‘I would have kept you awake’: Girlfriend Rosa Onious on her last night with Jamie Bartlett

Late legendary South African actor, David Genaro aka Jamie Bartlett’s girlfriend Rosa Onious has taken to her social media to reflect on their last night together.

The 55-year-old died in his sleep from cardiac arrest a few days ago, and it left many shocked, especially his friends, as he partied with them the night before he passed on.

Taking to Instagram, his girlfriend, Rosa shared the last night they had together.

She shared some of the photos taken that night revealing she could give anything to go back to that same night.

Rosa wrote:

“This was literally the last night I spent with you. So happy,so In love and full of life, I would give anything to go back to this night again. Because if I knew it would have been our last night ever spent together I would have kept you awake, if I knew your heart would give in, I would have shared mine with you. What hurts the most is the fact that I will never be able to hold you,talk to you, hug you or kiss you like this ever again. It feels like my heart has been ripped out of my chest and it hurts so much. I have so much I need to talk to you about still. I am struggling to cope without you. Nothing makes sense anymore. I am devastated? and empty.”

Rosa reveals shrine in Jamie Bartlett’s honour

Legendary Rhythm City actor Jamie Bartlett‘s untimely death has left a gaping hole in the hearts of his loved ones.

Jamie died on 23 May after suffering a cardiac arrest, was laid to rest in a private funeral service at rest in a private funeral at St George’s Cathedral, in Cape Town, on 2 June.

His life and the impact he made on the acting fraternity was also celebrated with a public memorial service at Zone 6 Venue in Soweto on 6 June.

However, Jamie’s loved ones will be picking up the pieces of his death for a long time to come.

The actor’s life partner and manager, Rosa, who he was living with at the time of his death, shared touching images of a shrine she’s set up in his honour. The shrine includes a personalized candle with their picture on it and a frame containing some of Bartlett’s pictures.

At the memorial service earlier this week, Rosa struggled to fight back tears as she poured her heart out about the love they shared.

She said: “I will never forget the day I met Jamie, it still feels like yesterday. I usually don’t go to a guy’s house on the first date but he managed to convince me to come to his house for a date. I remember getting there and he was waiting in the middle of the road for my car, when my car stopped, he opened the door and held my hand. In that moment I knew I had found the one…I had found love.”

Rosa added that even though Jamie’s death has left her heartbroken, she was trying to understand “God’s plan”.

“I’m angry, I’m sad, but I’m trying to understand there’s a purpose for him wherever he is. A part of the house still smells like him and its difficult. I remember that morning Jamie passed, he told me he loved me and that he could never imagine life without me.”

Update on funeral and memorial service details of Jamie Bartlett

An official statement detailing actor Jamie Bartlett’s memorial and funeral service date has been released by the family on Tuesday.

The award-winning icon is to be buried on Thursday in Cape Town, and the memorial service will take place on Monday in Soweto.

“Jamie’s management will be holding a memorial service for all his loyal supporters and those who loved him,” said the family in a statement.

The 55-year-old died in his sleep from cardiac arrest on Monday, and it left many shocked, especially his friends, as he partied with them the night before he passed on.

Late Jamie Bartlett’s last wishes revealed

Legendary actor, Jamie Bartlett’s friend, and Rhythm City co-star Mpho Molepo has revealed that one of the things that the actor wanted to do was to open a food outlet in Soweto.

Molepo says the 55-year-old actor, who passed this Monday due to a cardiac arrest visited several chisanyama’s in the township to learn the business.

Jamie Bartlett’s colleague and friend Mpho Molepo – who acted alongside him in e.tv’s Rhythm City as Fats says the 55-year-old actor was “a cook of note”.

“He wanted to own a restaurant. So, I took him on this tour and he was happy. He enjoyed Soweto because he would tell me many times that he had breakfast at Vilakazi [Street, Orlando West].”

“Jamie wanted to do a lot, including a podcast and he was excited about it. He called me on Friday, telling me about his podcast and he wanted me to feature in it. I could not believe it when I got a call on Tuesday that he is no more.”

The Skeem Saam actor also describes Bartlett as a happy person who loved people.

“He was that kind of a guy. He hugged and kissed freely,” he tells a local publication.

Rosa Onious speaks on her boyfriend Jamie Bartlett’s last moments

South African actor Jamie Bartlett’s girlfriend Rosa Onious opened up about his last moments after he passed away on Monday 23 May.

Jamie Barlett’s girlfriend, 20-year-old Rosa Onious revealed that the former Rhythm City star died of a cardiac arrest in his sleep.

“We got the autopsy results, and they said it was cardiac arrest,” she said to a local publication.

She went on to say that he was taking an afternoon nap which he usually does on days he is not working. Onious said that she tried to wake him up around 17:00 so he could meet up with his boys but he did not wake up.

“I said Jamie, Jamie, [but] Jamie didn’t look up,” she continued, adding that she tried to nudge him to wake up once again.

“Jamie’s not waking up, he’s not waking up, and I called my mom, who was outside, and she tried everything,” she added.

Onious and her mom call the ambulance service which reportedly arrived in 15 minutes. She said that they tried everything to resuscitate him but it was too late.

“They tried everything to resuscitate him, CPR, everything, but it was too late,” she said.

Jamie made an appearance at the Lifestyle Brooklyn club in Pretoria alongside media personality Somizi Mhlongo. He was joined by Onious.

Onious shared a clip from their nightout on social media, hours before Jamie’s death on Monday 23 May. Jamie’s dance moves can be seen in the clip as well as Onious taking a sip of Moet champagne. Take a look…
