Masasa Mbangeni Speaks Up About Her Break Up

Masasa Mbageni is the acclaimed SAFTA-award-winning actress who made her mark when she portrayed the villainous character of Thembeka Shezi.TV’s Scandal. However, her personal life was highlighted when she shared her love story with Tshedza Films co-owner and executive producer Gwydion Beynon.

In 2021, the couple seemed happy as Masasa took to her social media to celebrate the anniversary of their relationship as reported at the time:

Taking to social media, Masasa expressed her never dying love for her man in celebration of their anniversary. Her bae Gwydion Beynon is a producer who has stolen Masasa’s heart. She shot her shot and never looked back since.

However, by 2022, social media realized that things might not be as happy anymore following Masasa sharing a string of tweets on heartbreak.

Initially, she did not confirm nor did she deny her relationship ending. However, it seems that Masasa has finally gotten over her relationship as she can now joke about it.

Masasa Mbangeni talks about her breakup

Back in December 2022, it was reported that Masasa and Gywdion were over. The article at the time shared in part that:

According to Zimoja Lezinto, Masasa Mbangeni, and her boyfriend Gwydion Beynon are no longer an item, following a very sad break-up that has left Mbangeni in a very ‘traumatic’ state.

Taking to Twitter over the weekend, Masasa spoke about how living with your partner is not conducive to a long-term and happy relationship as she tweeted:

Seeing as she opened the door to the conversation, her followers then asked what happened to her own public relations. Seeing as her initial tweet had already highlighted the possible reason for their breakup, Masasa took the mickey out of the situation as she went on to joke about why their relationship ended.

Masasa Mbangeni opens up on her father’s passing

SAFTA-winning actress and the former Scandal star Masasa Mbangeni recently took to Twitter to open up about her father’s passing. The actress revealed that her father died of a broken heart following his retrenchment. She penned a lengthy Twitter thread encouraging people to show compassion for job seekers.

She wrote, “My father was unemployed after he had been retrenched and it broke his heart. He tried every day to secure work but there was none. He died of a broken heart. Don’t date unemployed people if your capacity for compassion is at negative none. Nisihleba kwiTshomi.

Who treats us badly because of your utterances. It’s not right. You have a right to your values and ideal. Pursue them with the same vigour used to abuse unemployed partners,” she tweeted. Fans have since reacted to Masasa’s Twitter thread and here are a few reactions.

This is not the first time the TV star opens up about losing a loved one on her social media platforms. She previously opened up about losing her cousin due to COVID 19. A cousin lost his battle with Covid this morning. Hayi guys andazi mna (I don’t know) anymore,” she tweeted.

Award-winning actress Masasa Mbangeni took to Twitter to open up about her past relationship.

She said she was in love with someone who called her ugly. Sharing her story, Masasa tweeted: ” I once dates someone who said that he wouldn’t want children with me because we are both ugly & he’s scared they would be too. I would be so far in life in I didn’t waste my time being attracted to men.”

Other women also took to the comments section to share their stories. Nitah said her ex-boyfriend wanted her to hit the gym.

Actress Masasa Mbangeni to star in new drama series Mzali Wam

Former “Scandal!” actress Masasa Mbangeni takes lead in the new drama “Mzali Wam,” which is set to premiere on on Monday, January 4, on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel, 161. The award-winning actress stars alongside “eHostela” actress Lungelo Mpangase and former “Generations” actor Dumisane Mbebe.

Mabangeni will play the role of Joyce, a woman whose child Ntokozo gets stolen at birth, only to later cross each other’s paths when a human trafficking syndicate that will shock Mzansi.

Mbebe will play Terror, a businessman who Joyce later discovers is not a person she thought he was.

Mpangase plays Ntokozo, a girl who gets entangled in an elaborate human trafficking ring involving her biological mother.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Mbangeni shared the exciting news with her fans, she wrote: “We worked really hard. I hope you all enjoy!”

The “Legacy” actress also shared the trailer and judging by the reactions on Twitter fans can’t wait for this thought provoking drama series.

Set in Johannesburg, “Mzali Wam”, was created by industry heavyweights Dineo Ranaka and Siphosethu Tshapu of Brains At Work Media production.

Commenting on the show, Ranaka says: “We are fortunate to be working with industry heavyweights such as Masasa and Mbebe to bring this drama series to life in a story that will hopefully contribute to the plight of human trafficking victims in a country where this crime has been a problem.”

Former Scandal Actress Masasa Mbangeni Makes Her Debut On The Legacy

Arguably one of Mzansi’s most talented and favourite actresses, Masasa Mbangeni continues to steal the hearts of the masses with her enthralling performances on screen.
Hot on the heels of her heartbreaking exit on Scandal, the actress has scored a new TV role. Masasa has been hyping Mzansi’s newest telenovela The Legacy on Twitter and some fans knew there was more than meets the eye.

The show airs on Mnet and Masasa portrays the role of a Journalist, Kwanele Losi. The Legacy is centered around wealthy people who live dysfunctional lives and it features a star-studded including the likes of former Isidingo villain Michelle Botes, Golden Horn Award winner for Best Supporting Actress Mary Anne Barlows, Anton Jeftha, Siyabonga Thwala, Kgomotso Christopher and Deon Lotz.

As she made her debut Masasa tweeted ” Suprise”, and fans took to the platform to congratulate her on the new character.

Masasa recently made her triumphant return on Scandal after exiting the show in 2016. Her return lasted for a couple of months until she was gunned down by Mthunzi. Her death left her legion of fans heartbroken and they soon flooded social media with posts, paying tribute to her and expressing how heavy their heart is following her death.

Speaking to Tshisalive Masasa explained that when she received a call to come back she was going through a lot emotionally.

“Returning to where I’d started my career really rattled me. A few months ago, I got a call from Scandal!, telling me they wanted to bring my old character back. To be quite honest, I had mixed emotions about it. So much about me had changed, and I wondered if going back would do the character any good, and how it would be perceived by the public.

During my last days at Scandal!, I was personally going through emotional turmoil. That, I suppose, assist in how I played the character. Therefore, I knew that how I approached Thembeka this time around would have to be different.”

During her break, Masasa juggled a couple of acting gigs, from theatre to TV. The Thespian also headed back to school to further her studies.

A few years back she told V-Entertainment that she will soon cut her teeth in directing, proving that she is a woman of many talents “Very soon I’m gonna take up an opportunity to direct a theatre play. It’s still in a very sensitive stage right now so I can’t really chat about it.”
