Sphamandla Mabonga, who is a businessman and media personality Londie London’s ex-boyfriend, was reportedly shot in the ribs following a shootout at Tempo nightclub in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Friday night. According to Sunday World, the business tycoon is currently receiving treatment at Mediclinic Morningside.
A source told the publication that the incident occured after an argument broke out between Mabonga and another patron.

“He was involved in a verbal altercation with some guys at the club and then they started shooting each other,” said the unnamed source. The incident is said to have happened in full view of other patrons and there is video evidence.

“From how I understand it, Mabonga went outside to fetch his gun. The shooting happened outside first and then some gunshots inside because the receptionist was also shot,” the source added. It is also reported that the club has opened a case against Mabonga.Mabonga was thrust into the spotlight last year when his relationship with Londie was made public.

Shortly after news of the romance, the former Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) star showed off her BMW, which the businessman had gifted her. Less than a month later, Mabonga had bought the singer yet another BMW.

Londie London responds to breakup rumours

Former Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) cast member Londie London has hit back at rumours she and her man, Mabonga, have broken up. On Sunday the singer shared a mirror image of herself and her man with the caption: “Night swim.

The Suk’Emabhozeni singer also took to her Instagram Live to rubbish the claims, saying that she is on an island with her man and they are living their best lives.

This comes after claims on social media that the couple had broken up and Mabonga, who is said to be a businessman, repossessed the cars he bought for her earlier this year. Popular X gossip account @advobarryroux wrote: “Londie London & Mabonga broke up. After the break up Mabonga went & repossessed the cars he bought for her.”

The rumours appear to also have been fuelled by her ex-fiancé Hlubi Nkosi’s Bentley car purchase.
In May, the former Londie’s name featured a couple of times on the Twitter trends list as pictures of her and Mabonga went viral.

The mother-of-two’s boyfriend is reportedly from Eskhawini – a KwaZulu-Natal town between Richards Bay and Empangeni. According to Salty Entertainment, a popular gossip account, Mabonga is a scammer who allegedly dated Sbahle Mpisane – the stepdaughter of Royal AM president and multimillionaire, Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize. In addition, he is alleged to have paid lobolo for another woman last December.

Londie again trended when she shared that Mabonga had bought her yet another luxury BMW. Londie’s new car came only a week after he had bought her a BMW that is allegedly similar to the one her ex-fiancée, Hlubi Nkosi, repossessed from her earlier this year.

In her sit-down interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG and Sol Phenduka, the singer said that she suspects someone was behind her exit.

Londie was a fan-favourite in the second season of the Showmax Original series, which is set in Durban. But, fans were shocked in January 2023 when new cast members were announced alongside the show’s returnees and her name did not feature on the list. The Suk’Emabhozeni singer ended up only appearing for two episodes.

At the time, Showmax’s reality and entertainment local channels senior manager, Lerato Moruti, said: “Londie is now based in Johannesburg while MaKhumalo and LaConco have new hosting gigs on Mzansi Wethu’s new reality series Ezomshado and Mzansi Magic’s Our Perfect Wedding respectively.

“We’re grateful for everything they brought to the show but are delighted with the mix of old and new faces this season, which is going to be a cracker.”

Whilst Londie confirmed that she indeed relocated, she said she also suspects that someone had a hand in her exit.

“There were also some complications,” she told MacG and Sol.

She continued: “I don’t know the truth, but it felt like someone, there was a voice there at the back that was paid for me to not be there,” she said.

When MacG repeated her claim, she said: “It seemed that way because everyone was so confused.”

She added that at first she was told that she would be on six episodes and was later told that the number of episodes she’d appear in were reduced.

Londie said she thinks that the changes had to do with her relationship with her ex-fiance and father of her two children, Hlubi Nkosi, which had ended in April 2022.
