It’s wedding bells for Pearl Thusi; to marry wealthy businessman Bonett

Actress and model Pearl Thusi is melting in the warm hands of businessman Shaun Keith Alfred Bonett. The beautiful thespian is also planning to tie the knot and start a family with him Bonett.

Thusi revealed that she is dating Bonett in papers she filed in the Joburg High Court last month when applying for a court order to adopt the daughter of her recovering drug addict relative from Kwazulu-Natal.

In court papers, which we have seen, Thusi revealed Bonett’s identity and her relationship with him as one of the motivating factors to persuade the court to grant her custody.

“I have been resident at my … since December 2014. I reside with my 13-year-old daughter who has happily welcomed … and sees her as her younger sister. I am in a stable relationship with a loving, caring and honest man, Shaun Keith Alfred Bonett, who owns a global conglomerate of business and philanthropic foundations, and whom I am planning to marry. He too has happily accepted … as his own.”

The former Live Amp presenter’s revelation that she is dating Bonett put paid to long-lingering questions about who she’s seeing after her break up with sports guru Robert Marawa about five years ago.

Early this year, the Queen Sono star left her fans guessing who her significant other is after taking to social media posting a picture with the caption “umjolo wami”. The photograph depicted her and a man whose face she deliberately cropped out.

“There’s nothing quite like finding someone you genuinely love and that person feels just the same about you.”

The publication can reveal that the man Pearl Thusi kept an enigma is Bonett, with whom she is planning to walk down the aisle.

According to his profile, Bonett is the founder of Precision Group and serves as its CEO and managing director. The company has business interests in South Africa.

He also acts as a director and strategic adviser of various entities in which Precision has interests in, including as chairperson of Litigation Lending Services and Prezzee, Skyfii and Lenders Direct.

Philanthropy is also a key part of his activities and he acts as deputy chairperson of Life Education Australia, is a director of the Princes Trust, a director of the Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of Australia, and founder of his own charity organization.

After SA recently moved from lockdown alert level 4 to level 3, and many of our leisurely activities are again available to enjoy, a well-deserved rest was in store for Ayanda.

In snaps and videos, the star showed off her trip to Thornybush Game Reserve in Kruger National Park.

The star took in views of the Mzansi savannas while sipping on the finest, and even caught a snap with a member of the Big Five who was pretty keen to meet Ayanda (probably a fan).

“A bush photo dump,” the star captioned the post.

Getting that much-needed rest and recreation, Ayanda was looking as fab as ever, even if she was bundu bashing and not in front of the camera.

How and where Somizi and Mohale met

How and where Somizi and Mohale met

THE relationship of media personalities Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung has been scrutinised from the very moment they decided to make it public.

The pair, which got married in a multi-million-rand wedding which was aired on streaming service Showmax, has seen it all, from being told Mohale is to young for Somizi to Mohale being accused of being after Somizi’s estate.

Here’s a timeline of how the Mzansi much-loved fairytale, which ended in a divorce and abuse allegations, began:

  1. How They Met

According to Idols SA judge Somizi and Rockville star Mohale, they met in 2017 at Somizi’s book signing after he released his best-selling memoir Dominoes: Unbreakable Spirit.

Recalling their first encounter last year, Somizi said he knew from the moment when he laid eyes on him that he was the one.

“You were number 13 in the line and by the time I signed your book, I knew I’d wanna be with you for a lifetime. Weird, I know but I knew,” he said.

How and where Somizi and Mohale met

  1. Started Dating

After months of staying out of the spotlight, the pair officially announced their relationship at the Sun Met in 2018. Without wasting time, two months later they announced their engagement. This caused a stir and people accused the youngster Mohale of being after Somizi’s money, but Somizi who was deep in love slammed the claims.

“I’ve been quiet for way too long about how I feel about people who are not even our friends and family already assuming and dictating how my fiancé should love me and should react to certain things. All of you saying such; you don’t sleep next to me. You don’t wake up next to me. You don’t know how moody and cranky I become. You have never smelled my morning breath. Have you ever wondered why I was attracted to him in the first place.

“Have you ever thought how I would never date my duplicate. How we are completely different people and personalities. How his calm demeanour turns me on.”

He said he was older and wise enough to know when he was not truly loved.

How and where Somizi and Mohale met

  1. The Wedding

The couple tied the knot in a lavish traditional wedding in September 2019 which was followed by a lavish white wedding in January 2020.

Somhale, as they were affectionately known, sold the rights to their wedding ceremonies to Showmax which was broadcasted in a four-part wedding special titled: Somizi & Mohale: The Union. They had plans for a third wedding in Italy but it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But soon after their highly televised multi-million-rand wedding, rumours of cheating emerged.

According to a local publication, Mohale packed his bags and moved out of their marital home and discarded Somizi’s surname on his social media accounts. But Somizi squashed the rumours and told True Love magazine they had never split.

  1. The Split

Although they had denied the divorce rumours, the love dedications and making public appearances together dried up and that raised the eyebrows of the fans who had been following the relationship.

It was only confirmed recently that Somhale had called it quits when a recording of Mohale, apparently with producers of Living the Dream with Somizi, was leaked.

In the recording Mohale can be heard speaking about the alleged abuse he had suffered at the hands of his estranged husband Somizi as well as how Somgaga had allegedly blocked opportunities for him to be independent.

  1. The Acceptance

After months of denying they were headed for splitsvile, Somizi revealed in a lengthy statement that he and Mohale were in the process of being divorced.

“In as far as the divorce itself is concerned, my only aim is to have it finalised fairly and reasonably,” he said.

He also denied being abusive towards Mohale, but agreed their relationship had its ups and downs.

“But I have never been physically or knowingly emotionally abusive towards my estranged husband. I vehemently deny the allegations of criminal acts towards him and would like to clear my name of that defamation.”

Somizi said they had one altercation where he had allegedly defended himself from Mohale.

“What I am going to state, however, is that we had one altercation in which I had to defend myself and both of us were physically hurt by the other. I am at this stage not at liberty to dive deeper into the details but can state that he is not a victim in this situation,” read part of the statement.

Thuso Mbedu is over hyped – Ntsiki Mazwai fires shots at the actress as she goes with Amanda Black

Mzansi’s Ntsiki Mazwai has come for South Africa’s darling on Twitter and people are dragging her all the way to the bins.

Ntsiki took to Twitter this morning to express what a lot of people did not take kindly to.

She said, “Guys I have a confession to make…Amanda Black gives me goosebumps…but Thuso Mbedu doesn’t AT ALL. AT ALL. I think she is over hyped only cos she is in America. I apologize to all those I offend”

A number of people seemed to be sharing Ntsiki’s sentiments but some felt like Ntsiki was dragging Thuso down which is unwelcome seeing that it is women’s month. These were some of the reactions:

“Shouldve stopped at Goosebumps Aus Ntsiki…this are kind of the thing that affect one’s self esteem…let’s think before we tweet. There’s a reason why she’s in America…Even the fact that this post is from a woman to a woman…we can do better”

“Ausi Ntsiki, Thuso Mbedu is young and she can use your support as a big sister. Ladies odds are against you, please support each other”

“I think kulungile eOverhyped. The hype comes from us being proud. We did it for Theron and Noah, let’s keep the same energy. Between all of our exports I think she reps the hood more. She doesn’t have to mention any hood for us to make the connection. She is us and she’s dope”

“I don’t think many are hearing you. You are not referring to just talent (singing or acting) but more of what each brand stands for. From your previous tweets, you have always been about what people stand for. And anyway, it is purely your preference and not a contest”

“I loved Thuso up until that interview, where she sounded fake, I still love some of her but not as much. I didn’t care much abt Amanda until the recent events in SA, She came out and spoke truth! I respect and love her from here on!”

“You really amuse yourself sheem Nontsikelelo. Bese uthi we should be kind to you when you can’t be kind to others. Thuso is not overhyped, she worked hard for all her roles. Xabethihlamba siyanqanda kuba we believe uyahlamba. Check your heart boo, bitter vibes”

“Amanda gives me goosebumps too, Bold, talented, super voice, amazing writer.,but what makes Thuso more potent is that she on a global stage and talented. As far as I remember you have always had issues with light skin privilege. Check her performance on isithunzi”

“Haii Queen its women ‘s month let’s celebrate all women, I understand why you relate more with Amanda but that should not take away what Thuso is.She is a brilliant actress and her being in America comes with her profession”

“Stop bullying abanye abantwana, we don’t engage to things by how others want us to be. #thusombedu you’re the best, #AmandaBlack you’re the best”

“Thuso Mbedu liqanda she was gonna be successful no matter what, I mean she studied at New York Film School before she landed roles in SA. Uyayazi ibhotolo? Amanda uyazithetha ke yena iingxaki zethu, she relates to imeko”

Ntsiki said that she is teaching people to stand up for what they believe in, “I hope I am training you guys to have differing opinions proudly…The sheep mentality thing is not ok”

Thuso Mbedu and Amanda Black are both amazing creatives and they do so well in their respective paths. Even though Amanda is currently speaking on the societal issues affecting South Africa, that does not mean Thuso should be as woke. We should respect that we are all not strong in one thing and that is okay.

DRAMA: Family of 14-year-old girl who died giving birth offers husband her 9-year-old sister as replacement

Some relatives of the late 14-year-old-girl who died while giving birth at a shrine have been appealing for justice following reports that the deceased’s husband wants another wife from the same family according to their custom in Zimbabwe where the incident reportedly took place.

One of the family members Alice Mabika said they are living in fear of exposing a death they said could have been avoided had the deceased been rushed to a hospital.

“What is now worrying are reports that the husband is expecting to be given the deceased’s 9-year-old sister in marriage. He was yet to pay lobola for the deceased and the family wanted to meet us to pay something on the burial day and we turned down their request. How could we receive lobola on the day they tormented us by denying us access to the burial?

“It is our prayer that justice prevails given the circumstances in which we lost our daughter. We also want to dismiss a photograph of a young pregnant woman being circulated online purported to be of the late Memory Machaya.

“The pictures published by H-Metro are the correct ones,” said Mabika.

Manicaland province police spokesperson Inspector Luxson Chananda said the death of the 14-year-old Memory Machaya was not reported.

“Police are investigating the case of a 14-year-old woman said to have died while giving birth at a shrine in Bocha. Preliminary investigations so far have shown that the death was never reported to any of the police stations,” said Insp Chananda.

The deceased’s aunt Angeline Machaya, an ardent follower of Johanne Marange told H-Metro that the baby is in good condition and receiving enough milk.

“The baby is well and getting enough milk, donated by family members,” said Machaya.

“We do not want donations for now but if the need should arise we will inform you, thank you for the concern,” she said.

The late Memory Machaya was married to Evans Momberume.

Zimbabwe Gender Commission, Commissioner Sibongile Mawuye, and Shamwari Yemwanasikana spokesperson Ekenia Chifamba said churches are supposed to be safe havens for children and not violate their right to health care which resulted in the death at the Johane Marange church.

“The voice of church leaders needs to be heard in these crucial times when the girl child is being abused in the hands of church leaders. It is time that as a nation we regulate the operations of the cults that disguise themselves as churches whilst abusing women and girls. This is no longer the time to be silenced by these men of cloth who have turned to be wolves in sheep’s clothing.

“Communities should take a stand- point in ensuring that our communities are safe and we are not complacent in responding to issues of child abuse. Therefore, we demand justice for the deceased who died in the hands of a trusted man of cloth,” said Chifamba.

Mzansi power couple ends in tears: Mohale divorcing Somizi

Mohale Motaung released a statement on Saturday, stating he is in the process of divorcing his estranged husband and Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo.

Mohale’s statement reads, “In response to the news circulating pertaining to the material details about issues within my marriage as well as the recent statement by my estranged husband, I wish to confirm that we are indeed in the process of o divorce.

I wish to make it clear that it has never been my intention to have the private details of my marriage exposed in the public nor will it ever be my intention to cause disrepute to image. While I have maintained my silence in the hopes of an amicable dissolution of our marriage, recent developments compel me to make the following assertions.

I. The conversations heard in the audio were privileged as they were with one of the producers of Living The Dream With Somizi. I trusted the person with whom I was engaging and did not divulge such details for any material gain. In these conversations I was laying case to reason why I would not want the details of our divorce to be used in the upcoming season of the reality show as this would not reflect the complete truth and furthermore did not want the details thereof to be used for financial gain.

  1. Myself and the person in question had o personal relationship that was been built over years and I felt secure relaying my experience to him having been assured that it was privileged. I never imagined that my turmoil would be exploited in this manner. Since the release of the conversations I find myself stripped of my agency and the right, I had previously reserved to tell my story. When I was ready.

  2. I did in fact experience abuse at the hands of my estranged husband both physical and psychological. It is not my wish to seesaw my experience against his as he only has his conscience to reckon with.

I have been blessed to have the support of family and friends and more especially from members of the public while Igo through this trying time in my life.

To this end, I reserve my right to privacy and not comment further beyond the clarity provided herein.

I wish to quietly conclude the dissolution of my marriage which is now being handled legally and further reserve my right to comment. My focus right now is on my livelihood.”

Real reason why Shona Ferguson’s death feels so personal

Real reason why Shona Ferguson’s death feels so personal

Real reason why Shona Ferguson’s death feels so personal

As the Fergusons laid to rest their beloved patriarch Shona Ferguson this week, those he touched mostly want him to be remembered for lasting impact he will have on the TV and film industry.

The 47-year-old filmmaker’s untimely passing on 31 July due to Covid-19 complications is still being felt in many sectors of society.

Connie Ferguson said the biggest legacy her husband would leave would be Ferguson Films, which they created in 2010. The film and TV production company helped shaped and grow what local content is today.

“Ferguson Films is his legacy, and it will continue to grow stronger,” she said during his memorial. Shona’s love for his family was also mentioned frequently, with people saying they aspired to be like him because of how much love he gave them.

His brother, Dominque, said: “You are the blueprint, a giant.”

Shona’s passion for creating new series and expanding South Africa’s productions was likened to what American Tyler Perry did for black films in Hollywood. From Rockville, The Queen, The Herd, and Kings of Joburg – all award-winning shows that have started many careers and brought in new faces.

But fans want Shona to be remembered for who he is.

Rockville actor Mabalane said whilst filming the last season of the show she told Shona that “he wears God so well”.

The biggest lesson she learnt from the Fergusons was that it was never about them as actors.

“The industry, the fame, the platform, was never about us, it is what God does in and through us… To look at Mr Sho’s life, look at what the Lord has done. He opened up himself to be used by God, to me that is power.”

Connie said during the funeral: “My husband loved hard and most importantly loved the Lord hard, unashamedly.”

The actress says she was lucky to experience a “once in a lifetime” kind of love with Shona. She says she has to find it in herself to continue.

“Our love does not die, you continue on in my heart, in my children’s heart. Thank you, Shonie for everything.”
