It’s A Girl – Bonang Matheba confuses fans with her Tweet

Bonang Matheba has once again managed to leave her fans bewildered after posting a very cryptic tweet this morning. The star who has kept her private life super private leaves fans wanting more every time she posts something that gives them a glimpse of it.

Bonang this morning said, “It’s a girl” and coupled it with heart emojis. The congratulatory messages kept flooding in and of course the insults. Queen B however was not referring to herself and was not in any way implying that she is pregnant with a girl.

The House Of BNG founder was congratulating Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for their pregnancy, saying they are expecting a baby girl. They revealed this in their latest explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Bonang Matheba Set To Move To The US

Bonang Matheba has seen it and done it all when it comes to South African entertainment and now it looks as if she has her sights set on conquering the global entertainment industry.

While she has been talking about her move to the States since the start of 2020, Covid 19 put her plans on hold. She has since been mum on the issue.

We were not sure if the move was still on the cards for Queen B or if it had been shelfed indefinitely.

Well, according to All for Women Bonang’s manager Davin Phillips confirmed it.

“He said her move is “Indeed, very much still on the cards, she has a lot of projects kicking off.”

So, yes she is well on her way to conquer the global entertainment industry.

If rumours are to be believed, she might be set to do just that as she becomes an even more integral member of the E! family.

To be fair, this latest speculation is very, well, speculative. It all began when Bonang spoke about her upcoming move to New York in an interview with local publication, IOL. The Being Bonang star revealed that she’s planning to move to the Big Apple after the 2020 Sun Met and many have wondered what plans she has for her big move.

It didn’t take long for someone to ask her if she’s joining E! News in the USA and when quizzed on the possibility she replied, “That dream is still big. Ryan Seacrest is still the template. I’ve mimicked the way he has done things as a TV presenter and also his business acumen. It’s great that I have worked for E! Africa, which was a dream come true. E! is the next step.”

It was at this point that the IOL team began to connect the dots before realising that famous E! News presenter, Giuliana Rancic will be leaving the popular stable in early 2020 – around the time that Bonang is scheduled to move abroad.

If she does land this gig, that would be the biggest South African role on American television since Trevor Noah moved to fill the position vacated by Jon Stewart on The Daily Show – and we can’t think of anybody who would deserve it more.

The star, who is on a quest to be “great” also spoke to DRUM Magazine where she revealed when exactly she plans on moving abroad when she said,

“I’m moving to the US after the Sun Met next year and the plan is to get there to put the plans in motion,”

Bonang took to Twitter on Thursday, 18 February 2021, to acknowledge a tweet from one of her fans, who praised her for her beauty after seeing her at a local store. The personal interaction between the pair reminded Bonang of the fact that the man did not offer to help her when she was looking for her shoe, instead, he proceeded with his purchase and left. She first thanked him for the compliment, before noting that a true gentleman would have helped her.

Fans questioned why anyone would pass up the opportunity to help Bonang, and began to ambush him on his timeline. One of the comments read, “Wait, he didn’t help you?”, to which she responded, “…Nope. He was with his two mates! They just looked at me, paid for their [things] and left.” The fan in question clarified that the only reason he had not helped her was because she was with another man and felt it would have been rude of him to impose.

Bonang Matheba: There are no short cuts to success

Media personality and businesswoman Bonang Matheba recently took part in the third annual Procter and Gamble (P&G) and UN Women “We See Equal” Gender Equality Summit, which was held virtually for the first time this year.

Under the theme “Unsaid and Undone”, the summit brought together leading voices on gender equality to challenge the current discourse and commit to the actions needed for progress.

The “Being Bonang” star delivered a powerful talk at the summit around ‘The Power of Your Voice’.

Using her experiences, she shared insights around leveraging your voice in the advertising and media space to reach millions of people, challenge rigid gender roles and empower both men and women.

“By achieving my own entrepreneurial goals, I hope to inspire others to further change and shape the industry.

“And by focusing on philanthropy, I hope to pave the way for more people to create opportunities for women,’’ says Queen B.

Below are some of Bonang’s key points she shared at summit.

I would like to see more women equipped with the right tools and knowledge to negotiate deals in the media space.

To see more women become media platform owners, rather than just content producers.

Those privileged to have a significant audience need to use their influence for good. ‘We can now reach millions with a single social media post. Let us be mindful of the narrative we put out there.’

We need diverse opinions to be able to excel in our watchdog role. To be fully representative of the country we live in.

In terms of diversity and gender parity, while we have made good progress. It is wonderful to see women, especially black women, taking ownership of their space.

Beyond being perceived as nurturers to our families – as important as this is – women are increasingly being portrayed as individuals with the capacity and talent to achieve.

At grassroots level, we must ensure all our children receive a good education that instils a strong sense of confidence. We need to actively encourage young women to see our industry as a viable career option.

We also need to introduce transformation programmes in media companies to afford more women the opportunity to be in positions of authority traditionally held by men.

Bonang also emphasised that young African women, especially, need to see that through hard work and education, it is possible to change one’s circumstances.

Her advice to young girls and women is that there are no short cuts.

To succeed you must be prepared to invest the time to equip yourself with the knowledge that enables you to become a master in your craft.

In a tweet, the TV star opened up about how heartbroken she is for being home for a year now. The COVID-19 pandemic forced Bonang to postpone a number of her projects in 2020 after she has planned to make big strides in the Big Apple.

Bonang had plans to relocate to New York City to join a list of SA stars who are taking the industry by storm there. Now it seems Queen B is ready to start working and travel across the world, to do what she is good at.

Bonang told Drum Magazine in late 2019 that in 2020 she was planning to move to the USA after the Sun Met.

“I’m moving to the US after the Sun Met next year and the plan is to get there to put the plans in motion,” Bonang said.
