“And it’s definitely taken a toll on the kids not having their mom with us. “I’ve picked up all the household responsibility and for the first time ever, realise what it’s been like when I go on tours. It’s not easy.

“I know of so many people who are really suffering watching loved ones affected by Covid or they have physically been affected and want to remind us all it’s our responsibility to do everything we can to stop the spread.

“Thank you to all of the medical workers who are going above and beyond to care for our loved ones when we can’t.
“Let’s continue to remember the seriousness of this virus and do everything we can to protect those around us. Every time they hurt themselves and my immediate reaction has been to get up and go to them then I realise I can’t leave the room.

“And the days they’ve stood outside begging me to touch, kiss and hold them because they don’t understand. Honestly it’s been one of the hardest things I’ve experienced as a parent.

“I’m doing well otherwise, I’m still struggling with my chest – mostly at night, but grateful when I have time outside in the fresh air – the small things I usually take for granted.

Dr Tumi’s Dad has died

The year 2020 has claimed so many lives due to Covid 19 and other natural causes. Dr Tumi announced yesterday that he lost his dad, Pastor MD Makweya.

Dr Tumi’s Dad has died

“Hi Fam. So sad to announce about the passing of my dear dad. He was such a beautiful gift to our family and the body of Christ. So humbled and honoured for the years God blessed me with him in my life. It was such a great honour to be called his son. One of the greatest gift was him raising me to know Christ and showing me the unfailing love of a father. This is such a great loss in my life and our family. I will deeply and greatly miss him. ” said Dr Tumi on Facebook.

Dr Tumi’s Dad has died

Everyone who knows Dr Tumi will tell that he is fond of his dad. He always speaks about how well and Godly he raised them and how he loved them. In an interview with Anele on Real Talk, Dr Tumi said his dad bought him his first keyboard when he was 9. He used to play the church keyboard that was kept at home but his hero dad then decided to buy him one because he could see that there is something musical in him. His dad always wanted him to be an academic but he also knew that he was going to be a musician. His late father was a pastor at Assemblies of God, a church-based in Seshego, Limpopo.

Pastor MD Makweya was supportive of Dr Tumi’s music calling and him and elders of the church always invited Dr Tumi to minister to them. “I was invited by the elders at Assemblies of God to perform in the church’s National Youth Convention in Thaba-Nchu, Free State,” he says. “Ministering in the church I grew up in was humbling. It brought all the beautiful childhood memories.” said Dr Tumi.

Born Tumisang Makweya, Dr Tumi studied medicine at the Medical University of Southern Africa (Mendusa) for six years. He started his own medical practice in Mabopane where he practiced for about 10 years before his music career took off. Earlier this year, Dr Tumi landed a helping hand in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. This was his way of giving back to the community. He volunteered at Tembisa Hospital and other local hospitals at their Covid-19 units.

Dr Tumi has not announced the cause of his dad’s death but has revealed that the burial will be limited to family only due to Covid restrictions. Condolences to The Makweya family at large and may Pastor MD Makweya rest in peace!
