Kwaito (Clement Maosa) from Skeem Saam on how he attempted to commit suicide twice

South African actor Clement Maosa recently opened up about how he attempted to commit suicide twice.

Clement Maosa who is popularly known for his on-screen role as Zamokuhle ‘Kwaito’ Seakamela-Maputla on Skeem Saam was one of the recent guests on Mac G’s Podcast and Chill.

Speaking on Mac G’s Podcast, Clement Maosa shared how he was born under unfavourable conditions, which included coming from a poor background and also losing both his parents at a young age.

He also detailed how he attempted to commit suicide not only once but twice. Detailing his first suicide attempt, Clement revealed that it happened right around the time his father passed away. He said he was going through a tough time when he attempted to take his own life.
” ….I tried eish I think I was going through a lot around that time. You know sometimes you get to a point where you just feel like the world is closing up on you, where you don’t see anywhere out. It is like you are in a tunnel but there is no sign of light.

He said that the first time he tried to kill himself, he ate Soft ‘n’ Free hair relaxer.

“The first time I actually chowed (ate) the hair remover thing…ermm Soft ‘n’ Free, yeah I just think I ate a lot of it and funny enough it did not do anything. Later on they gave me milk or something…”

Clement revealed that he was looking for something that looked like a chemical which is why he opted to eat the hair relaxer. He went on to reveal that there was once a time when his mother was seriously sick and he felt like he was about to lose her. The actor said that right around that time, he prayed to God to take him instead and spare his mother because he couldn’t imagine his siblings leaving without her.

On his second attempt, Clement revealed that he planned to hit head-on with an on-coming haulage truck. Clement said his father taught him how to drive at a young age and on that day he claims that he was driving alone in his father’s Toyota Cressida when he attempted to swerve towards the truck.

Meanwhile, recently on his birthday, Clement shared a touching message dedicated to himself as a form of encouragement for all the trials and tribulations he’s been through in his 30 years of life.

“Your parents left you as a teenager with nothing but look at you. You stood the worst of times and lost so many loved ones but look at you now. You were rejected so many times and told you are not talented but look at you. You attempted suicide twice but God knew it was not yet time, now look!,” reads part of the message.

Kabelo Mabalane has received backlash for taking part in a gender-based violence initiative that seeks to “empower” perpetrators to get help. This received mixed reactions from social media users who are baffled by his audacity to start a campaign where he sends out a positive message to perpetrators, especially after admitting to being a former abuser himself.

Kabelo and his wife actress Gail Mabalane partnered with other ZAleb couples Dr. Musa Mthombeni and his wife Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni, as well as actor Lerato Makhetha and his wife Phetola MmaBakoena Makhetha.

#NoExcuse is an initiative he started in partnership with Carling Black Label to end this worrisome act of violence between couples, referred to as Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The initiative wants wedding vows to be re-written and to include the promise to never abuse your partner in anyway, shape or form.

Phethola wrote on her IG that the initiative is in talks with the department of home affairs to ensure that people include this promise in their vows. There is even a petition to make this change effective, “@carlingblacklabel would like to re-write the wedding vows to acknowledge the promise never to harm or abuse your partner. A commitment that all South Africans can make to oppose domestic violence.

“The brand is working with the Department of Home Affairs to see how they can get the vow changed by the SA council of churches to include the commitment that all South African’s can make when they get married to oppose gender based violence,” she revealed.

This great initiative has all the right intentions to stop the surge of gender based violence in South Africa. The piercing pain in our hearts when we read about a story of women being murdered, abused or abused almost every day is too much to bear, and we certainly hope that every effort to eradicate this, comes to pass.

However, social media users are not impressed with Kabelo Mabalane’s statement, pointing out the fact that he openly admitted to being an abuser himself. “As a young man I too was a perpetrator of this shameful cowardly behaviour.

“The shame and the embarrassment made me shy away from these spaces and I’ve since learned that as important as it is to take full responsibility for this reprehensible unacceptable behaviour, I am also now at a place where I appreciate the importance of lending my voice to fighting this pandemic,” he wrote on social media.

Kabelo then encouraged perpetrators of gender based violence to seek help, “To the perpetrators there is hope and there is healing. Don’t be afraid to get help.”

Gail Mabalane also lent her voice to this initiative and said partners need to come together and end IPV and GBV. “Sadly, South Africa is facing 2 pandemics at the same time. As couples, we need to create healthy environments within our homes to start having these hard conversations honestly. Change can only come when we face this head-on. ??

“To my sisters…I pledge my support as an ally. To the men…I’d like to encourage you to DO THE WORK.”

Now the conversations are different on Instagram and Twitter. On IG people are commending the couple for taking this stand on helping out with this matter. But on Twitter, people are baffled that Kabelo admitted to being an abuser but still wanting to encourage men to seek healing. Many are worried of the fact that he made no mention of the abused women and their healing.

Some tweeps want to know why he did not divulge on his own experiences as an abuser. Here are the reactions:

South African musician and Kwaito star, Kabelo Mabalane has taken to social media to reveal that he has lost his uncle. In his heartfelt post, Mabalane revealed that his uncle comes from a generation of freedom fighters.

Malome Danny personified what servant leadership meant. To him, it was never about titles but rather about function.

I salute Malome and his generation of freedom fighters because of their commitment, it was never conditional, they stayed true to the cause regardless.”

Mabalane adds that his late uncle’s attitude as a servant is what has impacted him the most. He was a Robben Island detainee and served as president of the South African Students Movement in 1976.

“Over everything else, his attitude as a servant is what impacted me most about his life and it is an attribute I always strive to emulate.

My uncle, a Robben Island detainee charged with sedition, a parliamentarian in the first democratically elected SA government, served as president of the South African Students Movement which was responsible for the June 1976 uprising.

Another passing scam has hit ZAlebville and this time it is of an apparently debilitated Kwaito genius Zola 7. Throughout recent weeks, muso Zola 7 was said to have been extremely sick as he is experiencing ongoing epilepsy and had required the public’s help with his rising medical clinic bills.

Recently evening, a Facebook client by the name of C’yabonga DjGusheshe Nkosi reported that Zola 7 had kicked the bucket because of cardiovascular breakdown. Nonetheless, that equivalent client later apologized that he declared his demise bits of hearsay without confirming current realities, saying he got a bogus update. He said that Zola is alive and that he didn’t want for his destruction. Another online media client Godfada Yekasi affirmed that Zola is alive and that he had gotten off the telephone with him a couple of moments prior to posting the screen capture of their call.

They regularly say lies spread quicker before reality gets an opportunity to get into it’s jeans. Information on an individual’s passing is certainly not a charming one particularly if the individual is especially alive.

Tweeps have been quite agitated, incensed at the bogus information on Zola’s passing saying the family has not delivered any authority correspondence so the legend can’t be dead.

It is no secret that Zola 7’s health is not at it’s perfect state as the singer is epileptic. He had suffered several attacks whilst driving on the road, and that resulted in him staying far away from the steering wheel. A recent video of him with a friend though suggests that he has taken the courage to face the wheel again and we are loving his courageous act.

Kwaito artist dumps show after being paid R10 000 deposit for performance

Kwaito artist Thebe Mogane is in hot water after a no-show for his performance at Fafatse Cafe in Maseru, Lesotho, on December 31, for which he was paid an R10 000 deposit.

Berry Matseletsele from Lasberry Entertainment, which organized the gig, said that he incurred the wrath of the crowd after they were told that the muso was no longer coming.

Though the organizers pleaded with the sold-out crowd to be calm, their pleas fell on deaf ears as they hurled insults at them.

Matseletsele told a local publication, “His no-show caused a lot of reputational damage for us. It was embarrassing to explain to the fans that he did not pitch for the gig. “Some fans did not believe us, they thought we had duped them into believing that he was part of the show to attract more crowds.”

Though Thebe has lost his shine in South Africa, he is still a hit in the Kingdom of Lesotho.

The organizers have since taken him to court after the Abuti Bula Boot hitmaker failed to pay back the money.

The publication is in possession of the contract, court papers, and proof of payment to the fading kwaito musician’s bank account.

Matseletsele said: “I was disappointed in Thebe when he decided to honour another event when we were the ones who booked him first.

“He failed to honour our agreement not to accept other bookings in Maseru on that day, he went ahead and took another and failed to pitch for our gig.

“What irritates me the most is that he is no longer taking our calls. He had the audacity to lie when the authorities called him regarding this matter.”

Matseletsele further added, “I don’t think we will ever work with him in the future because he is treating us like no-bodies.” Mogane, who released his debut album Tempy Pusher in 1995, refused to comment.
