school was not a part of this”

The former Skeem Saam actress who played the role of Ayanda also informed the publication that she got her big break in 2013 on the show 7 months after getting rejected for the role of Enhle.

She said she felt obligated to spend most of her money on her family back home because her mother was a single mother and unemployed.

I did not want to do what everyone was doing in the industry. I did not want to attend those events. My friend would try to drag me out of the room to attend those events but it just pushed me into a dark hole of depression. I felt like I was not doing enough and I felt like I did not have direction or know what I was doing. So emotionally I got messed up and tried suicide a couple of times.

The actress says things have now improved as she is now working through her depression and is doing much better.

Ntshangase who was raised by a teenage mother told Drum Magazine in 2020 that she’s had one bad relationship after another because she witnessed men abusing her mother throughout the years.

“As a child, when you witness your mother being abused, you don’t comprehend how wrong it is. They would beat my mom to a pulp; in such a way that I couldn’t even recognize her, but there was nothing much I could do or say. So, I would just cry alone in my corner. “

Serious trouble for taxi driver who assaulted Idols SA judge Unathi – Taxi Association speaks out

Media personality and Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi has thanked the taxi association for taking decisive action after her altercation with a taxi driver last week.

Unathi’s videos went viral after she shared an incident where a taxi driver bumped her car without indicating. He then got out of his car and started intimidating her.

The driver repeatedly laid his hands on her during their heated exchange. Unathi thanked people for their compassion and said she had a Zoom meeting with the taxi driver, the chairperson, the public relations officer of the Faraday Taxi Association.

They all apologized on behalf of him and the association because it is “not the reputation they would like to spread.”

“They have officially apologised and they have given me the driver’s details, so I can take it to the police station.”

The singer said the association urged the public to continue recording and reporting incidences of taxi drivers so they hold them accountable.

Unathi will be paid for the dent caused during the accident.

Watch:

During the situation, some men did intervene to defuse it, as the driver tried to put his hands on her when things got more tense.

Unathi wrote on Instagram: “What we deal with as South African woman! He bumps my car, shouts at me to intimidate me. When that doesn’t work he repeatedly puts his hands on me. When that doesn’t work he flees. BUT the other men trying to diffuse the situation ALSO think it’s okay TO PUT THEIR HANDS ON ME.

“Also [they] think it’s okay to put their hands on me. Happy Women’s Month ladies. P.S I’m fine. Will open up a hit-and-run case. WOAW South Africa. WOAW.”

JZ Foundation says it’s still waiting for a report from Jacob Zuma’s doctors

The Jacob Zuma Foundation on Saturday said it was still awaiting a report from doctors regarding the health of former President Jacob Zuma.

On Friday, Zuma was admitted to a hospital outside the Estcourt Correctional Centre, in KwaZulu-Natal, where he’s been serving his 15-month jail term.

Zuma was imprisoned last month after the Constitutional Court in June found him guilty of contempt of court over his refusal to cooperate with the state capture inquiry that he set up.

The foundation said that Zuma was attending his annual medical routine check-up, while the Department of Correctional Services confirmed that Zuma was admitted to an outside health facility for medical care.

The department is obliged to give any prisoner or detainee the right to adequate medical treatment.

Without disclosing the nature of his illness, it stated that the 79-year-old now required medical care from the South African Military Health Services.

Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung’s divorce was never going to be cut and dry.

The estranged couple now find themselves in the spotlight after allegations of abuse have been made public.

They made headlines after reports stated that Motaung had accused the ’Idols SA’ judge of abuse in an interview he apparently did with producers of the reality show ’Living the Dream with Somizi’.

Motaung told producers Somizi tried to kill him with a kitchen knife and struck him off the road with his car while he tried to flee. The couple had been arguing about Mohale’s alleged cheating.

On Friday, Somizi addressed these allegations by saying that he would refer the matter to his lawyers and confirmed that he wanted to finalise his divorce from Motaung.
In response to the happenings of the week, Motaung issued a statement of his own.

“I wish to make it clear that it has never been my intention to have the private details of my marriage exposed in the public nor will it ever be my intention to cause disrespect to his [Somizi] image,” he stated.

He then clarified the circumstances surrounding the audio recording, saying that it was privileged and he “trusted the person with whom I was engaging.”

Motaung also addressed the abuse allegations, saying: “I did in fact experience abuse at the hands of my estranged husband, both physical and psychological.

“It is not my wish to seesaw my experience against his as he only has his conscience to reckon with,” he added.

He ended with that he has his right to privacy and will not comment further.

Cassper Nyovest looking for a worthy boxing opponent after Prince Kaybee fallout

Musician Cassper Nyovest says he is looking for someone to fight in the ring after two potential matchups fell through.

The star initially challenged AKA to a boxing match, but it failed to happen. He followed up with an offer to get in the ring with Prince Kaybee but that didn’t work out either.

Now, Cassper is looking for the next big name to throw hands in the boxing ring.

While taking to opportunity to gloat about the success of his 990 sneakers and finishing a TV show, the star said that he is back at the gym to train after a rest. He went on to ask fans who they thought would be a great sparring match for him.

“The 990 selling, I’m back to training tomorrow. Done shooting a TV show. Time to break a sweat and drop a lil bit of weight. Wish I was training for an actual fight for a lil bit of a push. Need to get a worthy opponent, someone with some sort of a name. It’ll be fun. But who?” he wrote.

In the replies, NaakMusiQ, Priddy Ugly and Big Zulu are some of the names that popped up.

King Monada is a clear fave for most tweeps.

Check out the reactions below:

Cassper explained that he turned down the fight with Prince Kaybee because the Hosh hitmaker had “delusional” demands for their match.

“The Kaybee thing is dead. I have realised that n****** wanna get clout from tweeting or they try to finesse money to fall on encase they lose. I was looking forward to getting in the ring with dude but he is delusional with his demands. Who else y’all think would make a good fight?” he wrote. “Hopefully … the next opponent will be reasonable? Hopefully.”

Brandfort renamed after struggle icon Winnie Mandela

A small town in the Free State that became a prison for a struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela will now bear her name.

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa on Friday gazetted the name change of the town of Brandfort to Winnie Mandela.

“Brandfort is a small town in the central Free State Province, where late struggle icon, Winnie Madikizela Mandela was banished by the then apartheid government in 1977,” the minister’s spokesperson Masechaba Khumalo said.

Khumalo said this was one of the ways the department was recognizing Madikizela-Mandela’s contribution ahead of Women’s Day.

“This theme is aimed at promoting women’s equality and sustaining the fight against gender-based violence and femicide. It is pivotal that our geographical names reflect the history of such icons.
