Former Generations: The Legacy actor, Vuyo Dabula who played the role of Gadaffi is making a comeback on our small screens. Dabula is joining the cast of the popular SABC 1 drama, Uzalo, which is shot on location in KwaMashu and the city of Durban in KwaZulu Natal.

According to TrueLove, Vuyo Dabula is leaving the show and will not be part of the upcoming season after the negotiations with the producers allegedly failed.

Vuyo Dabula played the gangster Gadaffi, AKA Kumkani Phakade and was a fan favourite, who was always described as a “thug in a suit.” Vuyo was cast in 2014 and towards the end of his stay at Generations: The Legacy, Vuyo Dabula had been rumoured to be leaving the show but he had later on denied such claims.
This was because he was playing on the hit Netflix series starring Pearl Thusi called Queen Sono, but the show did not get renewed. He had been given an ultimatum by the producers of Generations: The Legacy, to pick which production he would stay with and he had chosen Queen Sono.

Recently watchers saw the exit of Gadaffi from Generations: The Legacy. Fans accepted that they were seeing the remainder of him following reports that grant winning entertainer Vuyo Dabula who has been exemplifying the person for a large portion of 10 years has unloaded the show for greener fields.

An Insider revealed to Daily Sun recently that the star was shooting his leave scenes from the show and furthermore affirmed that the person was not being killed off the show as makers were worried about the appraisals.

Rumour has it that actor Vuyo Dabula (44) is leaving Generations: The Legacy.

He’s not going anywhere, Gadaffi as he is known on the soapie, tells us firmly. He says the reports about his ‘departure’ left him gob smacked.

I am staying. There are a whole lot of stories around this. It is a bit bizarre, the idea that i am leaving Generations ha been preceded by other news that has been circulating that i am leaving SA.”he says

There have been several versions of stories about his alleged departure.

If he’s not joining the telenovela The Queen, he’s going to Uzalo. Some say he was forced to choose between the soapie and Queen Sono, And some even suggested he’s going international.

” The fantastic one, the grand one, was that i was going to work with 50 cents on Black Mafia family.It is certainly exciting to read.” the actor said

Vuyo is par of the cast of Queen Sono season 1 which gave him an opportunity to tap into the spy genre. While there was excitement and mention of Season 2, it as unfortunately canned.

” We were going to do Queen Sono next year but unfortunately that has been canceled,” he adds.

He stars in a South African action movie Shaft 6, that was released in November.

Filming Queen Sono wouldn’t have been easy during a pandemic, he says.

” It would have been a struggle with the times we are living in, it would have been a bit of a nightmare, Vuyo explains.

As disappointing as it is, Vuyo says one has to kind of keep a cool head and work around the pandemic.

“For most people, the fact that you are able to provide for your family is good enough,” he adds.

He is currently finishing off shooting on Generations just before the production goes on a holiday break.

His character i still a firm favorite with the ladies, after more than five years playing Gadaffi, the charming criminal who lives his own rules.

“Just from the audition, I remember saying to myself on the first day, on set and I wwas next to Ronnie Nyakale, (Papa Action in Yizo Yizo) “What am i getting myself into?” he laughs.

Although the pandemic has d established some of his plans, remains hopeful about the future.

“Hopefully, Vuyo Daula will have his hands on the pie with his rapidly growing industry as we attract International attention.

There is so much potential growth.”

He chose Queen Sono over Generations The Legacy, sources confirm. Mzansi had come to know Dabula as Gadaffi, the thug in a suit. He has perfectly played his character with such complexity that fans often have a love-hate relationship with him.

Viewers of Generations were left broken after they learned that the star actor was not renewing his contract.

Well, it has finally been confirmed by sources close to the show that he was given an ultimatum by the show producers who made him chose between leaving the soapie and going for the upcoming Nexflix season of Queen Sono. He chose to leave.

Dabula exit comes in the wake of Rapulana and Zitha exit from the show a few months ago.

“They placed two options before him, either he chooses to stay with the show or goes to shoot the upcoming season of Netflix’s Queen Sono, but he chose to leave. He made his decision earlier this month and will be leaving the show shortly,” said a source.

Vuyo’s career is gunning for its peak at the moment.

Gadaffi’s Generations colleagues expressed disappointment over his move to Queen Sono. Several actors claimed that it’s not as financially stable as Generations.
