Muvhango Actress Opens Up About Past Trauma
Popularly known for her role on SABC 2’s popular soapie Muvhango, Suzan Ravuku has opened up about the bullying that she suffered for the longest time.
Pouring her heart out to Daily Sun, Susan told the publication that she used to be bullied because of the colour of her skin at school.
she said she discovered that her kids are also going through the same thing.
“Sadly I learnt in 2016 that my kids are also being bullied for their skin colour. I got so emotional and realised we are living in a socially ill society that must be educated because there are people who can’t stand up for themselves. Bullying is a poison that kills someone slowly on the inside”
Suzan said she has started an organisation that represents the youth.
“I started an organisation called Vhembe Youth Programme where we go out to different communities to speak to traditional leaders and other authorities on behalf of the youth.”
Meanwhile, TV director and DJ Olwee took to Twitter to address harassment. He said someone continued grabbing his hair even after he told them to stop.
“It’ll never not be weird to me when people from here on the TL are part of conversations about consent and boundaries then at groove will meet you and not behave that way at all. Again, someone exactly from here continued to grab my hair even after I said stop. It’s weird.
“And I’ll continue to sound off until everyone completely stops. There are people we tweet amongst here, who come and touch my hair while saying they know I don’t like it and that’s why they’re doing it. And laugh. People who’ll come here at the forefront of chats on violations,” he tweeted.
Here are some of the reactions.
“You must reach a point where ufaka umuntu isbhakela Olwethu because they doing it on purpose now”
