Actress and businesswoman Sophie Ndaba is venturing into radio.

She recently joined the newly revamped Radio BOP, where she will host a lifestyle show every Saturday.

Sophie revealed she has always wanted to pursue a career in radio, but the opportunity never presented itself.

“Whenever I was invited to shows, I always saw myself behind the mic. I was really excited when I was approached for a slot at the station.

“I guess it was all about timing and I cannot wait for everyone to listen to the show as they are going to love it,” she said.

Sophie said her show will uplift women.

“I believe knowledge is power, and the show is going to help a lot of people as it will focus on health, beauty and business.

“To be honest, I did not want to turn the show into another regular show which will bore people.

“So when you listen, you will hear it’s different and does not follow the same format as other radio shows,” she said.

She said that she wanted the show to be interactive and fun.

Sophie said she saw herself doing radio for a long time.

“Radio is a great form of communication and I believe with my expertise and knowledge, people have a lot to gain, which is why I said yes to this gig in the first place.

“If this opportunity ends anytime soon, I will definitely continue with radio and find other ways to make it work,” she said.

Sophie, who recently made her producing debut on SABC1’s drama series Family Secrets, said she enjoyed being behind the scenes.

“Being a producer on the show has been amazing and I’m making sure the story goes to another level, is told correctly and continues to do well.

“The new season is bigger, better and has a lot of cliffhangers which will leave people at the edge of their seats,” she said.

Trouble in paradise: Actress Sophie Ndaba and Max Lichaba break up as husband cheats

Legendary television actress Sophie Ndaba’s marriage to husband and businessman Max Lichaba is headed for splitsville just a month after they renewed their vows.

A local publication has learnt that Ndaba and Lichaba separated last year just after the outbreak of Covid-19 in March.

The disintegration of their much-publicized union happened after they renewed their vows and wore new weddings bands in February last year.

The two lovebirds are allegedly heading for divorce after trying unsuccessfully to sort out their differences and rekindle their love. If this faltering matrimony crumbles, it will be Ndaba’s third failed marriage in 23 years.

Ndaba, who shot to stardom when she played Queen Moroka in SABC1 soapie Generations, was married to fellow actor Themba Ndaba, who plays Brutus in The Queen, in 1998. The couple divorced in 2007.

She later tied the knot with Bishop Keith Harrington in 2011 and they broke up acrimoniously in 2013. She wedded Lichaba in 2018.

News of Ndaba and Lichaba’s separation, which was kept hush hush, was revealed by the couple’s close friend, who did not want to be named for fear of victimization.

News of Ndaba and Lichaba’s separation, which was kept hush hush, was revealed by the couple’s close friend, who did not want to be named for fear of victimisation.

The friend alleged that Lichaba has moved out of their rented house in Joburg and relocated back to his hometown in Kimberley, Northern Cape, while the popular thespian has moved back to her estate house, west of Joburg.

The friend alleged that the couple drifted apart after Ndaba accused Lichaba of cheating on her with a woman from Kimberley, who is known to Sunday World.

“She said she discovered that he was cheating on her with that woman and when she confronted him, he denied knowing this woman. But she felt that the man was making a fool of her,” said the friend.

The friend added that the alleged mistress had said to Ndaba, when she confronted her about the affair, that Lichaba had told her that they are in the process of divorcing.

Ndaba said: “I have no comment. And to be honest, I don’t comment on my private life.”

The alleged concubine refuted the allegations that she was involved in an adulterous affair with Lichaba. “I don’t know what you are talking about,” she said. Lichaba refuted claims that his marriage has crumbled. “There’s no such thing,” he said.

Things haven’t been going well for Mzansi’s legendary actress, Sophie Lichaba who has been battling illness in recent years – and now has got her car repossessed.

Papers from the high court indicate that the former Generations actress’s bank asked the court to repossess one of her cars, a Hyundai Mighty workhorse.

Sophie had bought the car for her company, Sophla Tranding (PTY) Ltd.

But due to some money she owed her creditors, the bank filed papers at the high court asking to get repaid through holding one of her cars.

The former Generations actress Sophie owed her creditors more than R685 000 by means of surety for the principal debt which was given to her back in 2015.

“The principal debt would be financed at a vehicle interest rate of 13,75% linked by a margin of 4.5%.

The total collectable amount would be payable by the first respondent to the applicant in 72 instalments as follows: First instalments in the amount of R9 742.43 on 07 April 2015, 70 monthly instalments in the amount of R9 514.43 commencing on 07 May 2015. The final instalment in the amount of R9 514.43 on 07 March 2021.

The vehicle purchased with the loan belongs to the applicant until the first respondent has settled all the financial obligations towards the applicant. Provided the first respondent is not in default, the first respondent is entitled to possession and use of the vehicle.

When the first respondent has settled all its financial obligations to the applicant, the applicant will transfer ownership of the vehicle to the first respondent,” part of the court documents reads.

Sophie Ndaba-Lichaba has not publicly reacted to the developments.
