TV actress, presenter, and businesswoman Boity Thulo, has reportedly dropped the assault charge against TV host, Bujy Bikwa.

In 2021, Boity opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm at the Midrand police station against Bikwa, following a nasty brawl at a hotel in Midrand, north of Joburg.

Boity was injured in the incident and required surgery to repair her face. South Africans canceled Bikwa, and as a result, he was unable to secure employment. In 2023, it appears like the two have come to an amicable agreement during a mediation session at the Midrand magistrate’s court, on Monday.

Speaking to TshishaLIVE, Bikwa said they have smoked the peace pipe and have moved on.

“We hugged, we spoke, and we are okay. We both agreed we are going to move on and be civil towards one another. I’m at peace, we are both at peace. I think it’s a lesson learned from me I think from both of us.”

“With this experience, I went through it and learned so much from it. Now I am now able to be a better advocate for no violence.” Bikwa said the occurrences drove him to depression and other issues, but he has learned his lessons.

“This thing broke me. Going through depression and suffering from social anxiety was the hardest thing I’ve had to go through. It’s been a year. I had to do my own healing. The silence for me was very important for my sanity. I don’t have anything to hide.

“I had to forgive myself and what had happened because at some point you don’t forgive yourself, thinking you should have walked away… There are so many emotions. If you sit in this hole you’re going to die in it. I never thought I’d be in such a situation.”“I don’t want to pretend that I’m fine when deep down inside my soul is crashing, and being in that space can be very overwhelming. Socially, if it’s not work-related I struggle but slowly and surely I am trying to adjust.”

Speaking to Nkululeko Nkewu in the “Nkululeko n Culture” podcast recently, Bikwa debunked claims that he hit Boity in the face with a bottle.

He said: “I regret that day … what was I doing there? I keep asking myself, why didn’t I go home?”

“I have never hit anyone with a bottle of champagne and I have never stabbed anyone.

– Bujy says he will always regret that fateful night.

Disgraced former Metro FM DJ and TV presenter Bujy Bikwa says he is ready to apologise to powerful sangoma Boity Thulo, over a year after he assaulted her.

Bujy attacked Boity with an alcohol bottle at the Courtyard Hotel, opposite the Mall of Africa in Midrand. The bottle cut Boity’s face and she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance for medical treatment. After receiving treatment at the local hospital, Boity opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm against Bujy. This attack on Boity took place after an argument between the two media personalities.

The incident, which happened in 2021, saw Bujy being condemned and isolated over the attack. ‍

“Nobody wants to be associated with me anymore.”

“I have suffered tremendously. financially, emotionally, and personally I am drained, “

“It’s radio season and I can’t even get a job because of the dark cloud hanging over me. But at the same time, I don’t want this phase to dim my talent,” he added.

Bujy revealed that he just wants to sit down with Boity and apologise. He says he has nothing against Boity, and if he could have things his way, he would turn things around for the better. He says that he has in the past tried to speak to Boity during one of their court appearances to smoke a peace pipe, but she did not entertain him. Bujy says if he can be offered a chance to speak to Boity and iron things out, and go back to that night, a lot can be resolved.

“With the restraining order she has against me, I can’t reach out to her. Most people who know the two of us and can play the role of peacemakers, do not want to intervene. They would rather stay away instead of helping me out,” said a disappointed Bujy. “The incident has really affected me badly, I am currently on depression treatment, and undergoing counselling,” he said.

Attempts to get a comment from Boity drew a blank as her phone was on voicemail.

Former radio personality, Bujy Bikwa, recently revealed that he lost two TV shows, as well as his house on a golf estate after the notorious altercation with Boity Thulo in 2021.

According to The South African, Bikwa told City Press that his life unraveled after the incident with Boity, something that caused him to lose a lot of things in his life.

Bikwa also said that he struggled to deal with social anxiety, as well as being labelled a “gender-based violence (GBV) perpetrator”.

“GBV is a very sensitive matter in this country. Just last week, a good friend of mine was beaten to a pulp by a lover. So, if someone says (the altercation) was a GBV case, I just say we are all adults here and we know what happened at that hotel. Let us let the law take its course. For me, I want to use this time to heal,” Bukwa was quoted as saying.

The incident between Bikwa and Boity occurred at a club in Midrand in 2021. Bikwa allegedly threw alcohol in Boity’s face which left her with severe cuts on her face, leading to hospitalisation.

Bikwa was arrested and sent to the Johannesburg correctional facility. He was later released on R2 000 bail.

He was disappointed that things got taken away from him, without anyone hearing his side of the story.

“I have decided not to fight because I told myself that, when the time is right the truth will come out.”

Bikwa has also been appreciative of the support he’s received from his family following the incident.

“My family was there for me. I had to start doing things I have never done before like having to pray and fast … I have learned to be in isolation. My sister had to hold my hand and my grandmother had to literally teach me how to read the Bible again. She told me to fix myself. Sometimes I laugh at where I was then,” he said.

South African media personality Bujy Bikwa reveals he lost two TV shows, and a house he stayed in at a golf estate since getting arrested in 2021 after an altercation with musician Boity Thulo at the Courtyard Hotel in Midrand.

The former Metro FM radio personality Bujy Bikwa says he was admitted for depression and lost out on two big TV shows and house after he made headlines in 2021 for allegedly assaulting media personality Boity Thulo.

Bikwa also tells City Press that he still battles social anxiety and that he was demonized and labeled as a gender-based violence (GBV) perpetrator.

“GBV is a very sensitive matter in this country. Just last week, a good friend of mine was beaten to a pulp by a lover. So, if someone says (the altercation) was a GBV case, I just say we are all adults here and we know what happened at that hotel. Let us let the law take its course. For me, I want to use this time to heal.”

The former media personalities were enjoying drinks with friends and a conversation about sangomas started, which resulted in the pair arguing.

Bikwa allegedly threw a glass of alcohol in Thulo’s face, which left her with a cut and resulted in her hospitalisation.

Bikwa was arrested and sent to the Johannesburg Correctional Centre in October 2021 and was later released on R2 000 bail.

“I missed two television shows. The first one I was supposed to shoot last year and the second one was coming this year. So those are all gone. I know they are both on television now. I have seen them.”

Bikwa adds that one of the most heartbreaking things for him was to see everything being taken away from him without anyone willing to hear his side of the story.

“It was more [a case] of who is more popular, who is more believable, and it was easy for me to stay silent for the longest time because I am male. I have decided not to fight because I told myself that, when the time is right the truth will come out.”

Bikwa said jobs started drying up and he could not afford to stay in his new apartment and could not afford to pay his medical fees.

“Even with my deejaying residency, they had put me on hold and said they wanted to understand what is currently happening first before I could go back. So many people did not want to touch me. Other people thought it was too soon for me to start booking the jobs,” he said.

“My family was there for me. I had to start doing things I have never done before like having to pray and fast … I have learned to be in isolation. My sister had to hold my hand and my grandmother had to literally teach me how to read the Bible again. She told me to fix myself. Sometimes I laugh at where I was then.”

City Press reports that Bikwa has now joined the Khuzekani Madoda organization.

Bujy Bikwa says he wants to denounce misconceptions surrounding gender-based violence after his name was dragged into that conversation because of his altercation with Boity Thulo.

The media personality, who has joined the Khuzekani Madoda organisation for an anti-GBV 5km walk to take place on Sunday, told TshisaLIVE that he felt that South Africans had a false understanding of what it meant.

“I realised with me that South Africans do not have the knowledge of what GBV is. The altercation that happened between me and the other lady is that everybody thinks the fight happened because I attacked her because she was female, not knowing that she attacked me first and called me all derogatory names and consistently reminded me that I am a male, she must hit and I must take the beating,” he claimed.

This comes after Bujy faced charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm early in October after he got into a brawl with Boity. Boity had released an official statement — which she has since deleted — on her Instagram, labelling the incident as gender-based violence.

“What shocked me the most was that when I came out of prison seven days after feeling so bad for throwing that glass and saying that I could’ve chosen to be a better person, one of the journalists in court said that the statement she released was that she was a victim of GBV. I cried so badly.”

Tweeps reacted to the news of the anti-GBV initiative saying that it was inappropriate and absurd.

Bujy, however, says this is but his first step in breaking his silence and educating people about gender-based violence.

“Joining the walk was moving the silence from me and also taking ownership of what happened. Instead of just sitting back and taking the backlash as if I’m guilty,” he said.

“With this walk, I wanted people to understand that also men suffer from so much abuse. I am aware that with the incident, I gave homophobes a platform to use against us.”

Speaking of his ongoing legal case with the Wuz Dat hitmaker, Bujy said he wanted to hash things out as “two adults” instead of letting it drag in court.

“We’re just waiting for a legal team honestly … on her side … not mine … if it was up to me, I would have loved to have a conversation about it and be comfortable two adults. Let’s all take accountability and find a way to move on … I know what I have lost and I really [think] the sooner we sit down together and find a solution, the better.”

Bujy Bikwa has found himself trending for all the wrong reasons — again — after tweeps mocked him for participating in an upcoming march against gender-based violence (GBV), barely a month after being accused of assaulting Boity Thulo.

The stars have been involved in a bitter legal battle after Boity filed a case against Bujy for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following a physical altercation at a hotel in Midrand last month.

Now the media personality has added his name to the list of stars who are calling for an end to violence against women and children in the protest action…

Bujy is set to appear as a celebrity guest at the upcoming 5km anti-GBV march which takes place on 7 November in Roodeport, Johannesburg.

The protest has been facilitated by the organization Khuzekani Madoda, who will also use the opportunity to promote a new single and sell their merchandise.

But tweeps are confused – and angered – at the star’s involvement after he admitted to assaulting Boity during a drunken fight last month.

One tweep commented said of Bujy’s involvement: “The audacity”.

A second added: “Not Bujy of all people leading a march against GBV. Undermining his followers’ intelligence”

A third tweep posted: “Bujy needs to quit whatever it is that he’s on. How does he raise awareness against GBV while he’s an abuser himself?”

Plenty more called for Bujy to be cancelled altogether…

Meanwhile, KS Musique Agency, one of the sponsors behind the GBV march, has defended Bujy Bikwa’s involvement, claiming that he was invited as a guest to participate.

A Twitter account belonging to the company posted: “Bujy is not leading any march, he is invited to participate against GBV.

“GBV is a serious crime and we are providing a platform for our communities to get educated”.

They also defended the march itself from criticism.

They added in another social media post: “This awareness campaign on GBV is a platform to educate our communities on gender-based violence but mostly to reach out to young men in society who grow up with no mentors or father figures to guide them.

“The need to create a platform to mentor boys and young men of color is very important”.

More audio has emerged from the night of the altercation between Boity Thulo and Bujy Bikwa.

In the audio, Boity sounds audibly shaken and afraid after she emerged from the pool following a “reading” with Bujy and his ancestors.

The media personalities were at Huawei’s official launch of the new Nova8 cellphone in Midrand, Johannesburg, over a week ago.

In an interview with the publication, one witness alleged that Boity insisted on giving unsolicited “readings” in her capacity as a traditional healer (sangoma). Boity’s readings were reportedly met with much resistance, which aggravated her even further in the witness’s opinion.

This second audio shared with The Citizen was prior to the attack.

“This is f***cking scary. It’s scary. It was scary,” repeats Boity.

People can be heard in the background asking her what happened. Boity tells them that she fell into the water and she felt afraid when she emerged.

There was some commotion as the people present tried to figure out what had transpired.

Boity then says she’s “fine”.

Listen: More audio of what transpired before Boity and Bujy’s altercation:

When Bujy surfaces in the audio, a woman tells him to back off, asks him did he also do a reading and did his ancestors also reach out to him.

“Did she swim out?” he asked.

“uBoity she’s still small, I’m glad I proved myself… Whose the bigger bitch now? ” adds Bujy.

“Don’t summon someone who can’t save you,” he says.

Bujy Bikwa details his side of the story

TV and Radio personality Bujy Bikwa has finally responded to the allegations that he assaulted media personality Boity Thulo last Tuesday at an event in Midrand.

In the statement he released, Bujy said he feels victimized because he was not given a chance to tell his side of the story.

“I was verbally abused and told that my surname has no relation to who I am and because of that, that is why my career is going nowhere in terms of growth, in fact, “what is it that I do in the media industry because I am actually nothing!” he said.

He revealed that during the verbal confrontation, he was also physically assaulted, “being kicked and punched while being told that “I am a man, I am a man,” I must take it. The pain of suffering of having to let a woman abuse me verbally and physically while trying to contain myself and holding her hands to stop was not enough until witnesses managed to defuse the situation. That did not make matters subtle, as it was continued that I was insulted.”

He said he then unintentionally threw a glass of wine that he was holding at her out of frustration without any intention to cause harm. And he acknowledges that things could have been handled differently, “and I sincerely do apologize for how it ended.” he said.

Bujy said after the incident, he tried reaching out to Boity with no luck. “I then spoke to my management team and advised them about what had transpired on Tuesday evening and what I had tried to achieve in resolving the matter before the necessity of taking further action,” he explained.

He spent a couple of days in police custody after he reportedly handed himself over to the police. He was released on R2000 bail this Wednesday with conditions that he does not get in contact with Boity.

The presenter said the past few days have been difficult for him because of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) allegations leveled against him, “I have been accused of GBV which in no way sits well with me as I have been labeled as an abuser.” he continued to say that he is not an abuser and he is sad that people are believing and siding with one side of the story.

He said he has also opened a case of common assault against “the culprit” for physically attacking him.

“….and after being in pain from the injuries I sustained for 7 days, being held in police custody, I have received medical attention and have filled my medical records towards my counter case.”

@landback_ “When Mohale ALLEGED domestic violence against Somizi everyone was against Somizi and he was removed from idols. When Bujy Bikwa ACTUALLY assaulted (to death) Boity there is silence. Everytime foreigners rape, assault or kill ..nobody calls them trash! Amakwerekwere r lucky!”

@jessy_jessss “Mohale didn’t get the support he needed from the masses, people even tagged idols pleading with them to bring Somizi back but were very much okay when Katlego basically lost jobs.”

Clip of Boity and Bujy Bikwa’s fight leaked – What really happened that night: LISTEN

As Bujy Bikwa and Boity Thulo’s battle continues, details have emerged about what happened prior to their fight at a Midrand Hotel last week.

Several witnesses have come forward over the last few days to state that Boity seemed aggravated on the night of the fight.

Bujy and Boity were among a number of people invited to what was meant to be Huawei’s official launch of the new Nova8 cellphone.

According to the witnesses, the Huawei Nova8 event was initially cancelled because of Johannesburg’s rainy weather on the day.

The Huawei publicity team reportedly decided to take guests out for dinner to make up for the cancellation and said dinner is estimated to have come to an end at around 9.30pm. Guests who were unable to make it home before curfew were booked into the nearby Courtyard Hotel where the fight between Bujy and Boity is said to have taken place.

It is alleged that Boity had gotten into several arguments on the evening prior to her altercation with Bujy.

In an interview with the publication, one witness alleges that Boity insisted on giving unsolicited “readings” in her capacity as a traditional healer (sangoma). Her unwelcomed readings were reportedly met with much resistance, which aggravated Boity even further in the witness’ opinion.

At some point during the evening, Bujy reportedly tried to step in and calm Boity down and she did not take too kindly to him attempting to do so.

Listen to what happened the night Bujy Bikwa and Boity Thulo got into a physical altercation:

In audio shared with the publication, Bujy and Boity can be heard berating and insulting each other.

“Is this how weak you are? With such aggressiveness?” Bujy asks Boity in the audio clip.

“I’m a bigger person than him, everyone thinks he’s like… no one. No one know[s] who he is,” retorts Boity in the clip.

“He’s like a nobody, everytime he shows up anywhere, why is this guy even around?” she adds.

“I can receive that. I can receive that, it’s fine,” responds Bujy.

Someone can then be heard making a reference to Sodom and Gomorrah before Bujy calls Thulo’s ancestors fake. This after the pair reportedly entered the hotel’s pool as part of a “reading” in which Thulo’s ancestors manifested with a message for Bujy.

“O tswasitse masepa my love!” shouts Bujy at Boity, telling her that she underwent initiation for nothing before accusing her of lying. He then went on to make reference to her mother’s genitals.

“This is still okay, let’s see where your career goes!” replies Boity.

The people in the audio clip can then be heard shouting “no” in a moment that sounds like a reaction to Bujy emptying his drink all over Boity. He tells the crowd that he can do it again because “nobody says such bullsh**”.

“You’re just a fat f*** baby. Nobody knows who the f*** you are” adds Boity and Bujy screams “everybody is gonna know who the f*** I am after I f*** Boity up”.

Screams can then be heard before someone yells “that’s a cut” and “guys, can we defuse this?”
