ProVerb sets the record straight

ProVerb might not be giving fans any more music after a long hiatus, as he claimed he’s offering people more than songs. The TV personality opened about his offerings after a fan pleaded that he release a song. Grootman please do 1 song… Really enjoyed your music, especially writers blog,” says the fan.

In response, the rapper mentioned music projects released years ago; he further explained that he’s indirectly putting out songs by hosting one of the biggest music show in SA, Idols.

ProVerb also added that he’s one of the board member of SAMRO, SA Music Rights Organisation, hence there’s no need to enter the studio to sing.

“One song? Try 5 albums, 16 songs each, a mixtape, a DVD, countless collabs and 20 years of my life. Now I produce a show that gives others a platform to make all the songs they want and line their pockets with 1 million rand cash every season and serve on the board of an organisation that services the entire South African industry. How many songs is that?” he wrote.

Proverb announces return of ‘The Property Game’ Season 2

Proverb has taken to his social media to announce the return of ‘The Property Game’ for Season 2. The star is the host for the show alongside property expert Koketso Sylvia Milosevic. In this documentary series, new property investors tell their stories of how they got started in the industry.

They share their journeys on their first property investment deals, find out what led to each investor’s success, and we get first-hand insight into the highs, the lows and the challenges – and, most importantly, how that deal brought the investor closer to financial freedom.Proverb

Well, Proverb did not share the exact day it will kick off but he made it known that it is soon.

Idola SA Judge ProVerb goes back to school

IDOLS SA host and producer Tebogo “ProVerb” Thekisho is making education fashionable.

This as the multitalented rapper is set to pursue a BBA degree as per his announcement on his Facebook account.

“And so it begins – my journey towards obtaining my BBA with Regenesys Business School. As the saying goes, do something today that your future self will thank you for, #RegenesysBusinessSchool,” he shared.

ProVerb’s post proved to be a source of inspiration as fans shared how he encouraged them to go back to school.

Said Blessing TK Madonsela: “We have followed your journey from when we admired your rap and how you pushed yourself up in life. I’m proud to say you inspire so many. Through all the hardships and challenges you have faced, you came out stronger and wiser. Big ups on always striving to improve yourself. I have no doubt that you will do well on this BBA, and MBA will soon be on the cards.”

Nandi Adonis said she previously criticised and spoke ill of ProVerb, but later found inspiration in him. “In 2019, you posted a status complaining about load shedding. If I remember correctly, you were also busy with school work but you managed to book yourself and kids into a hotel (I stand to be corrected). I, like many others, commented and dissed you on complaining. Whereas your kids were nicely tucked in a warm bed, I, on the other hand, was with my two kids, unemployed, living in a small room in someone’s backyard and sleeping on concrete cement. Shame Pro, you tried to show us you were not making fun of our situation because you actually understood.

“Out of that, I thought about all the jobs you were doing, and the fact that you still managed to go to school because you wanted to improve. I decided to take that from that status. I vowed the minute I got a job, I would go back to school. Happy to say that a few months later, I was permanently employed. I found a much better place to stay with my babies. Registered for my BA & guess what? I passed my first year with flying colours. Thank you Pro. You made me remember something I’ve always known – that my situation does not define me. So just know that when you post about school and other stuff, someone is watching and taking it all in. Enjoy this new journey. I know you’ll do well.”

For the past few years, ProVerb has been collecting several qualifications, including a tax law certificate.

TV and radio personality ProVerb leaves Kaya FM

Television and radio character Tebogo Thekisho, prevalently known as ProVerb, has headed out in different directions with famous radio broadcast Kaya FM.

The gifted moderator used to introduce two shows on the station.

He facilitated Kayasette on Fridays, where he visited to neighborhood performers and had unplugged meetings.

On Saturdays he held it down on The Winner’s Circle, where he had sit-downs with pioneers and had sagacious discussions.

In an explanation, the multi-capable host expressed gratitude toward the station for the chance it gave him.

“Much thanks to you so much, Kaya FM. I’m endlessly thankful for the great experience and opportunity. My most profound appreciation to Afropolitans for going through their ends of the week with me the most recent four years, the very best and God Bless,”, said ProVerb.

As per the station, DJ Keyez will be subbing for ProVerb until a substitution is reported.

Kaya FM’s between time MD Colleen Louw said the Kaya family will miss ProVerb profoundly.

“Both of his shows have been a piece of the station’s story, and we are tragic to see him go. We express gratitude toward him for his administration, his mind blowing hard working attitude and the superb energy he brought to the station,” he said.

Proverb bags certificate in Tax Law from UCT

#IdolsSA host ProVerb speaks on his new book

The star says the main reason he decided to write the book was because of the knowledge he has gained over the years and he felt well-positioned to share his insights and views.

Synonymous with success and longevity and evolving career in the entertainment industry it is not hard to know why ProVerb – real name Tebogo Thekisho – is one of the most popular figures in music and televisions.

A career that spans two decades, the rapper, radio host and Idols SA host has pinned down a personal and open account on his road to success in his memoir The Book of ProVerb titled inspired by his classic hip hop album of the same name released in 2005. From recording his first demo at just 15 to hustling his way into a successful music career, the award-winning performer and host said the idea of writing the book was started in 2019 with fellow author Paballo Rampa.

“We initially recorded all our candid conversations and then transcribed. We then started adding all the details and corroborating facts and building each chapter until we were satisfied. Often we would have to revisit chapters as changes in my life were happening real-time like the passing of my grandmother earlier this year,” says ProVerb.

“The editing process took another two months or so and in almost exactly a year we had completed the process and ready to publish.”

The star says the main reason he decided to write the book was because of the knowledge he has gained over the years and he felt well-positioned to share his insights and views.

“Personally my challenges and dark periods I was hoping would perhaps inspire others also struggling with similar situations by revealing how I rose above my difficulties and continue to strive for a happy and peaceful, fulfilling life. My wish is also to stimulate conversations around mental health but also inspire others to pursue their dreams.”

Parts of the book he details the lowest moments in his life, the Kaya FM radio host says the process of revealing this information was actually cathartic.

“This process only added to my peace and set me free. Revisiting my lowest moments made me realise how far I’ve come since then and I began to realise the importance of sharing my story,” he says.

“Many like me go through similar if not worse situations but never speak of them. If this perhaps offers an opportunity to offer hope to the next person then it’s my duty to speak openly about it and perhaps show that I’m also not immune, but just as I have survived, so can the next person.”

With a high calibre career, ProVerb’s next step is to help others and give them a platform too.

“The TV show (Idols SA) I host and produce seeks to unearth new talent and my radio shows offer new and established artists a platform. The few philanthropic and CSI (corporate social investment) initiatives I’m a part of and support, are geared towards giving back and empowering others,” he says.

“As I mention in my memoir, my entire career is built on the support of others so I now wish to use my position to help others. I believe that success is measured by how many you bring with you, and this is now my mission in life.”

ProVerb concludes that he hopes the book can give a reader hope, be inspired as he found a feeling of fulfilment and peace.

ProVerb tells all in ‘The Book of ProVerb’

“Idols SA” host and co-executive producer Proverb (real name Tebogo Thekisho), has released his memoir, “The Book of ProVerb”.

ProVerb recorded his first demo, using his mom’s sound system, at the age of 15.

The star worked his way into the entertainment industry, with a musical career spanning just over 15 years.

In this memoir, ProVerb pays tribute to the people who’ve helped him become the person he is today; a successful businessman, radio and television host as well as an award-winning musician.

In his autobiography, the star wears his heart on his sleeve, sharing lessons has he learnt during the different phases of his life.

He also opens up about the dark times he’s endured, including a painfully public divorce and suicide attempt.

His 10-year marriage ended in 2015 after allegations of his wife’s infidelity surfaced.

In 2016, during an interview with Masechaba Ndlovu on Power FM, the muso explained that he had to stop being a victim for the sake of his children.

“In the middle of the darkness, it’s pretty hard and it’s pretty lonesome and it’s cold. But with the faith that the other side is brighter, is better, I think that’s ultimately what fuels you to keep going.

“Also, I had to stop being selfish because at the time I was all about me, the victim, me, me, me … but when I stepped off of that and realised that I have my children, my family, my career, it almost stopped being about me,” he told Ndlovu at the time.

“The Book of ProVerb” is a memoir, a hustle manifesto and a wholesome guide to life from one of South Africa’s brightest stars.

Taking to social media recently, the star shared the cover of his memoir. He wrote: “My truth, my fears, my flaws, my dreams, my highs, my lows, my story.”
