#HappyPrideMonth: Inside Lasizwe’s Pride Month luncheon

Mzansi media personality and actor, Lasizwe Dambuza hosted a luncheon at Ethos restaurant in Rosebank in collaboration with Bathu to recognize the impact of LGBTQIA+ individuals locally and internationally.

Taking to his Instagram, he wrote:

I had this little idea of hosting my friends and colleagues who are in the LGBTQWAAAAAA community doing amazing things in their fields of work. The community has been always raising issues and fighting for inclusion and diversity! TODAY WE CELEBRATE EACH OTHER, WE CELEBRATE OUR WIN AND WE CELEBRATE EACH OTHER!

The reality TV star and YouTuber did a Q&A with the publication, speaking on diversity, inclusion and the journey of authenticity in the entertainment space

How do you celebrate Pride Month, and what significance does it hold for you?

My collaboration with Bathu has been long an fulfilling over the years. It’s been beautiful. I celebrate Pride Month by opening it in style. By hosting a Pride lunch in collaboration and partnership with Bathu. We need to celebrate, we’ve cried about inclusivity, oppression and abuse for so long, so for a change I wanted us to celebrate.

Do you feel that marketing (social media, e-commerce and the like) is typically inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community?

We are not there yet. There’s still a lot of work to be done.

How should brands avoid looking like they’re rainbow-washing but still celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community?

Brands should do more talking and take more action, that’s how they will stop looking like they are rainbow-washing.

Do you feel there’s enough queer representation in the entertainment space, and why do you feel it is important?

Right now the entertainment space, especially in LGBTQIA+, is growing, there are so many young kids popping up from the community and it feels good that now there are more of us.

Lasizwe crowned winner of ‘The Perfect Picture’ season 2

After nine grueling weeks and tons of shutter speed photos taken, a winner has been crowned of the season 2 finale of Canon’s hit reality TV series, ‘The Perfect Picture’.

Outshooting six other contestants, Lasizwe Dambuza, Jonathan Boyton-Lee, and Nomvelo Makhanya were crowned the top three in the last episode and Ivan Roux was sadly sent home.

The contestants used every bit of knowledge they learned during the competition to clinch the grand prize of R150,000 in cash and R100,000 worth of Canon photographic equipment.

For the finale, the contestants headed out for an incredible adventure in the mountains of Lesotho, where Dambuza fell ill and required immediate medical attention but soldiered on for the rest of the competition.

The challenge kicked off when the contestants met Maps Maponyane for their final brief on a beautiful, snowy mountain.

Maponyane made it clear that they were no longer shutterbugs but earned the title of full-fledged photographer, where they competed in four smaller challenges, taking the perfect set of travel log pictures.

Resident judges Neo Ntsoma and Hilary O’Leary, joined by Tristan Schäfer, had the ultimate decision to make.

Starting with Makhanya’s pictures, the judges loved the use of her model who wore a balaclava, mentioning that it captures the feel of Lesotho perfectly. Dambuza’s collection of photos was said to be carefully considered, striking a great balance of depth that added to the story.

Lasizwe breaks the internet with his DSTV Content Creator Awards look

Lasizwe Dambuza serves a dramatic fashion statement at the DSTV Content Creator Awards 2023. The YouTuber wore a black see-through outfit; it left his derriere and other part of his body uncovered.

“Rip me outta the plastic, I’ve been acting brand new,” he captioned the post.

Lasizwe achieved his goal with the outfit as South Africans are talking about it on various social media platforms, with a majority slamming his fashion.

Award-winning comedian and content creator Donovan Goliath hosted the awards and navigated the night with energy and humor. Live music was curated and performed by SA legends Black Motion.

One of the country’s most powerful storytellers, authors, playwrights, and performers, Gcina Mhlophe, officially opened the awards by reading a beautiful poem and blessing the awards and all the attendees, nominees, and winners.

The show then kicked off with Bontle Modiselle Dance Studio lighting up the stage, accompanied by the Dance Award category nominees, 250Machine, Adriaan Hughes, Justin De Nobrega, Kelly KiKx, and Mr NT.

Lasizwe surprises fan at her Matric Dance

Lasizwe Dambuza surprises his female fan who wants to go on her matric dance with him. The YouTuber saw her request on a TikTok video and he decided to surprise her on her Matric dance day.
Lasizwe was properly dressed for the event, and upon meeting her in school, he proposed that she be his matric dance partner.

The star went with his famous brother, Lungile, who exuded a laudable amount of excitement.

“A few ago weeks, I saw a TikTok of this young lady asking me to be her Matric Dance Partner. Soooo. (Swipe to see her SURPRISE!) I SAID “YES”!!! WE ARE GOING TO THE MATRIC DANCE,” Lasizwe captioned post.

Lasizwe Says He Has No Interest In Dating A Women

Lasizwe Dambuza cuts short the hopes of many women as he confidently states that he has no interest in women. The YouTuber’s zero interest in dating a woman is no news as he has always revealed being gay in various ways. The star is open about his relationship despite facing disappointments severally.

During a recent interview on Metro FM’s Breakfast show, the actor said his brother, Lungile has helped him over the years till date in responding to people who don’t know that he is gay and belongs to the LGBTQ community.

Lasizwe says he still explains to people till date that there is no chance in this world that you will find him with a woman.

However, Dambuza hasn’t given up on love, but currently, his relationship status is vague to many.

Lasizwe talks about his sobriety journey

Lasizwe Dambuza is the latest local celeb to go on a sobriety journey. Over the last few months, both Mihlali Ndamase — a close friend of Lasizwe — and comedian Trevor Gumbi announced that they are putting the bottle down and going sober.

According Lasizwe, he has been sober for a month now. He also added that this first month without alcohol has been both difficult and rewarding for him. Award-winning content creator Lasizwe is turning over a new chapter in his life and he appears to love it for himself.

Taking to Twitter, Lasizwe shared with his followers that he has decided to go sober and has been at it for one month already. According to him, quitting alcohol has been both rewarding and challenging. Tomorrow marks a significant milestone for me, as it will have been over a month since I last consumed alcohol. This journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Maintaining sobriety in the midst of social gatherings can be difficult, especially when one’s friends are not abstaining,” he wrote.

In a heartwarming post, he also explains how his decision to stop drinking has even helped him with his anxiety battle.

“However, this experience has taught me valuable lessons in self-awareness and self-control, particularly in managing anxiety. I am proud of the progress I have made and look forward to continuing on this path of personal growth. Lasizwe joins his bestie and fellow content creator Mihlali Ndamase on the sobriety journey.

The 26-year-old made the announcement earlier this year while adding that she is happier than she has ever been. Funny-guy Trevor Gumbi also shared with his fans that he has also quit drinking and will soon be going on a year without a drink.

Lasizwe shares bad news with his Fans

Lasizwe bids goodbye to his YouTube channel with over 100k subscribers.Lasizwe Dambuza ends his YouTube channel after 5 years of running it. The actor got emotional while announcing the end of the channel.

Lasizwe appreciated his fans and over 100k subscribers for supporting him throughout the journey. He claims comedy isn’t his thing anymore, hence the end of that era.

“Comedy for me is now my weak point. The jokes I make back then, I don’t think I can’t make them now,” he said.

“Making this video has been so difficult for me as YouTube is my first home. Thank you to everyone who has supported and helped me grow in my YouTube journey, but it’s time we say goodbye to this chapter and let’s make room for a new ERA…” the TV personality captioned his YouTube video.

However, Lasizwe is starting a new channel with a different niche from comedy. On that note, I’m creating another channel named Africa Network Channel,” he wrote.

Lasizwe does the explosion prank on his brother, Lungile

Lasizwe has played a big prank on his brother, Lungile and he was not having it.

The explosion prank which has been going round TikTok recently got the attention of so many celebrities.

The trend on TikTok right now shows people using an electrical appliance, filming a video to send to their parents or loved ones and then the next thing we see is a huge explosion – something we now know to be a filter.

The trend is pure evil, especially when people go as far as sending it to their innocent mum followed by a voice note of sirens. But at the same time, it creates the best content so keep them coming.

Lasizwe then tried it on his brother and it went well.

He went on to share Lungile’s reaction and it was hilarious.

Lasizwe receives backlash for his skit on possible terrorist attack in SA

Lasizwe Dambuza has been criticized and trolled after dropping a skit on the possible terrorist attack which might happen today, 29th of October in the Sandton area of Johannesburg, South Africa.

A few days ago, the US government issued a warning to South Africans: “The U.S. government has received information that terrorists may be planning to conduct an attack targeting large gatherings of people at an unspecified location in the greater Sandton area of Johannesburg, South Africa, on 29 October 2022.” However, President Cyril Ramaphosa calmed people with a message which reads: “Threats are assessed continuously and are acted upon to ensure the safety of all. Should the need arise, the South African government will be the first to inform the public about any imminent threat. Issued by The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa,” Cyrl said.

Lasizwe who is regared one of the top YouTubers in the world created a funny content about the terrorist attack, but some viewers claimed the video isn’t funny.

He was also trolled for not being creative enough as a content creator.
“Being a content creator is tough. Lasizwe’s hunger for content creation is no longer there,” a tweep wrote.

The South African star traveled to Spain days ago, and he totally had a swell time as seen in photos and videos shared, though some officers tried tainting his joy with racist behaviour.

“So I got racially profiled. The police in Spain stopped me inside the airport and asked for my passport then they told me to wear my mask (bare in mind it’s not mandatory in Spain to wear masks anymore except for when you are in a public transport)”

“They told me if they catch me without a mask at the airport they were going to arrest me or fine me when I looked around at the airport NO ONE WAS WEARING MASKS (also bare in mind it’s just white people here. Black people are a 1:1000 scale here) after the security check point.”

“I said fvck it I removed my mask and made friends to just move around with them… I felt like they targeted me because I was alone, young and black. This was a very wild experience still trying to process it.”
