Taking to Instagram Live, Nomsa Buthelezi revealed that she had taken a hiatus from social media over the festive season due to the effect trolls had on her life.

“Social media is toxic, it’s cold…Misery loves company. People on social media are toxic”, she said.

Speaking of the viral video in which Patrick Shai challenged Cassper Nyovest to a boxing match, Nomsa said: “When I saw it, I laughed. He was not serious. He cannot fight that person. He’s old”.

She also defended his language as the actor taking over a “TV script”.

The former Our Perfect Wedding host claims she was infuriated by social media comments about Patrick Shai after the video went viral.

She said: “Patrick Shai was insulted by people who wanted to trend because they wanted likes. The coldest people with no respect. He’s gone, congratulations. He’s dead now.

“He may have been dealing with stuff in his life, but you pressed the go button. You pressed the push. That’s how cold South Africa has become.

“I know we are going through a lot, especially with lockdown. But it does not give you the right to hurt others…You don’t even have the decency of showing remorse”.

She also promised guilty social media users that “karma” was coming their way.

She added: “I hope it’s going to haunt them and their generation. If it does not come for you in this lifetime, it will come for your children in the next”.

It wasn’t just Nomsa Buthelezi who laid it on thick for social media users, Hlomla Dandala also had strong words for trolls.

In a video which went viral after Patrick Shai’s death, Hlomla can be heard saying: “I just found out about Patrick Shai. All those people who came for him for likes; I hope you’re happy now”.

He added in the comment section: “For those who wanted Patrick Shai cancelled. You wanted it. You got it. For a joke. For a f***ing joke, cancel culture killed him.

“Please note that while he was an embarrassment (deserving of cancellation and death) to you, he was a mentor and a father figure to many of us. But well done. I hope you are proud of yourselves”.

Actress Nomsa Buthelezi opened up about the tragic day when her family was attacked. Nomsa said she was with her wife and daughter on the day of the attack.

On her Instagram video captioned: “My sexuality is not contagious. You forgot Me all you see now it’s A LESBIANS” Nomsa said she was attacked because of her s.e.xuality.

She said there was a car blocking the road, so they asked other guys who were there to tell them who is the driver so that they can ask the driver to move the car.

“…and then the other guy said to my wife “who is the man, who is the wife” and we were like no those comments are not necessary, we just want the owner of the car to come and move the car …and then yah it all happened out of the blue there was a fight

“My daughter coming out of the car screaming “why are punching my mother” guns were out now, guns were blazing everywhere for us asking them to move the car so that we don’t scratch their car and then they had comments about our sexuality who is the man who is the what?”

Nomsa said she wishes that she never came out, she said she lost on other jobs because of her sexuality.

I wish I did not come out, I wish I kept it the way it was you know. I regret it sometimes only if I never spoke about it or told anyone about it maybe I would be still treated the way I was treated before…

“If only I didn’t talk about my s.e.xuality I would still have my friends I’d still have my other jobs you know because I lost other jobs because of my s.e.xuality and every day I always calm myself down and say everything that’s happened to me maybe I was supposed to be on the chopping block.”

A woman in South Africa today must not come out, they must keep in the closet because it is not safe. Once you say I am a lesbian woman things change, even when you go back to the office on Monday you are not going to be seen like Friday.

“My dear sister don’t come out of the closet, stay there close it with a chain or whatever! Because the minute you come out of that closet is going to be the death of you. As long as you living in this country don’t come out,” said Nomsa on the video.

Actress Nomsa Buthelezi-Shezi has revealed that the bullying and untimely death of pupil Lufuno Mavhungu has opened up her old wounds

Lufuno was bullied by another pupil on Monday and then later died by suicide after taking an overdose of tablets.

She was in Grade 10

In a video clip currently circulating on social media, a pupil can be seen repeatedly slapping Lufuno across the face. The clip caused an outrage, with people calling for justice for Lufuno.

In a heartfelt message, Nomsa said that she felt the slaps Lufuno suffered.

Nomsa was bullied by fellow pupils during her schooling days, she explained that fellow pupils would constantly insult and humiliate her.

“I have a lump on my throat. I’m literally feeling sick. I want to be like a snake when it’s shedding off its skin. How could a human being be this cruel? How could a human being be this evil? Here I am sinking back to this hard cold place of sadness. The slaps Lufuno suffered, I felt on my cheeks. I felt the cut from the knife that stabbed Lulu. Why? God, please show your face! Maybe this hate will also go away. Now a family has to live without their daughter! Lulu’s family has to bury their child in pieces! Cry our beloved country. Khalani Mzansi kuse kude phambili. #JucticeForLufuno #JusticeForLulu,” she wrote.
