Dineo Ranaka production company releases first ever project Mzali Wam

Dineo Ranaka will be introducing Mzali Wam, the first TV drama series she has produced, for Mzansi Magic.

Dineo, the reality TV star and Metro FM DJ, produced the show through her production company, Brains At Work Media Productions.

She created Mzali Wam with screenwriter, Siphosethu Tshapu.

The Mzansi Magic show premieres on 4 January. It features former Scandal! actress, Masasa Mbangeni, eHostela actress, Lungelo Mpangase, former Generations actor, Dumisani Mbebe and Nolwazi Shange is the main character.

Dineo told Daily Sun the show has been eight years in the making.

“After having a baby girl, I started seeing the world through a darker lens, thinking about things like human trafficking,” she said.

“I started doing research and was amazed at how simple it is for human beings to be trafficked. I found out it’s one of the industries that contributes massively to the world’s economy.

Dineo came into contact with Sipho and they started working together.

Brains At Work Media Productions is the company behind Dineo’s Diary and The Ranakas.

“Drama is intellectually moving. It requires more layers to produce than a reality show,” she said.

“I appreciate its complexity and the nature of what it is.

“Coming up with the idea doesn’t mean you’re responsible for executing it.

“There are many great contributors that played various roles in Mzali Wam. From the cast to the crew, they made it what it is. Also, the commissioning editors from Mzansi Magic, who didn’t turn a blind eye. I’m grateful to them.”

She said Mzansi can expect more drama series from her.

Her reality show The Ranakas will be returning to the small screen on 7 January.

Mohale’s hubby Somizi under fire – Cheating scandal takes new twist

Media personality, Somizi Mhlongo, Barleader TV, and Multichoice were served a summons for Dinner With Somizi, on Wednesday.

This follows months after Hastings Moeng accused Somizi and Legend Manqele, who owns Barleader TV, of stealing the idea of ‘Dinner With Somizi’ from him.

Dinner With Somizi is a cooking show that Somizi hosted on 1Magic. The show saw him cooking for Mzansi celebs at his home.

Hastings claimed that he sent the idea of the show to both Somizi and Legend in 2014 and 2016, via email.

Former Radio 702 presenter, Eusebius McKaiser who broke the story back in September, shared the papers that they were served with on Wednesday, on Twitter.

According to Eusebius, Hastings wants compensation from Somizi and the two entities.

He wrote: “Somizi Mhlongo, Barleader TV & Multichoice have had summons served TODAY on behalf of Hastings Moeng seeking “reasonable compensation” plus “15% interest” as the alleged originator of the concept Dinner With Somizi. Moeng wants the court to declare his verbal contract…”

“… as valid & binding (supported by email evidence that exists); wants the court to declare the concept underpinning Somizi’s show as Moeng’s brainchild & wants the court to direct “reasonable compensation” to be given to Moeng plus rights to contract future seasons etc,” he continued.

Lamar Odom accuses ex-girlfriend of holding social media accounts hostage

Lamar Odom is accusing his ex-girlfriend of holding his social media accounts “hostage”. The former basketball player claimed on Wednesday (30.12.20) that Sabrina Parr is keeping him from being able to use his official accounts on both Instagram and Twitter.

He posted a statement: “What’s up good people. I’ve been working hard to build my brand and a new team. Unfortunately, my social media platforms are being held hostage by my ex and we are working hard to recover my passwords for IG and Twitter – if any of y’all know someone who can get it reset for me hit my brand managers DM ASAP @savvygirlconsulting (sic)”
And Sabrina admitted the allegations were “extremely disappointing”.

She fired back: “I find these accusations from Lamar & whoever he’s working with extremely disappointing. We are no longer together and haven’t been for a while. I’ve chosen to move in silence about the situation & I suggest you do the same.

“We both know the truth and I assure you no truth is being told on their end. Now if you excuse me, I’m going to continue moving on in peace & silence.”

Lamar then insisted it was “over” with Sabrina, despite claims of a reunion.

He then replied: “No love lost but it’s over. AllI ask is that you release my Passport and my Passwords. That’s it. You’ve wronged me in so many ways and I was willing to walk away quietly but I see you want a show. I gave you a global platform … All the best.

Somizi under fire for stealing – Cheating scandal takes new twist

The drama and battle over Somizi Mhlongo’s show, ‘Dinner With Somizi’ continues after summons were served on behalf of Hastings Moeng seeking “reasonable compensation” plus “15% interest” as the alleged originator of the concept of the show.

Somizi Mhlongo, Barleader TV and Multichoice have had summons served on them.

It is believed that Moeng wants the court to declare his verbal contract as valid and binding (supported by email evidence that it exists) and wants the court to declare the concept underpinning Somizi’s show as Moeng’s brainchild as well as wanting the court to direct “reasonable compensation” to be given to Moeng as well as rights to contract future seasons.

Earlier this year, Somizi said that no one owns the rights to his name.

In September, Somizi said that Hastings approached him verbally in 2013 about a cooking show, but he declined at the time.

He further said that it was only later, when he fell in love with cooking, that he thought about starting his own YouTube channel, and again when Nkululeko “Legend” Manqele approached him about the show.

“I did not steal anybody’s concept and I will never again claim I came up with an original concept. I was inspired by a whole lot of shows,” Somizi said.
