AFTER many calls by the fans of the show, this coming Sunday award-winning musician Kelly Khumalo will be part of Idols SA.

The songstress, who has become a household name in Mzansi, will be a guest judge on the show joining resident judges Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams.

According to Idols SA, they chose Kelly, who they described as unpredictable, because of her amazing track record as a musician which makes her a fitting guest judge for Idols SA.

“Kelly Khumalo has never been someone who can be described as ‘predictable’. What we do know is that she has plenty of advice to give, and we can’t wait to see what it will be,” the Idols SA statement read.

Last week, the show had actor and presenter Khaya Dladla as a judge. He impressed viewers, who pleaded with the creators of the show to keep him permanently.

The rotation of guest judges comes after the show put judge Somizi Mhlongo on ice following abuse allegations that were levelled against him by his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung.

Previously, stars like Lady Du, Prince Kaybee and Oskido appeared on the show as guest judges.

Season 17 of Idols SA broadcasts on Sundays at 5pm on Mzansi Magic (DSTV channel 161).

THE year 2021 might have been one from hell for most artists.

But for award-winning gospel artist and TV presenter Qhamisa Mpayipheli, it has been full of blessings.

Qhamisa scooped the Best Female Artist award at the Independent National Gospel Music Awards, popularly known as Ingoma Awards.

She walked away with the coveted award at a glittering event held at House of Treasures Ministries at the weekend.

The singer shed some tears of joy when Daily Sun approached her to congratulate her.

She said God’s been “wonderful” to her, despite all the challenges she had faced since 2020 when Covid-19 struck.

Besides her success at the awards, Qhamisa also revealed some more big news.

“On 28 November, I will be ordained as a prophet. All those who know me are aware of this gift that I have avoided for a long time. And everyone close to me has benefited from my gift.

“It’s a gift I have been sceptical to take on officially because of the many things that have been said about prophets,” she said.

However, the soft-spoken artist said she was convinced in her spirit that now was the right time to finally wear her garments and be the prophetic gospel artist she was called to be.

On her Ingoma triumph, Qhamisa said: “I give God the glory for everything.

“This achievement means the hard work I have been doing in the industry is getting recognition, and that people believe in my brand.”

The singer is currently busy promoting her latest album titled Ndamemeza kuThixo.

The new season of her show Melodi on Dumisa TV is also set to hit the screens soon.

Local rapper Gigi Lamayne joined reality TV show “Temptation Island SA” in the hopes of finding love, but that was not to be the case.

In episode nine of the dating-themed reality show saw feisty Gigi abruptly leave the villa due to personal reasons.

In a statement sent to IOL Entertainment, Gigi said that if she didn’t have to leave the villa, she would have made it to the end.

“I do believe that I would’ve made it right to the end of the show, just based on the fact that Sifiso and I did have a strong connection.

“But again, that’s on him to say. Had it not been because of my reasons, I believe I could’ve stuck around for a while,” she said.

Although she did not find love, Gigi said she would not change anything she did while on the show.

“I would not change anything. This was an amazing experience for me and I think we [single women/guys] should be very proud for being the ones who were selected to test true love.

“True love doesn’t happen often, and I think we should applaud ourselves for the role we played.

“It might sound crazy, but I do believe that we were part of a greater purpose, to determine whether people were able to stick together regardless of the temptation that stood before them,” she said.

“But wait, maybe there is something I would like to do differently. I would like to come back to ’Temptation Island’ with my partner.

“If you and your partner can make it through this type of temptation, then I believe the relationship can overcome any other form of adversity,” she added.Although she did not find love, Gigi said she would not change anything she did while on the show.
