Nandi Madida and her hubby Zakes Bantwini attacked for being liars

Zakes Bantwini has come under fire for his tweet about COVID-19 deaths occurring as a result of stage two load shedding. The muso blatantly said four close people who were hospitalized and put in ventilators have died because electricity was cut due to load shedding.

This did not sit well with many people because we can all assume that hospitals have backup generators, right? Well according to Zakes Bantwini these four people who sadly lost their lives, died due to their ventilators not working because of load shedding. He further said he worries about the many other people who might have passed on due to load shedding.

“I know at least 4 people who passed today, their ventilations stopped working because of load shedding. I wonder how many people lost their loved ones today because of load shedding, can we at least deal with one pandemic at a time please.”

Flooding his comments section were people who were in disbelief at how much a person of his caliber could potentially mislead people.

@TboozeSA said, “Uyaxoka, Suxoka (you’re lying, stop lying) … hospitals have a backup generator and load shedding level 2 doesn’t impact hospitals.”

@gino_gavaza said, “U just decide to LIE unprovoked. Hospitals have backup generators. All these 4 people u know happened to be in ventilators????”

@kgomo389 commented, “I wished you mentioned the names of these hospitals which don’t have a backup generator. Ave uzekubopha uZweli Mkhize (Zweli Mkhize is going to arrest you.)

@Master_Sandz said. “Hospitals have back up generators that kick-in as soon as the power goes off. & I am talking like split seconds such that if u inside the hospital u won’t even notice that there was a power trip. So @ZakesBantwiniSA get ur facts right before misleading the nation.”

Many tried to defend him by saying it could be possible that these people used the ventilators at home, “I think he is referring to the ventilators in the Parking Lot. Remember COVID patients use the temporary beds and ventilators at the parking Lot while they try and organize a bed within the hospital. I am talking from experience in a Netcare hospital. So he may not be lying.”

Zakes defended himself by saying, “I accept that our realities are different, often times when ppl don’t understand/relate to something, they will label it as lies/absurd. No where did I mention the word hospital as that maybe be ur assumption/reality. Abantu bayafa bantu bakithi, asiyeke umdonsiswano ongathi shu (people are dying, lets stop dragging each other.)

After his tweet, his wife was dragged into it and also called a liar over her Nala tweet from September 2020.

Songbird and actress Nandi Madida and her manager, Amaru Da Costa, are at each other’s throats over a R3.7-million Lux deal she clinched in 2018.

Madida, who is married to fellow musician Zakes Bantwini, claims Amaru Da Costa has failed or refused to pay her over R800 000 of the total amount collected on her behalf from iconic soap owner Unilever.

The shocking details are contained in the summons she obtained in the Johannesburg High Court against Amaru Da Costa, real name Thamsanqa Fakaza, last week.

In the papers, Madida said she had signed a talent service agreement with Amaru Da Costa’s company, Ade Holding Proprietary, on May 24 2018 to market, advertise and do public relations campaigns for a range of Lux products in exchange for a fee.

According to their agreement, which is called Scheduled 3, Unilever was supposed to pay Amaru Da Costa’s company over R2.7-million excluding value-added tax for the deal.

The money was supposed to have been paid to Madida in tranches between June 18 2019 and January 2020.

“Payments by the agency shall be made subject to the receipt by the agency of a valid invoice from the artist. In terms of the Schedule 3 of the contract, the fee payment was structured in four quarterly equal payments for the duration of the term of the contract, namely every six months. The said payment was to be effected by the defendant upon receiving an invoice from the plaintiff as per paragraph of Schedule 3 of the contract,” read the papers.

Madida, who serenaded Mzansi’s kings and queens with the song Skhanda Love she did with rapper KO, said she submitted the invoice to Da Costa on December 11 last year.

But, she said, Amaru Da Costa, who was recently accused of rape by former Soulistic Music employee and publicist Boniswa Meslane, failed or refused to pay her despite repeated demands for him to do so.

Madida confirmed that she took Amaru Da Costa to court for failing to pay her the outstanding balance of her Lux deal.

Nandi Madida is a South African singer, actress and television presenter who rose to fame with the 2011 release of the single Tonight, which she wrote and had produced by DJ Franky.

She gained further fame with the release of her debut album Nandi in September 2012, which was followed up by her first music video, Goodtimes, in February 2013.

Nandi began performing at the age of four when she was cast as the lead ballerina in a ballet. She went on to do modelling, winning numerous titles including Miss Junior RSA.

As she prides herself with fruitful campaigns, Nandi took to Twitter to confirm that an agent for the LUX campaign has been summoned by the courts.

She also tagged the @SundayWorldZA correcting them after they published on the front page “Nandi and Manager fight over 3,7m deal“. She wrote, “He is not my manager & has never been my manager as the headline suggests”.

The letter Nandi wrote stated:

Thank you for all love and support, I can confirm that summons have been sent this week from my legal team to an agent who worked on the LUX campaign for Unilver Thamsanqa Fakazi (know as Amaru Da Costa) from Ade Holding Proprietary who is NOT my manager and has never been my manager as his company is the agency for this campaign. He has been issued with a summons due to outstanding money he has not paid from my LUX endorsement, as their ambassador.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case, as it is going to court I cannot divulge details of the case but it has been communicated to me by Unilever that all amounts due and payable in terms of the contract have been made to the agent for their LUX campaign Thamsanqa Fakazi (Amaru Da Costa) of ADE agency.

I have never been to court before nor have I ever had money outstanding or owed to me from any endorsement I’ve been involved with before. This is the first as I pride myself of enjoying great fruitful relationships with all brands I work with.
