In a video circulating on social media, Sundowns fans can be seen holding signs with insults written on them.

Ndlozi said the behaviour from fans was uncalled for.

“Very sorry coach Pitso for what happened to you. Africa loves you. Many Sundowns supporters can’t identify with those hooligans,” he said.

“They are not the majority and will never be the majority. We love you and are very proud of you. Keep being super-iconic.”

The EFF issued a statement calling for the SA Football Association (Safa) and the Caf to fine Sundowns and hold its fans accountable.

Speaking about the incident, Mosimane said he was emotional when he saw people swearing at him and his mother.

“I was a little bit emotional only when I saw the placards outside and they stop the bus and all these people swearing at me, swearing at my mother,” he said.

“I said to myself, what else should I have done for this team to get respect? But it’s football and I understand and I know the person who did that. I know the person who is behind that.”

Sundowns condemned the behaviour of their fans, saying it was “unacceptable, improper and does not reflect the integrity, respect, compassion and other values which we uphold”.

Safa condemned the actions of the supporters and vowed to bring the culprits to book.

Police confirmed that EFF MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi was not a suspect in a rape case opened at the weekend, as had been reported

The EFF has dismissed rape claims levelled against MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, saying this was part of ongoing co-ordinated attempts to criminalise party leaders through false and malicious allegations.

Police on Monday confirmed that Ndlozi was not a suspect in a rape case that a 23-year-old woman had opened with Gauteng police. Based on the woman’s affidavit, the Daily Sun reported that a complaint had been opened against Ndlozi.

SAPS spokesperson Brig Mathapelo Peters said that while a rape case was indeed opened, Ndlozi “is not a suspect in this case”.

Peters also slated the writer of the story for not seeking police comment and for using the victim’s statement, “a legal and confidential document that can only have been obtained through unlawful and unethical means”.

In the Daily Sun article, Ndlozi was quoted as saying that he wasn’t at the Sandton address where the incident took place.

“It’s a terrible instance of mistaken identity. I, however, offer my full co-operation and will do the same should police contact me. I hope the actual perpetrator is found and sent to jail for a very long time,” he was quoted as saying.

Responding, Daily Sun editor Mapula Nkosi said that the reporter did contact police, and was informed that the request for comment was sent to Peters, who the paper says didn’t respond to the questions by the time of publication.

Nkosi also defended its story.

“In the statement, police confirm that a case of rape was opened as reported by Daily Sun. They also confirm that they are still investigating the case. Daily Sun stands by our story and condemns the attack by police on ‘The People’s Paper’ and the journalist,” she said.

In a strongly-worded statement, the EFF said the incident was an attempt to ruin Ndlozi’s reputation.

“The leadership of the EFF is fully aware that there are co-ordinated attempts to criminalise leaders … through false allegations of crime, including rape allegations,” said spokesperson Vuyani Pambo.

The party accused the Daily Sun of obtaining the affidavit illegally, and said it would support Ndlozi in pursuing a defamation case against the publication.

The party further accused the state of working with the media to link its leadership with wrongdoing.

“There are embedded elements in the state working with the establishment that are hell-bent on linking EFF leadership to crime because they think such will prevent the unavoidable meteoric rise of the EFF to political power here in SA.

“We call on all leaders of the EFF to be on alert because the enemy is out to get us. We send a very strong caution to the sitting president and his hunting dogs that we will fight with everything in our power to counter the unlawful and below-the-belt methods to fight political battles,” the party said in statement.

The party acknowledged that gender-based violence and rape were a huge problem in the country, but cautioned that it “must never be used to fight political battles”.

“The sitting government and the ruling party must caution their hunting dogs to stop using false allegations of GBV and rape to fight narrow political and factional battles. Society as a whole should reject the nonsensical misuse of the struggle against GBV and rape for political battles. It is unacceptable and must stop.

“We encourage commissar Ndlozi to remain strong and focused and continue with the economic excellent work he is doing on the ground and in parliament. All these shenanigans will soon be exposed for what they are,” the statement read.

Social media is in a frenzy and currently divided over rape allegations against EFF member Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi. Daily Sun has reported that a 23-year-old woman is accusing the politician for raping her last week Friday.

The woman opened a case against Ndlozi who in a statement said she was allegedly raped by a man who called himself Quinton. They were apparently at a posh Sandton penthouse for a party. The publication revealed contents of her written statement where she says 10 minutes into the party, she got approached by “Quinton” who then kept her company and together enjoyed a few drinks.

After the party, the departed the penthouse to party at a different location with the said man and his friends. The young woman then says at around 3:30 she felt “dizzy” and went into one of the bedrooms. The man then apparently approached her and offered to assist. But she blacked out and could not remember a thing but when she finally regained her senses, she found the man on top of her and they were both naked.

“The complainant alleged she was invited by a friend to join them at the party in Rivonia. The place closed and they stayed there until the next morning at about 1.30am. Some of the guys suggested they continue with the party somewhere else…During the conversation and interaction with Quinton, it became quiet at 3.30am. She remembered Quinton coming to the door asking if she was okay. The other girls were in their rooms,” parts of her statement reads.

The part which left social media users puzzled was that the woman claims to have googled a man named Quintin and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi popped up. His middle name is apparently Quintin so the woman put two and two together. Before searching the man’s name, she had asked around about the man but the women with her did not know who she was talking about.

The EFF member is adamant that the allegations are false, telling Daily Sun he was not at a party in Sandton. To him, this is a case of mistaken identity but will be cooperating with investigators to resolve the case and absolve the serious charge against him.

He wishes Quintin gets caught and gets locked up in jail for a long time, “It’s a terrible instance of mistaken identity. I, however, offer my full cooperation and will do the same should police contact me. I hope the actual perpetrator is found and sent to jail for a very long time,” he told the publication.

It is unlike Ndlozi today on the twitter streets, his queer silence has raised alarm from Tweeps who believe he owed them one of his usual rants after the presidential address.

On Saturday night, President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation on new lockdown regulations as he eased restrictions to level 2. Notably unbanning booze and cigarette sale from retail shops while easing mobility restrictions too.

This was after consultations with the cabinet whenceforth the South African government decided to ease the lockdown measures.

In most occasions after a Presidential address on lockdown measures or national updates; it had always been in Ndlozi’s utmost pretentious character to pen down disapproval of whatever that would have been addressed to the nation – meaningful or not.

To many Tweeps dismay, that was not the case today.

Many expected him to lash out at the re-admission of sale of booze – something his party EFF had long criticised.

While a great deal of them just missed his meaningless rants – for the fun of dragging him afterwards.

Here are some of the reactions Mzansi had after Ndlozi snubbed them on a commentary to the presidential address.
