AKA is currently taking a little break from social media ahead of the release of what is meant to be the EP that save South African hip-hop, “Bhovamania.” But it seems that while the man of the Forbes clan might be taking it easy, the women of the Forbes clan are doing anything but resting.

This past weekend, Keirnan “AKA” Forbes’ mother; Lynn Frobes has been busier than ever. The celebrity grandmother to her granddaughter, Kairo Forbes, was on full granny and manager form. First, it was taking Kairo to her first horse riding lesson. This is part of the endorsement between the Forbes brand and Waterfall Equestrian.

Lynn in the images she shared made it clear that age is nothing but a number as she served looks while posing with the horses. She did manage to throw in one image of baby Kairo riding the horse at the end, because ultimately it was about the daughter of AKA and DJ Zinhle, and not so much about our favourite glammy. In the same vein, Lynn concluded her post on their visit with the caption; “Kairo can’t wait to start her pony riding lessons with Tatum, and I can’t wait to spend more time with the horses.”

The granny-and-daughter duo continued their fan throughout the week. One of their activities from this past weekend was the duos participation on Halloween celebration. Lynn’s last story is showcasing Kairo not giving her break due to the little one still riding her sugar rush. It seems that glammy had a long night ahead of her with Kairo showing no signs of going to sleep any time soon.

Another activity they did together was the Ithemba walk-a-thon. The walk-a-thon comes as the South African wraps up Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is commemorated every year in the month of October.

Explaining the purpose of the campaign, Lynn writes that, “I have walked 8km for Breast Cancer awareness! Breast cancer is real and can affect anyone including men and young people. Know your facts, do regular examinations for early detection and let’s fight breast cancer together!”

The post went on to encourage that everyone join the fight against cancer and to bring awareness. In detailing the difference in experience of the walk this, Lynn went on to state that; “For many years but this year was very special as it was a virtual walk. Thank you to everyone who made the effort.”

AKA still angry about the failed Reebok deal

AKA still angry about the failed Reebok deal

AKA has celebrated the 1 year anniversary of his very own signature sneaker that he collaborated with Reebok. The moment was however bitter-sweet as he was reminded about the failed deal which was going to see him 7-figure richer but instead he did not even get a cent.

Even though he is proud of his sneaker turning a year old, AKA could not hide his anger at how Reebok two-timed him. Last year he spoke about how they cancelled his deal out of the blue because they wanted to take a different direction.

“At the end of last year they told me they wouldn’t be renewing my contract because “the brand” wasn’t about the Reebok “classic” direction anymore … they were now geared towards selling gym clothes to women predominantly,” he wrote.

All of this happened after the rapper had jetted off to the states to meet up with the bosses and sign the contract.

AKA revealed that he does not want to take them to court because karma is doing all the work for him. According to him, Reebok is not doing so well and he believes that if they let him continue with their signed contract and paid the royalties to him, people would still be supporting their company.

“When they write these articles they use the picture of MY sneaker. MY design. Not none of that bullshit running, CrossFit shit they pushing.”

Responding to a fan who advised him to take them to court because they are making money from the hard work he responded by saying, “I’m not going to court for sh*t. I just [want] everyone to know that their brand is wack and nobody f**ks with it any more. Thanks.”

After reading about the possibility of the sneaker company being sold by Adidas because it suffered immensely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AKA found it rather interesting and he weighed in.

“Interesting. It’s important to remember that the companies you work for, while you might be in a position of influence, you ultimately have a boss, and they have a boss and they also have a boss. Nobody is my boss tho, so I do as I please. Cheers.”

He also spoke about how his sneaker could have helped the brand survive getting the chop. “Shame. They should have let me design my own range and give me royalties. Maybe they wouldn’t be in the sh***er,” AKA tweeted.

“The series is an ultimate glance into the lives of the Mzansi’s most intriguing and South African personalities as they are hosted by the award winning rapper AKA. “He is well-known for making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

“Love him or hate him, AKA is a powerhouse of talent and the voice of the youth. In addition to being Mzansi’s most talked about personality, AKA also enjoys winding down to some good food and great company. “It is this love for all things grilled that gave birth to “The Braai Show with AKA”.

“What better way to get to know some of the country’s most influential and controversial characters than by sharing some steak and chops with them?”, read the statement. In June, a minute long teaser video was streamed online.

We got to see some of South Africa’s popular entertainers including DJ Tira, Moozlie and Sbudaroc chatting to AKA.

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula also features in the show.

Viewers can prepare for AKA to have candid conversations with industry giants while preparing food over the braai in the garden or in the kitchen.

AKA’s BHOVAMANIA Merch Sells Out

Kiernan “AKA” Forbes is starting to mark that BHOVAMANIA season is about to start. And it is becoming clear that despite him releasing just an EP, it is about to go down.

The rapper marked Friday as the beginning of the BHOVAMANIA season with the release of the still trending song, “Casino,” featuring Sho madjozi and Flame. The song was one of the things that proved that AKA is a perfectionist. In explaining the creation of the song, one detail he revealed was the extent he went too; to make sure the song is a smash.
AKA’s BHOVAMANIA Merch Sells Out
n a thread with his fans, AKA detailed how he specifically wanted Costa Titch to lace an adlib for the new song. AKA could have done the adlib himself, but he specifically wanted Costa to do the adlib. The song teased that the BHOVAMMANIA is going to be a smash considering that even our resident authority, not Nota, but Sizwe Dhlomo gave the song the thumbs up.

Another integral part of his BHOVAMANIA season is the merchandise line. For weeks, AKA has been teasing the release of his merchandise line. The line is inspired by AKA’s most popular performance looks from the last year into this year. AKA announced that the BHOVAMANIA merchandise’s website was open for pre-order sales and the moment it went live it was matter of hours until it was sold out.

Other members of the Megacy were left choosing that was too late in clicking the buy button, ended up having to settle for pieces that they might have not wanted. Things seemed to have gotten so bad that the Megacy started fighting over the 2XLs and XLs, despite probably being small or medium. Fans just wanted a piece so much that they would not risk the chance of never having BHOVAMANIA piece.

Moreover, it seems that the most popular item from the range is the t-shirt. The t-shirt has the signature BHOVAMANIA logo, along with the now-iconic F*cking Relax iconography at the back. The t-shirt goes for R400.00, but that did not stop fans from still going in on the t-shirt.

However, we have it on good authority that the release was the first run. This means that there will be a second run of the popular merchandise range, and fans of the brand and EL Pudi will be able to get a piece that they really wanted.

Supa Mega is back! After waiting so long, Megacy can finally rest knowing that AKA has finally dropped Bhovamania. The rapper has been teasing about dropping the project for a while now and it is finally here

For the longest time, AKA inundated requests from his fans, begging and pleading for him to finally release his album. After announcing his tracklist, demanding that his song, Iron Duke was added to his album, Bhovamania. Sometime in September, the rapper/producer finally gave in.

“Ok. After careless consideration … Iron Duke is gonna make it. I’m working on it right now. The cries of The Megacy cannot be ignored.”

Fans immediately lost their minds in the comments section and rejoiced at the fact that had adhered to their requests. Tshego Kgetsi replied with…

“I’m in tears right now. Thank You so much for hearing us King. It means a lot to The Megacy.”

In a tweet back in September, AKA said the project was complete and he just needed a release date

“The project is complete. Mixed. Mastered. Everything. All that I need now is our release date,”

With a tracklist of 13 songs on Bhovamania the songs are; and intro, Casino, Heavy Drank, Python, My Heart, Finesse, Holy Water, Energy, Monuments, African Man, Startin’ Now and AKA. One song in particular that grabbed the attention of the public was Mufasa, which is suspected to reference his arch-enemy, Cassper Nyovest. AKA and Cassper have been beefing for the longest time and at some point were even planning a boxing match, with contracts and everything but it is yet to materialise. Cassper even told Somizi that he would never work with AKA, but he wants to knock him out.

“Nah that is never gonna happen, when it comes to AKA I know him, he was my friend me and him could never be buddies and if I cant gel with you from that level then I can’t make music with you, I see myself getting in the ring and knocking him out.”

AKA shared visuals of himself in the studio with Sjava and Naak Music, however, he did not elaborate on whether they would be featured in his album. Seeing as though his tracklist is complete, fans questioned him on where these musicians fitted in and assumed that there would be more music to come, aside from Bhovamania.

It seems that they weren’t going to be featured, after all, they aren’t on the album, which is available for pre-orders.

“Now I’m back to disappoint the people I left in the game,” iFani to AKA

iFani is someone who does not shy away from saying his mind most especially when it hurts him so much. However, the rapper is back to drag out AKA which looks like the beef is not going to end anytime soon. Few weeks ago, iFani dragged out AKA in a tweet which reads; “Let me go tell AKA, I’m back from the DEAD”.

“Now I’m back to disappoint the people I left in the game,” iFani to AKA

This time the rapper said he is back to disappoint him again. “When I left the game I disappointed people…my people. Now I’m back To disappoint the people I left In the game. Your people…No, I’m lying, ONE people: Super Mega,” he tweeted.

Earlier, he collaborated with July on the song named after the beauty influencer, Mihlali Ndamase. He sat down with Slikour and discussed how his decision to quit rap had negatively affected him and those around him. Five years ago, the rapper stopped making music and he regrets his decision.

iFani revealed that many were disappointed at him after the announcement he made. “I have disappointed a lot of people, my entire family is disappointed in me. I have disappointed my fans, I have disappointed my baby mommas, I have two now, they don’t want to see me. And the main thing they talk about is ‘why aren’t you working? Why are you chilling at home? There I am chilling at home, doing nothing.

He said: “For that disappointment, I want to say I am sorry. My career was supposed to blossom. Take Xhosa to overseas, I had dreams but all of a sudden I said No.

AKA has decided to compliment the good work of Riky Rick. This is coming after Riky Rick recently dropped a new single titled, Ungazinchi and it has become one of the most talked-about and listened to song. The song instantly became a favourite to many people including AKA who expressed how fascinated he is by Rick’s flow, catchphrases and rhyme.

Reacting to this, AKA questioned Riky saying: “How do you come up with all these crazy catchphrases/hooks bro? @rikyrickworld … hectic. I thought you loved me. Smh.” AKA holds nothing back at reminding Riky Rick of how much of a talented musician he is. When a fan compares Riky’s musical talent to Anatii’s, AKA chose Riky as the best.

AKA Pokes Fun At Riky Rick And Cassper

AKA Pokes Fun At Riky Rick And Cassper
AKA has once again poked fun at the Cassper Nyovest and Riky Rick fall out by reigniting the whole debacle surrounding Cassper’s ‘To Who It May Concern’, from his fifth studio album ‘Any Minute Now’. Cassper and Riky’s friendship was amongst the most celebrated in the music industry but all came crashing down to the point where Cassper laid all his feelings on his song.

Rapper AKA asking him a few questions about the album. One follower asked did he have a good listen to the album, and he responded by saying he does not listen to SA rapper’s albums because he does not want to know what they are doing or what they sound like.

After confessing that his favourite song is To Whom It May Concern, AKA decided to poke fun again and this time around directed his message at Riky.

“How do you come up with all these crazy catchphrases/hooks bro? @rikyrickworld … hectic. I thought you loved me. Smh,” tweeted AKA. He continued by adding, “As a Coloured person I read/say/sing it as … u-ngang-gnish-ung-Ngang-Nish. Is that close enough?”

However he has heard snippets of the album and was pretty impressed, he said: “…it doesn’t sound too bad.”

A follower said, “I see “I thought you loved me” is your favourite line @akaworldwide. Mine is “I don’t know my fate, but I know my faith.” You and I love Cass.” AKA respoded by saying, “to be quite honest … I’ve never listened to any of his albums. Like not even one.”

One tweet that caught people’s attention was his humorous response when asked what is his favourite song. He replied with “I thought you loved me” which was a direct dig at the ‘beef’ between Riky Rick and Cassper Nyovest.

After fans heard his ‘To Whom It May Concern’ single, they advised Riky to reach out to Cassper as they thought he is hurting. Riky then responded by saying “EISH, funny thing we’ve spoken privately so dunno where that “explanation” of what happened came from. I’ll keep reaching out to him, but I’m also getting tired of my name coming up when I relaxing nicely minding my business. It’s like yall want me to put the full story on wax.”

Things escalated with Riky poking fun at Cass shouting ‘I thought you loved me’ at the end of the song. Cassper has not yet responded to Riky’s rant publicly.
