Bonang Matheba has inspired many as she shares her alcohol journey in a short video. The star revealed how her House of BNG is experiencing amazing growth within a year of establishing it.

In the beginning of the video she shared, Bonang was discussing with someone in 12th August, 2012 on how she sees herself holding a can of drink with her name written boldly on it.

Then immediately, the video switched to how what she said came into reality. Few weeks ago, Bonang launched her new can of the sparking wine, and it’s neatly packed in a box.

Well, this is how House of BNG Bonang is going and it is definitely not a stop for her yet. At the end of the video, Bonang quoted: “Never give up on your dream, as you never know where they might take you”

It’s fair to say that Bonang Matheba is no longer securing bags are securing her.

The latest addition to Queen B’s glittering CV is a partnership with the largest mobile network in Africa, MTN, on a new app perfectly titled Bonang Matheba’s World.

Bonang shared the news in a video announcement across her social media pages. “Excited to be joining the MTN Family…??? 780k strong, & counting…welcome to Bonang’s World…?? now available on Africa’s Largest Network,” she captioned the funky video announcement.

The app promises exclusive daily content and an Ask Me Anything section. She’s already very responsive to and interactive with fans on social media, so clearly she’s now stepping things up a notch. A queen never rests.

Come into my world, where you’ll get a sneak peek and all exclusive content,” the words dance across the screen in the video, as Queen B poses and dances in various wigs and looks, reminding us why she’s THE megastar.

Live it, love it, play it” is the app’s tagline. We’re sold. And so are Queen B’s fans, who have flooded her comments with heart emojis, fire emojis and declarations of their undying love and admiration for her (as well as claims that they will stick with the network purely to get access to Bonang content).

This is a clever move because since she’s made it clear that a new season of her hit reality show Being Bonang is unlikely (despite fans’ pleas), it feels like there’s been a big hole when it comes to a steady stream of content for Queen B fans. This new app will obviously solve that problem and possibly win Bonang some new fans – although who isn’t an admirer of the businesswoman and media queen?

Bonang Matheba Addressees SA’s GBV Crisis

Bonang Matheba has learnt to keep her political or polarizing views on social injustice issues to herself. Sometimes, she will surprise her masses by actually speaking out on a topical and grave matter on social media, but consistently she has made it part of the brand to let her silence do the talking.

Hence, imagine the surprise that the Twitter streets had when the entertainer and businesswoman finally did speak about gender-based violence (GBV), well kind of. The comment comes off the back of the criticism that some of our faves like Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Pearl Thusi and AKA had all gotten their more than their fair share of backlash from tweeps for allegedly being vocal about the continental crisis, but not local issues.

But because Bonang is currently the one that arguably reigns supreme in South African entertainment, when she spoke she received more love than backlash. Bonang was commenting on the topical story of popular nightclub, Black Door, being raided by the South African Police Service in the early hours of the morning. The raid was due to the club having failed to concede to level 1 restrictions and allegedly failing to produce a liquor license.

Bonang Matheba Addressees SA’s GBV Crisis
The raid was a full on media punt with the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, and other top government officials present for the raid. During the lockdown in South Africa the SAPS, led by Bheki Cele have had a no-nonsense stance on alcohol. And during the early stages of the local in Mzansi, there were stringent rules that governed alcohol and cigarettes. An energy that was and is not as equally invested in fighting the serious and erosive matter of GBV.

So in a series of tweets, Bonang joined the social media discourse of South Africa’s misplaced focus on issues like alcohol and curfews, versus the lack of efforts taken to curb very serious issues like GBV and human trafficking. Currently, South Africa is placed as one of the hotspots of human trafficking in the world. However, the government has not said a word on the matter, let alone has the police shown concerted effort in attempting to address the matter.

Moreover, with a host of local celebrities speaking on the Nigeria and Congo situations, the government has not shared any word on the matter. To make matters worse, South Africa’s President is also the Chairperson of the African Union but still no word from his office.

Bonang Matheba Makes A Return To Miss South Africa

Bonang Matheba has bid goodbye to hosting the Miss South Africa pageant following two years of fronting the most popular pageant in the country. The star has always known when to let go and move on to greater heights as her last stint as the host was on the crowning of now Miss Universe 2019, Zozibini Tunzi.

The pageant announced that taking over the reins to host this year’s Miss South Africa is much-beloved actress, host, and philanthropist Nomzamo Mbatha. The beloved South African export set to feature on the coming sequel of Eddie Murphy’s iconic film, “Coming to America;” “Coming 2 America,” has a tough journey ahead of her.

Bonang Matheba Makes A Return To Miss South Africa

The Miss South Africa pageant this year has had been under the spotlight and has rarely been for good reasons. The pageant has been faced with scandal after scandal. First, it was the pageant hopefuls that were either linked to prejudice or just plain out racism, to other hopefuls being purely just know-it-alls that are willing to infringe on the rights of privacy of staff members having lunch together during the pandemic.

When that matter was over and the final contestants were chosen and many believed that the drama was over. The pageant said, “Ha a- Don’t you dare.” The pageant first made South Africans pay to vote for their favorite contestants to win. The pageant cpreated a package which was charged at R20.00 for one vote or R100.00 for 25 votes. As if that was not enough, the pageant has announced that the pageant will be hosted virtually, with an e-ticket available to view the show virtually charged at R99.99 for the full package.

Firstly, many were just surprised that they were going to charge viewers to view the show. However, the pageant has confirmed that an alternative is watching the festivities on Mzansi Magic as it has become traditional. Moreover, people were just shocked by the hidden cost considering that there is a pandemic that resulted in a lockdown that has ensured that close to half of the country’s population is unemployed- So, where would people get the money or data?

But there are little victories like Bonang Matheba’s comeback. Although not as a host of the pageant, the Queen’s and South Africa’s favorite Woolworth “bev,” House of BNG, makes its come back as the official celebratory sponsor for the festivities. This marks the second year in a row that House of BNG does the things.
