Socialite Zarinah Hassan, aka “Zari the Boss Lady”, has hit back at Norma Mngoma’s comment and version of events surrounding their friendship fallout. This after Norma responded to a question about why the pair are no longer friends on Lasizwe’s YouTube show Drink Or Tell The Truth.

In the latest episode of the show, Norma was asked why she was no longer friends with SA-based Ugandan socialite Zarinah, and she responded: “I’d never talk about that and she doesn’t even know. I stopped talking to her and she started texting me, asking me that I unfollow her and deleted her pictures and I’ve never said anything to her until today.”

Norma insinuated Zari wasn’t “an honest” person when she said she no longer friends with her because of a conversation Malusi Gigaba’s estranged wife had with a mutual friend of theirs.

“I didn’t feel the need to ask her because I don’t want a friend who is honest only in my presence but in my absence you’re not.”.

Zarinah took to her social to address the comments Norma made on the show, threatening to expose her.

“I’m living a drama-free life because I no longer hang with fake people like you. You were here for the likes and followers. Every time I tagged you, you got excited when you got followers like a kid in a candy store. The real reason behind my break-up with you was more than what your gossiping for TV clout.”

Zarinah went on to add that Norma’s estranged husband would be shocked to find out information about her.

“I’m the last person you want to provoke, Norma. I will expose you. I’ll strip you naked. Don’t come for me unless if I have called for you. Your ex-husband will be shocked if he was married to a magosha or a wife. Come slow, sis, I don’t do drama. I burnt that building. I no longer live there. Peace.”

Malusi Gigaba told the state capture commission he thought his estranged wife was a moneyed, high-flying IT exec and that she funded their 2014 honeymoon — a trip Mngoma claimed was facilitated by Dudu Myeni and paid for by the Guptas.

The state capture inquiry on Thursday evening resembled a divorce court amid a bitter tiff between a couple that had fallen out.

This after former minister Malusi Gigaba concluded the night’s hearings with a jaw-dropping testimony of how he perceived his estranged wife Norma Mngoma as an IT executive from a wealthy family.

Gigaba’s revelations came after a question on whether Mngoma was telling the truth that it was Dudu Myeni who organised and the Guptas who paid for their honeymoon seven years ago.

The former minister said he believed Mngoma had paid for the holiday herself because she led him to believe she had inherited her father’s wealth.

“When I met Miss Mngoma, she projected to me an image of a high-flying individual who was from a well-to-do family,” said Gigaba.

“She had told me that her father was a businessman living in New York City and that she herself regularly visited New York and, on occasion, would win awards from Mark Shuttleworth that would require her to go do some work in New York.

“She would come to see me in different vehicles that she said were hers, including an ML 320, a BMW 120 series and so on,” he went on.

“Now I knew her to be this high-flying IT executive who had worked at IBM and various other top notch, well-paying IT companies.

“Around 2011, she told me that her father in New York City passed away and left her a very handsome inheritance that was held on her behalf by her uncle, called Mthoko. I have never met this Mthoko. And so my understanding was that this was a very wealthy woman from a well-to-do family whose relatives were living in New York.”

For this reason, Gigaba added, he never questioned Mngoma when she said they must go on honeymoon to Mauritius.

“I did not question her,” Gigaba said, saying he thought it was unheard of for any husband to question their wife’s bona fides, especially when they claimed to be wealthy.

“In this case, this was my wealthy wife. So I went on holiday in Mauritius, which was our honeymoon. We enjoyed ourselves and spent two or three days and we came back.

“That the trip was facilitated by Miss Myeni, I only heard it for the first time from Miss Mngoma. All along I had presumed her to be responsible for the trip and that she paid for it from her inheritance and wealth,” he said.

Therefore, said Gigaba, he had no reason to suspect that the trip was facilitated by Myeni and paid for by the Gupta family.

Former Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba’s estranged wife, Norma Mngoma, told her story at the state capture inquiry. Norma has been trending on social media ever since as people try and process what she said, including Julius Malema.

According to Norma, Gigaba and the Guptas made some shady decisions together.

“The way she I started feel maybe she doesn’t have “CHILDREN” maybe she got them somewhere #onaseriousnote CZ she is behaving like she doesn’t care about her children. So the quality of evidence leaders the commission uses could not even think of asking if Ms Mngoma has any evidence for all her allegations to the husband.

I hope after all of this state capture inquiry Norma Mngoma will be fined or arrested too if Malusi Gigaba face any of the above.behind every mans downfall there is a woman. Norma benefited from those shady deals and that makes her an accomplice. She is just bitter because Gigabyte cheated. She must take him to divorce court, gets what’s hers and move on. All this drama is unnecessary and might ruin people’s lives who weren’t involved in their marriage.”said a Facebook followers

The commission’s chair, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has approved the issuing of a summon for Norma Mngoma. This after she refused to appear before the Zondo Commission yesterday. Norma was expected to give details about her visits to the Guptas home in Johannesburg on Tuesday. She was initially set to appear last week Friday however the testimony was postponed due to time constraints.

Her legal representative Adv. Gwalisile Makhathini yesterday told the commission that Norma would like to withdraw her participation from the commission.
Here are some reactions to Norma’s no-show.

We received instructions chair last night that Mrs. Gigaba would like to withdraw her participation from the commission and this morning I addressed a letter to the commission advising to that effect,” she said.

Her attorney also presented the letter from Norma before the commission, she said: “This letter sets to inform the commission that as of late yesterday we received instructions from our client informing us of her personal concerns with regards to how various aspects of her proposed appearance at the commission has been handled or allegedly mishandled by the commission.”

“She gave an interview on ENCA in December about the shinanigans of Malusi with Guptas, so what changed?”

“I think it has to do with Zondo & jamwhatwhat’ s treatment of Mpofu on the ‘shut up’ matter! Norma is loyal to those around her. She obviously didn’t like what happened to her legal team!”

Norma has previously opened up about Gigaba’s dealings with the Gupta family. During her interview with Slindelo Masikane late last year on eNCA, Norma dished out some dirt on the former finance minister. She told Slindelo that Gigaba used to receive a lot of money from the Guptas.

“They used to give him a lot of money but I don’t know what they were giving him money for, but sometimes he used to say, ‘I do favors for them’, the Guptas, so then they would give him money. It was a lot of cash all the time so I don’t know what it was for, but he would use that money for different things, maybe it’s either for his lifestyle, to build his home or to give it to his sisters,” she said.

she also revealed that the former minister was addicted to porn: “he has a problem of porn addiction because he is always watching porn, and sometimes for him, it’s a fantasy. He will go and sleep with that person and people will catch feelings and then, Malusi is gone. People will then start reacting [saying], “you used me. I’m going to tell your wife,” she told the publication.

The Hawks arrested Norma last year in July for damaging a car worth over R3-million own by her ex-husband the former minister of finance Melusi Gigaba.
Last month, the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ruled that her arrest was unlawful.

According to IOL, Norma’s legal team indicated that they were finalising the court papers so she could sue the state and also for her to get her dignity back.

In her exclusive interview with eNCA late last year, Norma revealed that Gigaba used to include her in a statement without her concern, she also revealed that the former minister was addicted to porn.
“For him, it’s a fantasy. He will go and sleep with that person and people will catch feelings and then, Malusi is gone. People will then start reacting [saying], “you used me. I’m going to tell your wife,” she told the publication.
Norma is currently trending on Twitter as South Africans are celebrating her victory.
Twitter user Aubrey tweeted: “Norma mngoma is being represented by the legal eagle advocate Dali mpofu. there is no way the NPA was going to secure a conviction in a ‘cooked (framed) case. The was never any prospects of success in this baseless, inconclusive matter… Norma Mngoma should sue for defamation.”

“Thank you @AdvDali_Mpofu SC for successfully representing Norma Mngoma, with your high-level legal experience, the case is withdrawn,” tweed @IamBrianKhumalo.

– Lawyer argues for case to be dropped after ConCourt finds her arrest unconstitutional.

Norma Mngoma’s lawyer has argued that the assault and malicious damage to property case against her be set aside. The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court yesterday postponed to 26 March for representations to be made to the National Director of Public Prosecutions and her bail was extended.

Advocate Dali Mpofu, representing Mngoma, argued that due to the high court ruling on Thursday that her arrest was motivated by an abuse of power, the case should be dropped.

He said it would be understandable for the state to require some time to study the judgment.

“The judgment speaks for itself and it would not be a difficult decision to withdraw or terminate the charges,” he told the court.

Mngoma won her high court battle after challenging her arrest by the Hawks in July 2020. Judge Cassim Sardiwalla ruled that the arrest was unlawful.

She was arrested after allegedly caused extensive damage to estranged husband ex-minister Malusi Gigaba’s Mercedes-Benz.

The High Court in Pretoria has ruled in favour of Norma Mngoma, finding that her arrest in July 2020, was unlawful and must be set aside.

Presiding Judge Cassim Sardiwalla delivered the judgement on Thursday, February 11, 2021 and granted Mngoma her application on an urgent basis.

“Having considered the facts of this matter – the argument from both counsel and the submissions that have been made…The application is granted on an urgent basis, the decision of the fourth and fifth respondent to apply for the warrant of arrest is unlawful,” Sardiwalla said.

Norma Mngoma’s stolen data must be restored
The court has further ordered that all the data taken from her gadgets be restored. Mngoma had complained that data from her devices has been mysteriously erased after the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), also known as the Hawks, seized some of her gadgets.

She said that a variety of data had been removed from her devices, including:

Emails sent and received between December 2014 and December 2015;
Emails regarding international trips undertaken between 2015 and 2018;
Text messages sent and received between 2014 and 2015;
Pictures taken during local and international trips.
“The respondents are ordered to restore all the information unlaefully removed from the applicant. The respondents are directed to return the information that was downloaded from the electronic gadgets of the applicants…” the judge said.

Mngoma was arrested by the Hawks in July for alleged domestic violence, assault, malicious damage to property, and crimen injuria. This is after she damaged a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, which was being driven by her husband – but owned by a friend, North West businessman Thapelo Tshephe.

Mngoma in the court papers said that the case against her “points to the extreme provocation and involuntary conduct traceable to the type of abuse many women face in our country at the hands of their spouses, who are serial philanderers”.

She is set to soon appear before the State Capture Commission, where she will detail what she knows about the extent of Gigaba’s relationship with the controversial Gupta family. Mngoma recently sat down with eNCA, and revealed that the Guptas had footed the bill for their wedding and had also paid Gigaba, in exchange for major favours.

Norma Mngoma has been through a lot with her much-publicised issues and separation with her ex-hubby Malusi Gigaba and this is probably the reason why she sounded aggressive and feisty during her interview with “My Own Kind of Beautiful”, a television program on Gau TV and Centtwins YouTube channel founded by twin sisters Innocent Sadiki, aka Mam-Letsoalo on Skeem Sam and TV presenter Millicent Mashile.

Norma (NM) sat down with Millicent (MM) and below are highlights of the interview:

MM ~What’s your take on women using a double-barrel or keeping maiden names after getting married?

NM ~ it’s an individual choice. I don’t regret changing my surname when I got married but I am excited to have my surname back. Surname change doesn’t change or mean anything, what makes the marriage is how you treat each other, the values and standards. I can be Norma Gigaba but then is my heart still there, am I happy? As young women, we get so excited after getting married especially the 1st time and we take the partner’s surname because we feel we now belong to their families and also as an expression of love but it’s not like that. Surname is just part of the process. In my next one, I will do a double barrel or even keep my surname. I changed my surname back to Mngoma even before the divorce could be finalized because I am not IN denial of reality. I did not want to hold on to things and give false hope to the community and say I am Mrs so and so. That purpose I gave it fully and served it with all my heart, I fought, I stayed but it has ended. I have no regrets with the journey and I have no bad feelings with the surname. I am still Gigaba at Home Affairs but in my heart, my businesses and everything I am doing, I am Mngoma. I am walking into a new chapter.

MM~ As a mom to boys, why is it important to let your sons see you reclaim your power?

NM ~ I want them to be best fathers one day and to know how to treat a woman and to not let another woman go through what I went through. They must learn from me. I am close to my boys and I teach them to pray, forgive and I always give them money to buy me flowers. I am grooming them in order for them to be the best partners that society expects men to be. Norma Mngoma Foundation grooms young boys.

MM ~ Are women more judgemental to you as a public figure?
NM ~ Yes, a lot, but I don’t take anything personal. If you don’t bring anything to my table and pay my bills, I don’t take you seriously, especially if you are not someone I can ask advice from. I react to society the way I like. I do things in my own way as I see fit no matter who says what.

MM ~ You have 1 million followers on Instagram which is huge and I am sure it comes with people always checking your life, your next moves, what you wear and other things?

NM ~ 50% of my followers love my dress sense and of course, I put efforts in what I wear. Dressing up is my life and I love doing it. Other followers are those who are after my scandals especially now with the court case but I am one person who does not entertain what happens around me even if I am in the front page on media. I am not my problems, they are just part of my life. I don’t nurse pain and I don’t allow problems to swallow me. Sometimes people ask me to take a break from Instagram but FOR WHO?
