Kim Kardashian Buys L.A. Home from Kanye West for $23 Million amid Divorce

Kim Kardashian West is keeping her home in Hidden Hills, California, amid her divorce with estranged husband Kanye West.

According to legal documents filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Oct. 12 and obtained by PEOPLE on Monday, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum, 40, has acquired the former couple’s house — and “all finishings, furniture, fixtures, appliances’ collectibles, silver and art currently located in said Residence” — for $23 million as part of their ongoing divorce proceedings.

The filing states that $20 million of the agreed-upon price is allocated for the the property itself, while $3 million is going towards its contents.

The residence was appraised by an independent appraiser in June 2020, according to the documents.
Kardashian West and West, 44, purchased the house for a reported $20 million in 2014 and worked with Belgian architect Axel Vervoordt to create a unique all-white interior for the space.

The pair — who share four children, North, 8, Saint, 5½, Chicago, 3½, and Psalm, 2 — stayed with Kardashian’s mom, Kris Jenner, during renovations and moved into the residence in December 2017.

Jenner tweeted in April 2018 that the house had reached a worth of $60 million.
In September, PEOPLE obtained legal documents filed by Kardashian West’s neighbor asking a judge to stop the reality star from adding various features to the property, including “underground vault, subterranean parking, an attached subterranean ‘wellness center’ and a detached guardhouse.”

The filing — which was made by resident Sarah Key and named the Hidden Hills Community Association, not Kardashian West, as the respondent — requested that the Association end the SKIMS designer’s plans to “flatten two hills” and build upon “two high-pressure gas transmission lines,” as she feels that the neighborhood should keep its “natural and rustic county setting” and building upon the gas lines will put “Hidden Hills community members at risk of catastrophic bodily injury and irreparable real personal property damage.

The documents also stated that the plans “can and will cause irreparable harm at a minimum to the destruction of two hills of Hidden Hills” and “moving forward these two development projects may cause loss of a life

Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West are reportedly maintaining platonic bond as they still enjoy a ‘working relationship’, but are ‘not back together’. Kim and Kanye called time on their marriage earlier this year after seven years together, and although they’ve continued to spend time together, sources have insisted they’re only maintaining a platonic and work-based relationship. The pair are also co-parenting their four children, North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, two.

The exes are enjoying friendly relationship even after their split as they appeared to have dinner together this week. Kim and her estranged husband Kanye were seen leaving Nobu Malibu together after dining out with their friends Tracy and Ray Romulus.

The 40-year-old reality star and the Hurricane hitmaker reportedly discussed personal and business related matters while enjoying pleasant moments together amid divorce.

The mom-of four was looking gorgeous in a purple sating outfit from neck to toe, complete with matching gloves. She also wore a long brown leather coat as well as dark sunglasses for the evening meal.

On the other hands, Kanye, 44, also rocked sunglasses paired with an all-black outfit and baseball cap for the dinner date with his estranged wife. The couple reportedly left the restaurant together in the same car at the end of the night.

Kim Kardashian West will not change her name after her divorce from Kanye West is finalised, because she wants to have the same last name as her children. The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star added West to her surname when she tied the knot with Kanye in 2014, and after she filed for divorce earlier this year, it was assumed she would go back to being known as Kim Kardashian after the paperwork was finalised.

However, sources have informed TMZ that Kim will be keeping her extra moniker, because it’s “important for her to keep the same last name as her four children” – North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, Psalm, two.
Kim’s decision to keep West in her name comes as Kanye has filed to have it removed from his own moniker, as he is looking to change his full name – Kanye Omari West – to simply “Ye
The “Heartless” rapper said in legal documents that his decision to change his name is for “personal” reasons, but he did not give any further information on his reasoning.

In California, a judge has to sign off on someone trying to legally change their name, and in most cases, the change has to be published in several newspapers. Meanwhile, it was recently claimed the former couple have a “friendly relationship” but are not “getting back together.

An insider said: “Kim and Kanye have a friendly relationship. It’s always been important to Kim to have a good relationship with Kanye. They are not getting back together though. She accepted his lunch invitation earlier this week because they are at the point now when they can hang out. There are no hard feelings.

“Kim still appreciates Kanye’s business advice and guidance. She is happy that they can hang out. For a long time, Kanye was very upset and disappointed that Kim filed for divorce. She understood why and gave him space.

Reality star Kim Kardashian West reveals she didn’t pass her “baby bar” law exam.

The 40-year-old star – who has been following in her late father Robert Kardashian’s footsteps by trying to be a lawyer – told sisters Kourtney and Khloe the disappointing news in scenes filmed in October 2020.

In a sneak peek for this week’s episode of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” revealed by E! Online, she said: “So you guys, I did not pass the baby bar.”

Speaking to the camera, Kim later explained the structure of her studies, and insisted her route is “harder” than the average path.

She added: “If you are doing law school the way I’m doing it, it is a four-year program instead of your typical three-year programme.

In a flashback clip, her mentor Jessica Jackson told Kim that she needed 560 to pass the exam, and although she got 474 on her first try, she shouldn’t be disheartened.

The attorney said: “That is extremely close on a test that most people are not taking in the middle of a pandemic.”

However, the reality star was still critical of herself as she pointed out how “important” this journey is for her.

She told her siblings: “I am a failure. I spent six weeks straight, 10 to 12 hours a day, studying and it was so important for me to take this. And to not pass gets your spirit down and just makes you want to give up.”

Kourtney replied: “I feel like dad would be really proud of you regardless, just the fact that you’re pursuing this.”

And Khloe added: “I think it’s highly respectable what you’re doing. I think the time that you get taken away from your family, your kids…”

Kim insisted that is the issue and she isn’t sure if she’ll be able to put herself through it all again.

And when Khloe suggested she retake the exam in June 2021, she argued: “I don’t want to wait another year to go by for school. I feel like I just got to the end where I almost knew everything.”

Kim Kardashian West celebrates son’s birthday with a sweet message

Kim Kardashian West shared a new photo of her “sweetest baby”, son Psalm, to mark the tot’s second birthday on Sunday.

The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star and her estranged husband Kanye West’s boy Psalm turned two on Sunday and the brunette beauty was pleased to share Mother’s Day in the US with the youngster’s special day.

Kim – who also has North, seven, Saint, five, and Chicago, three, with Kanye – shared a new photo of Psalm on Instagram and wrote: “My Taurus baby Psalm. He turns 2 today on Mother’s Day.

“Such a special day to share together. He’s my child that looks most Armenian to me like my grandpa and reminds me so much of my dad. He is the sweetest baby ever!!!

“I can’t even describe his smile and sweetness that everyone just feels when they are with him. Psalm- you have brought such calmness and evenness into all of our lives! All of your cousins and siblings love you so much! You really are the joy of our crew! Mommy loves you SOOOOOO much!!!

Psalm’s grandmother, Kris Jenner, also paid tribute to the tot’s “sweet personality” and “tender spirit”.

Kim Kardashian West: I empathise with Britney Spears

Kim Kardashian West feels “a lot of empathy” for Britney Spears after watching her new documentary, “Framing Britney Spears”, as the reality star says she’s also been the subject of intense public scrutiny.

The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star watched the New York Times documentary this week – which explores the issues surrounding Britney’s fame, including her 2008 public meltdown which resulted in her being placed under conservatorship – and has said she relates to the star’s situation, because she understands how “traumatising” it can be to live in the spotlight.

Posting on her Instagram Story, Kim wrote: “So I finally watched the Britney Spears documentary this week and it made me feel a lot of empathy for her.

“The way the media played the big role in her life the way it did can be very traumatizing and it can really break even the strongest person.

“No matter how public someone’s life may seem, no one deserves to be treated with such cruelty or judgement for entertainment.

“Looking back at my own experiences, I remember a time when I felt this way. (sic)”

Kim, 40, went on to explain some of her own experiences with hate comments after she was trolled for her size when she was pregnant with her first child, North West.

She added: “When I was pregnant with North I was suffering from preeclampsia, which made me swell uncontrollably.

“I gained 60 lbs and delivered almost 6 weeks early and I cried every single day over what was happening to my body mainly from the pressures of constantly being compared to what society considered a healthy pregnant person should look like – as well as being compared to Shamu the Whale.

“Looking at all of the photos of myself online and in magazines made me so insecure and I had this fear of wondering if I would ever get me pre baby body back.

“I was shamed on a weekly basis with cover stories that made my insecurities so painful I couldn’t leave the house for months after. It really broke me. (sic)”

And the SKIMS founder says she hopes people will “reconsider” their actions when it comes to publicly shaming others in the future, as she believes it’s “always better to lead with kindness”.

She wrote: “Luckily I was able to take these frustrating, embarrassing feelings and channel it into motivation to get me where I am today, but to say this didn’t take a toll on me mentally would be a lie.

“I’m sharing this just to say I hope everyone involved in the business of shaming and bullying someone to the point of breaking them down might reconsider and instead try to show some understanding and compassion.

“You just never fully know what someone is going through behind the scenes and I’ve learned through my own experiences that it’s always better to lead with kindness. (sic)”

Kim Kardashian West wants to discuss marriage split with Oprah Winfrey

Kim Kardashian West wants to discuss her marriage split in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, so she can “face the public and be honest” about the end of her romance with Kanye West.

The 40-year-old reality star recently filed for divorce from Kanye West after almost seven years of marriage, and whilst the couple have not yet released a statement on their relationship status, it has now been claimed Kim wants to talk about the break-up with famed interviewer Oprah.

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Kim’s gearing up to do a big sit-down interview with Oprah to open up about her marriage split.

“She feels she needs to face the public and be open and honest about what really happened between her and Kanye, and address the rumour mill.

She’s biding her time and doesn’t want to be overshadowed by the Meghan interview, but she has already been planning the interview and wants it to be a two-part special. It will likely happen when all the loose ends of the divorce are tied up.”

The news comes after was reported this week that Kim and Kanye, 43, have listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their split.

Court documents also show the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star wants joint legal and physical custody of her and Kanye’s four children – North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, 21 months – as well as having spousal support terminated.

The couple will also refer to a prenuptial agreement signed before they tied the knot in 2014 when it comes to dividing their property and assets.

Meanwhile, a source has claimed that Kim has a “different vision of the world” to her estranged husband and the pair would clash over their differing opinions, especially when it came to raising their kids.

An insider said: “They have a different vision of the world and how their kids should be raised. Kim will always support Kanye and his causes and encourage him with their kids, but her future with work, family and life in general are strictly up to her. She makes it happen.

Kim will continue with her projects and so will Kanye. What they want in life and for their kids doesn’t always match.
