This picture always makes me sad because I know what happened to these kids,” she said. “It was my brother’s first birthday and the first anniversary of our mother’s” death. These kids faced such hardship. These kids live with many scars and are still fighting,” she added.

The multi-award-winning singer referred to as King Tha has in the past recalled the day her mother, Belede Mazwai, died at 33 in 1992 died when she was only 16 years old. “I was never the same, but I am thankful for the lessons and the very visceral feeling that God and my ancestors are with me,” she shared. In 2016, Thandiswa dedicated her album titled, Belede, to her mom. In promoting the project, she described her mother as, “A rebel to the core,” she said. “She was super stylish and super smart! Responding to this, Thandiswa mentioned she has no one hitting on her.

The musician said no one has hit on her in the past 15 years but women do smile at her. She even boldly claimed that she was not sharing the side of the bed with anyone.

Thandiswa Mazwai has taken to her social media to praise the European countries for assisting certain SA jazz musicians with Covid-19 relief funds. Covid-19 hit the world so hard that a lot of SA celebrities struggled really hard so as to get more incomes.

In a series of tweets, the Nizalwa Ngobani hitmaker said some European governments were paying jazz musicians a Covid-19 grant every month, funding she and her band only received once in SA.

Thandiswa however, went on to reveal that she and staff only received R20,000 from the Covid-19 relief fund even though they had to just get some groceries with it in April.

She expressed gratitude to countries willing to help musicians during the pandemic, saying at least those artists are not losing their minds worrying about money.
