The Queen EXPOSED

Things are not looking good for 161 Mzansi Magic‘s Telenovela The Queen. According to Phil Mphela the show’s episodes have been repeating the same storyline for over two weeks with manor twists to it. Does this mean the show is losing its touch?

A viewer-supported Mphela’s statement saying it has been repeating for more than two weeks. Not so long ago the telenovela was brought to its knees by Umkhokha which resulted to the soap dropping down from being the most-watched show on DSTV. Could it be that the show has released many actors and it is running short or are they finding it hard to move on since the passing of their Executive Producer and filmmaker Shona Ferguson?

Connie Ferguson’s daughter Lesedi Matsunyane posted on social media that they were looking for male actors who were going to be Brutus (played by Themba Ndaba) sons. The category included them being able to speak KZN Zulu.

This was shortly after the show released Shaka played by SK Khoza, who was allegedly hitting his ex-fiancée Ayanda Hlongwane as reported in the press.

The soap also lost Cindy Mahlungu who was playing Siyanda. Mahlungu allegedly left the show without a clear explanation. Mahlungu also played in one of the Ferguson Films series called ‘KINGS of JO’BURG’ alongside Zolisa Xaluva, SK Khoza, Abdul Khoza and Thembi Seete to name a few.

Having faith on behalf of the telenovela a fan commented saying “the show had to improvise their story line a lot over the past eight months. With one of the actors fired, two others leaving and the producers passing away affected the lead character. Another one got injured on set. I’m not surprised. They just need to stabilize the ship. They will be fine.”

Judging by the comments on Twitter the queen is not the only soap that is repeating their storylines, The River on 161, The Estate on SABC 3, and SABC 1’s Skeem Sami are on the same bus.

A viewer commented, “So true, I was just thinking that yesterday. For instance flora is always coming to beg for her job back when she has realized she can’t live without working for Lindiwe. It’s tiring.”

Another viewer s added to comments , “ I’ve been saying telenovela must not be more than two seasons or three ,because hayi no they all lose the plot or do not know what direction to take.”

Coming back to The Queen, viewers have advised them not to rush some storylines like they did to Clive’s, saying the story gave out a strong message that needed to be explored deeper.

We are crossing fingers that the soap recovers from this before losing more viewers who are tired of being fed the annoying Noma played by talented Brenda Ngxoli and the overnight broke Goodness played by Zenande Mfenyana.

Why these Actors were fired from The Queen

Why these Actors were fired from The Queen.

Mzansi Magic’s hit telenovela The Queen has experienced its fair share of actors leaving the show. Shona and Connie Ferguson, who produced the show, explained the high turnover saying that it is the nature of the industry. Characters come and go as telenovelas continuously reinvent the storyline.

However, sometimes the actors do not leave the show of their own accord. Below are some of the actors who were fired from The Queen.

Dineo Langa

Why these Actors were fired from The Queen

Actress and television presenter Dineo Langa who had been with the show since its first episode in 2016 was fired from The Queen after she allegedly asked for some time off to shoot another movie. Instead, she received a stern email from the producers telling her to not return to work after the lockdown.

Dineo who used to play the role of Kea Khoza later confirmed that she was fired from the telenovela. She revealed this in an Instagram post after a fan asked her about leaving The Queen. In the post, Dineo said,

“Ang’buyi mina ngaxoshwa (I am not coming back, I was fired)”.

Replying to another user she said: “My character was removed from the show. The character will be dying soon soon.”

Rami Chuene

Veteran actress Rami Chuene was also killed off from the hit television show after her relationship with the Fergusons deteriorated when she allegedly sided with fellow actress Vatiswa Ndaba. This is after the seasoned actress, wrote an open letter to sports, arts and culture minister Nathi Mthethwa, last year, highlighting her experiences working for the Fergusons. The letter was highly critical of the Fergusons.

Why these Actors were fired from The Queen

Chuene played the role of Gracious “T-Gom” Mabuza, a fiery, religious and gun-toting woman, who was wildly popular with the fans.

Confirming her exit from the show, Rami Chuene wrote,

“Yes, TGOM’s stint on #TheQueenMzansi has come to an end. Unfortunately, I won’t be getting into details as advised by my legal team. I still have to finish shooting and I’m hoping to execute as excellently, exceptionally and professionally as I always have. #TGOMNATION forever”.

Mlamli Mangcala

Actor Mlamli Mangcala who played the role of Captain Sthembiso Radebe on The Queen also left the show after making allegations of lies and deception. Mangcala claimed that he was being exploited by the Fergusons whom he alleged basically made him pay for him to appear on television.

Why these Actors were fired from The Queen

According to Mangcala, he had to cover his own travel and accommodation costs when travelling from Cape Town to Johannesburg to shoot. He also said that he never got the salary that he was promised as he would only get an increment of R100 when he negotiated his contract.

Sello Maake ka Ncube

Veteran actor Sello Maake ka Ncube who used to play the role of Kgosi also left The Queen under a cloud. However, ka Ncube did not give any details as to what had transpired to make him leave the show and instead said that the Fergusons were the only ones who could reveal the fuzzy details behind his exit from the show.

Why these Actors were fired from The Queen

Sello Maake Ka Ncube stated the following:

“The Fergusons can only be the one’s who will reveal the sketchy details surrounding my exit on the show. However, I can confirm that, there was something that went wrong between us but they are best suited in letting the public know of what the reasons were.”

The actor, however, expressed his support for Rami Chuene when she was fired from The Queen

Marah Louw

Seasoned television actress Marah Louw who played the role of Sis Boi on the Mzansi Magic show was also fired by the Fergusons after she apparently refused to shoot a scene which was too traumatic for her. Said Marah

“I refused because the storyline resembled an incident that is in my book. I told them that I was not going to re-enact my life in a soapie. I refused because it is the kind of incident that I would not want to go through again, let alone talking about it. I told them that they got the story from my book and there is a copyright issue involved. They asked another actress to act in the episode, which still hurt me.”

Louw also revealed that she was offered a per-call contract on the popular soapie which she found “insulting and disrespectful” considering her decades of experience in the industry.

Shona Ferguson later claimed that Marah was not fired from the show but was in and out of contract. A furious Marah punched back and shared a letter which proved that she had been fired by Ferguson Films.

So there you have it, five actors fired from The Queen and the reasons why.

Covid-19 has resulted in many prestigious award ceremonies, local and international, going the virtual or pre-recorded route.

The 4th Royalty Soapie Awards did the latter, with the recorded screening airing on SABC1 on Saturday, September 26, at 8 pm.

Despite the absence of the usual star-struck audience, the event, which was filmed in a studio, retained its glitz with Mpho Popps and Lerato Kganyago as the host.

It kicked off on a satirical note with a water bottle thrown at Popps in a scene reminiscent of Lebogang Khitsane’s memorial service, where his sister got on stage an accused his wife of being unfaithful.

Aside from three wardrobe changes, Popps and Kganyago engaged with playful banter and a few quips thrown in for good measure.

Woven into the awards line-up were snippets of industry heavyweights commenting on the importance of being recognised.

Simoné Pretorius and David Bloch were the first personalities to kick off the presentations for the technical category.

The other presenting pairs included: Lorraine Moropa and Buhle Samuels, Shannon Esra and Presley Chweneyagae, MaBlerh and Chris Q Radebe, Lootlove and Frans Mohale and Macdonald Ndou and Sihle Ndaba.

“Muvhango” co-stars Maumela Mahuwa and Gabriel Temudzani presented the Outstanding Couple category.

“I thought the Lifetime Achiever award, I thought that was for old people, at the end of their career. I thought that’s why Zola calls me, ‘Madala’.

“I suppose I have to accept that I’m on the old side of things but I’m not accepting that I’m at the end of my career. I think that there’s a whole lot ahead. So thank you so much, everybody, greatly appreciated.”

What To Expect On The Queen This August(Spoilers)

What To Expect On The Queen This August(Spoilers)

What To Expect On The Queen This August(Spoilers)

It’s no surprise that Seiphemo’s latest character has been compared to his old character, given that there are so many similarities and differences to Hector Sebata and Tau Mogale.

Both characters are powerful, successful, manipulative and family-oriented men. Hector is a corrupt Chief of police and Mogale is a suit with a shady past. Hector follows trouble while Mogale is followed by trouble because of his dodgy connections (Jack Mabaso and Kumkani Phakade)

Tau Mogale has been on our screens for almost a decade, it’s hard to picture Rapulana as anyone else and fans still refer to Sebata as Tau Mogale. There’s even a Chicken Licken advert of the iconic character.

What to expect:

On The Queen, Sebata and Harriet Khoza (Connie Ferguson) are rivals and while Sebata is joining the show with his daughters, played by Jessica Nkosi and Nthando Duma, not much is disclosed about his ex-wife. Apparently the previous Generations The Legacy duo (Karabo Moroka and Tau Mogale) will be romantic love birds again on The Queen. They have so much in common and I cannot recall Harriet ever being romantically linked to anyone on the show since Zack (her previous business associate).

When Harriet finds out that Hector is behind her daughter’s death, she will be out to seek revenge and wants to kill one of his daughters, but she may come to terms with the loss of her daughter and forgive him, upon realizing nothing will bring Kea back.

Hector Sebata, unlike Tau, has no conscience, and true to character he does not hesitate to back-stab anyone to get what he wants. Sebata and Harriet are both family orientated and will do anything to protect their honour. Although Sebata is on a mission to kill Harriet now, he will eventually fall in love with her when he gets to know the real Harriet (a softer, kinder, gentler and loving side).

The Ferguson’s appointment of Jessica Nkosi was meticulous; they required a Dineo Langa lookalike that could make fans sort of forget about Kea Khoza.

If it appears The Ferguson’s are targeting Mfundi Vundla’s main actors, that’s because they probably are!
