POPULAR actress Ayanda Borotho has warned parents about an evil cartoon called Huggy Wuggy.

She claimed that the cartoon, on YouTube, was telling children to cut and kill themselves, and warned parents to be careful and monitor their kids.

The Wounds actress posted a screenshot of the warning, that read: “Parents, please be on the lookout for this character called Huggy Wuggy. I literally caught my daughter watching this thing telling her to cut and kill herself. I broke her phone out of shock and disabled YouTube from all out TVs. It’s so scary that kids are not safe from this messed-up world.”

Ayanda asked people to share the post to other parents, adding that this was demonic.

“Please spread this to parents and guardians. Please check what your kids are watching on YouTube. I checked this out myself, after my sister-in-law alerted me to it. You honestly don’t want your kids watching this thing. It’s disguised as a cartoon but it’s actually just plain demonic,” she wrote.

Her followers and fellow actors went on to thank her for the warning.

Winnie Ntshaba wrote: “Thank you Ndlovukazi, my goodness, I just had goosebumps ngoba my son and YouTube these days… I’m on it immediately.”

Then Connie Chiume added: “Yho, thank you Ayanda. So much evil around us.”

Botyl Makeupartist added: “Oh my goodness, my son has been having nightmares and the older brother said it was because of this character. I literally banned him from watching YouTube because I can’t control what content he consumes,” she wrote.

People have been warning other parents against this cartoon on different social media platforms, too.

Mzansi actress and former model Ayanda Borotho has warned parents to be vigilant about the content their kids consume on Youtube.

The actress, who is best known for playing the title role in the SABC 1 sitcom Nomzamo and Phumelele Zungu on Isibaya, warned of the dangers caused by some of the content on Youtube.

Ayanda revealed that some of the content on Youtube poses dangers to young kids and has demonic influences. She shared concerns about a character called Huggy Wuggy, whose viral videos are very popular.

Posting on photo-sharing social media platform, Ayanda Borotho wrote,

“Please spread this to parents and guardians. Please check what your kids are watching on YouTube. I checked this out myself after my sister in law alerted me to it. You honestly don’t want your kids watching this thing. It’s disguised as a cartoon, but it’s actually just plain demonic.”

She then posted a picture of Huggy Wuggy and a warning written by another apparently concerned parent. The unidentified parent wrote,

“Parents please be on the lookout for this character called huggy wuggy. (Something like that) I literally caught my daughter watching this thing telling her to cut herself and kill herself. I broke her phone out of shock and disabled YouTube from all our tvs (mind you I have a age restriction on all the devices). Its so scary that kids aren’t safe from this messed up world.”

According to Sky News, in the United Kingdom, parents have been warned to be extra vigilant over Huggy Wuggy’s viral videos.

A terrified parent, Beth Buxton, 31, told Sky News her 3-year-old son used to watch videos of Huggy Wuggy online with her two daughters. Buxton said,

“He got to the stage where he didn’t know the difference between reality and gaming. He tried to climb up my bedroom window, saying he would die and come back to life, telling me that’s what Huggy Wuggy does.

“We have banned Roblox and put locks on YouTube. I have window locks being installed next week because he is still thinking about it. There are numerous terrifying characters in these games.

“He was going into school talking about killing and guns as if it was happening at home.”

West View Primary School in Hartlepool, England, also warned parents to monitor their children when on Youtube due to the dangers of characters like Huggy Wuggy.

The school expressed concern over the character who “sings worrying songs about hugging and killing”.

It said: “In one of the videos, the bear asks the viewer to take their last breath. It is a very deceiving character, as hugs should be seen as something kind and love and because of its name is able to infiltrate firewalls and filters.”

Chris Conroy, a cyber protect officer for Dorset Police also said:

“There are videos people have made, songs people have made, and it’s popping up all over YouTube and TikTok using this quite graphic imagery of this bear-like character with razor-sharp teeth. It’s based around jump scares and things you certainly wouldn’t want children exposed to.”

Popupar actress Ayanda Borotho has spoken up for abuse victims, who are often accused of lying.

The former Isibaya actress said people must stop invalidating others’ experiences and pain.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, 22 August, Ayanda said people have the tendency of not believing others about their experiences when they did not have proof.

“The fact that a woman and the justice system are unable to prove in court that she was violated, raped or beaten does not automatically mean she’s lying. It means there was not enough evidence. Please understand that. Insufficient evidence does not prove that it did not happen,” she said.

Ayanda said abuse did not usually happen in public places, which meant that there would usually be no witnesses.

“People don’t rape or violate in the presence of others. The chances of having witnesses who are key to justice being served are next to none – sperm dries out, less evidence, bruises fade,” she wrote.

She said that people should stop wanting evidence to be dead bodies.

“We cannot be a nation that only accepts the evidence of dead bodies. Let us stop invalidating people’s experiences and pain just because we don’t see the scars on their souls.”

The Real Housewives of Johannesburg personality, Olwethu Leshabane, said that the law did not serve justice, which made her angry.

“The sad reality is that our law is not humanity and does not serve justice – it is about power. Legalities are power. They have nothing to do with justice. Abusers use their power to cast doubt on victims until it is proven without reasonable doubt, in most cases, death. I get so angry just thinking about this,” wrote

The star opened up about how difficult it has been for her to come to terms of her passing. “The past 2 weeks since your passing have been a nightmare. Like the storm you were, you came into my life like thunder and then left like lightening with endless rain.”

Although she didn’t get into the details of her passing, judging by her post, her friend’s passing was unforeseen.

“How you left has broken me. Indeed you were tired but being robbed of your light is a true crime. I pray you find peace my F (as you so affectionately called me). Had I known that last text you sent the morning of the afternoon you passed was your last, I may have done better. I have consoled myself with the knowledge that you tried to escape, even though love kept taking you back. And then it finally took you. Go Sbahle, take care of your last born. She couldn’t be without her mommy.”
