she said she discovered that her kids are also going through the same thing.
“Sadly I learnt in 2016 that my kids are also being bullied for their skin colour. I got so emotional and realised we are living in a socially ill society that must be educated because there are people who can’t stand up for themselves. Bullying is a poison that kills someone slowly on the inside”

Relations between Ndlovu and the general manager strained. SABC2’s multilingual drama Muvhango has been rocked by a s.e.xual harassment scandal that resulted in the acrimonious fallout between the accused, soapie general manager Mbijana Manatha and creator Duma Ndlovu.

Manatha and Ndlovu are long-time friends who grew up together in Soweto.

Manatha believes the accusations were part of Ndlovu’s elaborate plan to kick him to the kerb for cancelling a lucrative catering tender that the company awarded to Ndlovu’s female acquaintance.

According to staff members, who did not want to be named for fear of victimisation, the behind-the-scenes drama came to the fore when a staffer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, laid a s.e.xual harassment complaint against Manatha last year.

The staffer said the woman claimed that she shared what happened with her colleague, who advised her to report the incident to her head of department.

The staffers said Manatha, in his defence, refuted the allegations.

“He stated that he went to the area where the coffee is made and the woman was at the coffee area.
“He stated that she bent over and that her back was exposed. He stated that he patted her on the back with his finger and said ‘don’t expose your figure.’

He said he did not touch the exposed part of the employees’ body and also denied that he put his hands on her waist, adding they then laughed and carried on making coffee.

“He said he did not know why she said those words because they made no sense. He feels there is a vendetta [against him] and it is like she is being coached,” said the staffer.

The staffer also said a law firm, which was contracted to conduct investigations, did not pronounce Manatha guilty of s.e.xual harassment, but suggested that because of his seniority in the company, he apologise to the complainant.

The firm also recommended that a written warning be given to him, but Manatha refused to apologise.

Ndlovu and new CEO Mandla kaNozulu also tried to coerce Manatha to apologise in exchange, so that the complainant does not press criminal charges against him, but he refused and chose to go to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

The CCMA did not find him guilty of the alleged offence.

The staffer said Manatha felt the s.e.xual harassment case was fabricated as part of Ndlovu’s elaborate plan to get rid of him after he cancelled a catering contract awarded to Ndlovu’s female ally.

This after maggots were found in the food she gave to some cast and crew who suffered food poisoning and were admitted to hospital.

“Ndlovu was upset with Manatha and said he did not give her a chance to prove herself about a year ago.

“That strained their relationship and sometimes Ndlovu would come to the office and not even talk to him,” said the staffer.

The staffer also said after the cancellation of the contract, Ndlovu hired Kanozulu as CEO. Kanozulu later convened a meeting and introduced a new company organogram that did not include the general manager position.

“Since then, Manatha has just been working there without a job title. You could see that they just wanted to frustrate him out of the system,” said the staffer.

The staffer said Manatha was concerned that his plea to Ndlovu to get the complainant to apologise to him after he won the case at the CCMA was ignored.

The staffer also said Manatha was charged again and suspended on Friday last week on charges related to value-added tax.

“They sent a driver to his house in Roodepoort to confiscate the company laptop and other equipment after suspending him,” said the staffer.

Thanduxolo Jindela, Muvhango’s spokesperson, said: “We would like to put it on record that it’s not true that Mr Manatha was exonerated by the CCMA of the s.e.xual harassment charge. Word of Mouth Pictures takes issues of this nature seriously. We will do everything to make sure that employees charged with such face the necessary procedures.

“Mr Manatha went through a DC and was found guilty. The CCMA matter did not involve the merits of the case,” he said. Manatha declined to comment.

Muvhango collapse of friendships raise eyebrows

The collapse of the friendship between Muvhango’s Imani played by Zonke Mchunu, Marang played by Sharon Seno, Gugu played by Bukamina Cebekhulu and Rendani played by Innocentia Makapila, has left many viewers’ tongues wagging wildly.

While some are blaming Marang for the collapse of her relationship with James, others are blaming Imani for getting between the two.

The friendship many viewers once thought was #muvhangofriendshipgoals is blowing up over a man. The once-inseparable besties had an unfortunate fall-out after Imani dated her friend’s fiance. This resulted in the crack of the relationship as Marang thought her girl gang would be supportive, and root for her after Imani stole her man.

Bukamina and Zonke who are friends in real life all agree that the betrayal that Marang suffered would not survive a real-life friendship.

“I feel with a friendship you think it’s going to last forever. You consider that person like your family and so you don’t see an end to that,” said Innocentia.

“Imani completely broke Marang’s heart. I don’t blame Marang for seeking revenge.”

Muvhango cast help student graduate by paying outstanding fees

The cast of SABC 2 soapie Muvhango has come together to help a student get his university results by making contributions towards his outstanding fees.

A few weeks ago, a student reached out on the Muvhango social media page asking for assistance in paying their student debt to obtain their results. The student had completed his degree but could not receive his results due to an outstanding balance for his fees.

Muvhango actors saw the message and asked each actor to donate whatever amount they could afford to pay for the student’s fees.

“The actors were very willing to help out,” says Word Of Mouth publicist Thanduxolo Jingela. “This did not come as a surprise as we all know how passionate everyone in the crew and cast is about education.”

Keeping the details of the student anonymous, Word Of Mouth Pictures Founder Duma Ndlovu called the actors’ charitable act, a responsibility.

“Education is at the core of our values and we want our viewers to benefit from being loyal to the show. It is our responsibility to help where we can.”

“And if the students wish to remain anonymous, it is their choice. It is our right to maintain the dignity of people in all we do.”

Their generous donation has inspired the Word Of Mouth to start the #HelpAStudentGraduateChallenge initiative where every month South Africans donate towards paying student fees for those in need.

Bukamina Cebekhulu who plays Gugu on Muvhango says, “Not many people come from privileged homes, and every opportunity I get to lend a helping hand is a blessing.”No matter how small the contribution may be, everything counts,” she adds.

The challenge aims to create a funding opportunity for students who owe university fees that are preventing them from graduating. The next phase will be extended to the public and hopefully see many students graduate in the future.

“We want students to be able to further their studies or seek employment without the burden of university debt,” Duma says. “We are appealing to all South Africans and businesses to support us. The main aim is to see hundreds of graduates being assisted.”

Why Muvhango’s New Hulisani Responded To Being Hated

Why Muvhango’s New Hulisani Responded To Being Hated

Why Muvhango's New Hulisani Responded To Being Hated

Muvhango took social media by storm last year when they replaced Khathu Ramabulana who played the first Hulisani with Burnett Gededger who plays the new Hulisani.

Although entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela hinted that the Queen Sono actor, Khathu Ramabulana had abruptly resigned from the show a few months back, Muvhango itself didn’t warn its fans on their social media…

Now Gededger who is super active on social media with 17k followers, has come out and replied to all the hate he’s received since his big break on the show.

The hurt actor tweeted:

“I don’t think I’ve ever received such a wide scale of hate projected at me like this. It’s mind blowing. Peace be with all their hearts.”

The fact of the matter is Muvhango’s fans were left in a state of confusion and fury because Ramabulana was one of their favorite actors on the show and Hulisani, was their favourite character before Burnet arrived.

The fans realised how great Ramabulana was and how better he was at portraying Hulisani when Burnett arrived.

The show went on a nationwide search for the new Hulisani and fans are still reeling and unimpressed with the new Hulisani because he’s got big shoes to fill.

Besides being less experienced in acting, in comparison with Ramabulana, he also seems younger than his on-screen wife, Rendani which they didn’t pick up with Ramabulana.

The on-screen chemistry between the old Hulisani and Rendani and the new Hulisani and Rendani is completely different

Ramabulana was more charming and carried the character well, whereas Burnett seems confused or lost half the time…he appears to be nervous!

Here are some reactions from viewers:

“He seems dumber than the previous Hulisani.’’

“The guy is Boring!!”

“What happen to the old one. I saw him last week moes.”

“Rendani’s ben10, that is.”

“Hai this one looks like he was hired ka di back doors. It’s painful for him to act .”

Hulisani is a recovering addict…addicted to gambling! His marriage appeared to be ending when he gambled his house, car and lost. His actions led to Rendani deciding that she won’t have kids with him in the future because he’s irresponsible.

Their marriage was falling apart because they didn’t know much about one another. The two eloped and didn’t follow tradition by paying lobola. Rendani’s family predicted that they wouldn’t make it. But that’s all in the past as Hulisani is in therapy and Rendani has moved back home.

Here is Ramabulana as the first Hulisani:
