The South African Music Awards (Samas) have confirmed that the award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 18 November.

This after there was confusion as to whether or not the awards would take place.

They released a statement reassuring people that the awards would go as planned. However, they did not reveal the venue.

They also announced the last round of nominees for the Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year categories.

The late AKA and K.O are now tied with seven nominations each.

AKA just added Record of The Year for his single Lemons (Lemonade) featuring Nasty C. He’s also nominated for Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Engineered Album, Best Collaboration (for the single Lemons (Lemonade) featuring Nasty C), Best Collaboration (for the single Company featuring Kiddominant), and Best Produced Music Video (for Lemons (Lemonade) featuring Nasty C.

K.O, on the other hand, is nominated for both Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year for his song, Sete featuring Blxckie and Young Stunna. He’s also nominated for Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Produced Music Video and Remix of the Year for Sete featuring Young Stunna, Oxlade and Diamond Platnumz.

Other nominees for Record of The Year include Sofa Silahlane by Wanitwa Mos, Master KG and Lowsheen featuring Nkosazana Daughter; Dali Nguwe by Wanitwa Mos and Master KG feat Nkosazana Daughter, Basetsana and Obeey Amor, Soft Life by Nomfundo Moh, Hamba Wena by Deep London and Boohle and Stimela by 2Point1 featuring Ntate Stunna and Nthabi Sings and others.

Some of the songs nominated for Music Video of The Year award are Paris by Q-Mark and TpZee featuring Afrikan Papi, Big Flexa by Costa Titch feat C’buda M, Alfa Kat, Banaba Des, Sdida & Man T, Hamba Wena by Deep London and Boohle; uMlando by 9umba, TOSS and Mdoovar feat Sir Trill, Sino Msolo, Lady Du, Young Stunna and Slade and many others.

RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi congratulated the nominees.

“Congratulations to the nominees of Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year awards. We urge the public to make their voice heard by voting for their favourites in those categories. It is a competitive line up and may the best win,” he said.
