Amanda Black is reportedly expecting her first child. The singer is keeping the pregnancy news secret, but sources close to her confirmed to Zimoja. At her From My Soul to Yours album launch in Joburg, the star hinted at being pregnant by talking about the new chapter of her life.

“I’m in a new chapter of my life. A very interesting one … It’s been quite a journey getting here. Man, it’s been tough. There’s been a lot of fights, and tears but we are here,” she said. She is definitely pregnant and in the second trimester. Everyone can see the baby bump. It’s impossible to hide at this stage,” the acquaintance says.

“A pregnancy is not really something you can hide for too long. But also, she is not really hiding it, because her tummy is big, she is showing but no one has had the guts to ask her whether it’s just a beer belly or what? Another source talked about the pregnancy and how the journey has been for the singer.

“She was still working on her album in the first trimester, morning sicknesses, the works. So, it was tough for her,” says the friend. It was a stretch getting to the end of her album, even at the listening session, she was tired but she pushed. Her team tucks by her despite the emotions. She is somehow happy and ready to be a mom.

Amanda Black urges South Africans to get used to darkness as any form of protest won’t stop the loadshedding. Mzansi have voiced out via different social media platforms, against the ongoing loadshedding which has exceeded stage 5. The singer said she is also tired of the poor electricity as it’s affected her preserved food and other things.

“Time to learn how to live without electricity, tired of my food spoiling, appliances breaking. All these little “battles” are exhausting. All distractions meant to deplete our energy. National shutdown strikes won’t stop what’s already in motion, on and off paper. Time to detach,” she wrote.

Amanda advises people to avoid panicking and being controlled by the Government. Things are only gonna get worse, we gotta be ready. Not scared, Ready. In the dark they will attack, gotta activate our night vision.

Train yourself to see in the dark. Abantu ezilalini walk for long in the dark, with no torches or nothing. Next we gotta figure out ASap. Water,” she concluded her talks on Twitter.

Amanda Black has taken to social media to drop some pearls of wisdom that she has also started feeling like she may be sounding like a broken record.

This is coming after the star dropped her album, Mnyama as she expresses her frustration.

She said, “Things are definitely changing, but certainly not any better for black humans. Its getting worse. Getting more and more ripped away from ourselves. Who are we? The revolution starts inside, If anyone tells you any different they are misleading you. It begins inside of you.

“The seat at the table IS a seat in the system, to uphold it, to protect it even against yourself and those like you. A seat at the table is a muzzle to keep the rest of “you” at bay to be disillusioned to thinking things are changing.

“Excuse me if I sound like a broken record. #NotSorry Love yourself. Once you SEE YOU. Everything will make sense. Everything will align.”

Vulnerability, honesty, and break-ups are the theme of Amanda Black’s next album, titled Mnyama, she has now found her voice again and says she can never be silenced.

“I can’t wait for people to hear this side of me because it’s gentle, it speaks of a time where I was vulnerable and allowing myself to be honest,” she said.

Following her Album Power from 2019, Amanda says that it represented her going through a battle and now, with this with album, she’s reflecting on it.

“You don’t talk about how you become OK and how you went through it, and this is what this album is about … I ignored my emotional, psychological because I was in the battle … and I neglected me.”

A week before the president announced the 21-day lockdown in March last year, Amanda went through a tough break-up after a three-year romantic relationship and decided to travel back home to contemplate.

“I went through a break-up, and all my plans were in the trash. I kind of just shut down and I remember that there were so many things happening all at once … I went through a mental block for two-to-three months, and I was at home … it made me reconnect with myself.

“Going through the break-up within the lockdown, I was actually seeing what had actually happened, I had time to think about it and ask myself questions. I couldn’t really run away from myself any more, there was nothing to distract me … Even being home, it reminded me of myself.”

The singer admits that having some time away to introspect had her lamenting and interrogating her feelings about her past.

“All the other things like my battle with my previous record label, everything that I never dealt with, even in my personal life while growing up … and I’m still in the process of making those real,” she says.

“I remember I was not able to express to people in the house that I don’t feel like getting up from bed, and not being able to give that a name, I just went through this darkness that I couldn’t explain.”

Now that she has found her voice again, Amanda says she’s not bothered by Twitter critics saying she should refrain from engaging in politics and stick to making music.

“I feel that with this journey and just relating to the album … I felt an awakening, I think I reminded myself of who I am … ever since I started waking up understanding my blackness and my place in the world … It started then opening my voice again. It shows on social media now.

“I’ve realised my need to talk, I’ve realised my power to talk. I only attributed it to the music for a while and allowed people to tell me that it’s only in the music. Now, as I am unfolding, I’m finding my voice to speak for people who can’t speak for themselves, to speak out about things that are affecting me. I am black and I am a citizen in SA, that on its own is something to speak out on … It’s because right now I have found me again, I found my voice again and I am here to use it,” she concluded.
