What happened to Miss South Africa Teen 2006 winner Zizo Beda?

Zizo Tshwete went from winning Miss South Africa Teen at 17 years in 2006 to cementing her career as TV and radio presenter. Where is she now? The multi-talented model and presenter was born in Idutywa village, Transkei in the Eastern Cape. She is formally known as Zizo Beda before her marriage to media personality and politician Mayihlome Tshwete whom she wedded in 2015. According to Afternoon Express, she had seen herself in the journalism field before her career in entertainment took off after winning Miss SA Teen.

Since then, she co-hosted SABC 1’s magazine show, Selimathunzi alongside Lunga Shabalala before moving on to co-host the 11th Annual Metro FM Music Awards, alongside Metro FM radio DJ, Tbo Touch. Over the years, her marriage has stolen the limelight and for the wrong reasons. On several occasions, her marriage was reported as heading down the drain, however, she still has not changed her last name so it is unclear whether she finally filed for divorce or not.

In 2021, Sunday World reported that her marriage had crumbed and Mayihlome had allegedly moved out of their Fourways home.

Former Home Affairs Spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete and TV personality Zizo Beda’s marriage has been under a microscope for some years now

Rumours of a separation, and then a divorce, were reported between the pair by several publications since 2017 but nothing was confirmed.

Recently, however, when Zizo Beda started trending on Twitter for her preaching, Mayihlome stepped in to defend her.

A video of Zizo preaching the word of God who met with criticism and trolling on Twitter, with many claiming that she is high or going through a very tough time to be talking like that. This is when Mayihlome tweeted in her defense, making it clear that Zizo has had the gift of preaching for years.

Naturally, he was applauded for this act because a man who defends his “wife” is honourable. However, Mayihlome poured cold water on claims that Zizo is his wife. He replied to a few tweets, explaining that he defended her because she is the mother of his son but he is not married.

Power couple Zizo Beda and Mayihlome Tshwete’s marriage is crumbling, according to sources close to the pair.

The publication has learnt that Zizo and Mayihlome’s five-year-old Union has collapsed and the two are heading for divorce.

Mayihlome has since moved out of their marital home in Fourways, north of Joburg, and is living in Midrand.

News of the disintegration of their union was revealed by a relative, who did not want to be named for fear of victimization.

Speaking to the publication, the relative said the estranged couple drifted apart in 2017 after failing to resolve their differences. The relative said the two, who walked down the aisle in a fairytale wedding in 2015, have been trying in vain to resolve their squabbles.

“They tried to fix things because they wanted to raise their son together. This year, Zizo informed her family that she was done with the marriage and intends to file for divorce.

“When we asked her why, she just said she lost interest in the marriage and believes Mayihlome too has lost interest,” said the relative.
The relative also said Zizo and Mayihlome finally met this year with their legal teams.

“Though it was painful for them, they felt it was the correct decision to take. They came to accept that while they loved each other, they can’t continue as husband and wife. There are many people who love each other, but they are not together, because love alone is not enough,” said the relative.

The relative said the couple has agreed that Mayihlome should move out and occupy their property in Midrand while Zizo, the former Selimathunzi presenter, will remain in Fourways with their son.

“The Fourways house is registered in her name while the Midrand home is registered in his name. They have also agreed that they will each keep their cars,” said the relative.

The relative said they agreed that the child will live with Zizo.

Mayihlome lost his temper when contacted for comment yesterday.

“As a grown-up man do you think you can call me and ask me about things like this? My personal life? I understand you are doing your job, but don’t call me about this please,” he said before hanging up.

Zizo declined to comment.
