Controversial artist and activist, Ntsiki Mazwai never liked Somizi Mhlongo, but we can compile a list of the many celebrities she despises. But her focus tends to shift to one person at a time and this time, Somizi is catching the heat.

A clip circulated of a fight that broke out between Somizi Mhlongo and Thembi Seete after the Sunday broadcast of IdolsSA.

Social media users have been arguing whether the fight was staged or not, especially because they are in a bid to keep the numbers up.

Ntsiki Mazwai chimed in on the debate and relayed her thoughts about Somizi being rehired in the first place. She questioned why Somizi got hired back on Idols when he is apparently a s.e.x offender. “Somizi is a convicted sex offender… He paid a fine. He was even arrogant in court. He is a sex offender. He is on the list that the president said would be made public.”

Ntsiki even said Somizi has always been jealous of alpha females, and his attack on Thembi is not new.

But it was this statement that did not sit well with a lot of people and so the insults started rolling in.

Ntsiki ruffled a few feathers when she said this but she stood her ground and said the LGBTQI community does not like to call each other out, labeling them toxic.

On whether she thinks the fight was staged or not, Ntsiki said she does not think so and added that they kept the footage for ratings, “It wasn’t staged…It happened off air and the 0roduxtion decided to use it for ratings and drama because they are not doing well after hiring a convicted sex offender.”

Ignoring and blocking the trolls, Ntsiki continued slamming Idols for hiring Somizi back on the singing competition. She even said none of the judges are qualified to judge because they cannot sing.

The poet tipped her hat off at Thembi Seete for standing up against Somizi.

Ntsiki Mazwai is not one to keep quiet when she has something to say – no matter how controversial the thing she wants to say is. She has once again garnered some backlash on social media after sharing her opinion on black men who choose to shave their heads bald. According to Mazwai, men who do this are no better than black women who wear wigs and weaves because they are all attempting to cover up their blackness.

As usual, many people headed to the comment section of Mazwai’s post to share their thoughts on the subject – mostly disagreeing with the poet and now podcaster’s opinion. South African human rights activist Ntsiki Mazwai is well-known for ruffling feathers.

In fact, Ntsiki relishes a life of stirring controversy online and makes a habit of posting content that either sparks fierce debates or makes people question her sanity.
She has once again sparked a serious conversation about black people and what they choose to do with their hair. This after she tweeted that black men who shave off their hair are no better than wig-wearing black women.

According to Mazwai, these men shave off their natural hair before their “blackness” has an opportunity to show.

“Black men with no hair and brush cuts are no different from women in weaves. Self-hate on fleek. You chop it off before it shows your blackness,” she tweeted on Thursday afternoon last week.

Poet and activist Ntsiki Mazwai says African elders’ and traditional healers’ bodies need to come together and mend the broken communication between the generations.

This comes after Ntsiki criticised dancer and reality TV star Zodwa Wabantu for wearing ancestral beads while gyrating half-naked, saying it was disrespectful to the African culture.

“There needs to be more control in these initiation schools. In other spiritual practices you go through processes and there are elders and there are Gobelas. Also in African spirituality who have spent many years doing this. So this thing where we disregard the elders is a problem because then as the youth we start making up our own rules, and when you make up your own rules that’s when you are going to mess up with spirits and then we all know that messing with spirits can go horribly wrong.”

A tendency that Sangoma and African spiritual teacher Gogo Dineo Ndlanzi also noticed about the youth is lack of patience.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, at a panel discussion hosted by Castle Milk Stout on April 25 she said the most important tool to have on one’s spiritual journey was patience.

“When you are impatient don’t even bother to start. Go find out why you are impatient, deal with that, because our youth, especially the ones born in the 1990s, are very impatient.

“We don’t blame them because the programme was set for everything, they were born into — a programme of a sense of entitlement more than anything. So already they say, ‘no this thing is taking too long, I want to see changes now’.”

Ntsiki said black people need to go back to the basics of having conversations where information and knowledge were passed down from the older generations to the new.

“In ancient times there was a circle between the young and the old, and that was how information was transferred .There was a full circle from the young to the old and from the old to the young. So there’s been a disruption of the communication by colonialism and we need to start having conversations around how do we come back to being African.

“We keep doing it in trends but until we are fully committed to going back to ourselves we are going to continue losing ourselves and we will continue not having anything and not owning anything.”

Shocked by the lack of outrage after the video clip of Zodwa Wabantu that emerged on the socials she said people cant be left to their devices.

“I definitely think we need traditional bodies to regulate this, I’m so ready for that. We need to lay down law and to have control. We need control in the black nation. People can’t just do as they please. Another thing is that some people think they have amaDlozi but it is sometimes unhealed childhood trauma. And if they went to therapy you will find that they don’t do most of the stuff that they do. So we can’t allow our things to be disrespected. They have been disrespected enough.”

Ntsiki Mazwai calls out Nadia Nakai for protecting AKA

Ntsiki Mazwai expressed her concern after Nadia Nakai and AKA thrashed the assault claim.

The two lovers traveled to Ghana for a few days and it was reported that Kiernan abused his girlfriend, Nadia.

Reacting to the report, the two shared a joint statement saying it never happened and further sued the company that published the fake news.

Meanwhile, before the joint statement was released, it was reported that Nadia claimed it was just an argument.

Taking to Twitter, Ntsiki kicked against those protecting AKA in a series of tweets; she frowned at the incident and recounted that AKA’s former lover who is now late suffered abuse from the rapper.

Though, AKA had dismissed assaulting his ex-lover, Nelli Tembe; he revealed she was struggling with depression.

Despite Supa Mega’s dismissal of abusing any of his lovers, Ntsiki still thinks otherwise.

“Where there is physical assault by a man on a woman; it’s not a fight. It’s GBV. But we have been here with AKA before and you applauded him. It wasn’t a fight. Women are not equal to men physically. An abuse of physical power is GBV”
