South African rapper Boity Thulo has come under fire for the outrageous prices her newly launched alcohol sells for in the market.
The ‘4436’ hitmaker recently followed in the footsteps of many of her celebrity colleagues in the alcohol industry when she launched her own alcoholic drink called the BT Signature.

Announcing the move last month, she posted a photo of herself sipping on her BT Signature and a few photos of the beverage with the caption:

“We are our ancestors wildest dreams. Introducing the new kid on the block #BTSignature. Get yourself a bottle of BT Signature at all. it’s peachy, it’s sparkling, it’s oh so tasty, and we’ve got a nan alcoholic version too for the next four days.”

“What a time to be alive! I am so honored to introduce you to y’all, my new baby! Introducing our new favorite drink. #BTSignature is about to bring peach fun to every occasion. And it’s brought to you by yours truly,” she added.

However, Twitter users were shocked to learn the prices of her products and quickly called her out.

@Huupo tweeted: “Boity called us unemployed roaches and now she expects us to buy a 24 pack of nonalcoholic drinks ka 600? Lmao what kind of drugs do these celebrities smoke?”

@Youtuber Nomaswazi tweeted: “Boity’s one is coming off a bit weird. She’s outpriced herself from her competitors and is selling BT at Shoprite which isn’t for premium consumers. The best celebrity drink is Bonang’s sparkling wine can. Fresh packaging, the drink slaps and is the same price as a sparkling wine.”

Boity said since 2016 she had been training to become a traditional healer, answering her ancestral calling and that it was a beautiful gift.

The ancestral journey is a personal one and rapper and businesswoman Boity Thulo has shared her journey from the beginning.

She has said that since 2016 that she had been training to become a traditional healer, answering her ancestral calling and that it was a beautiful gift.

Speaking to Glamour magazine in April, the reality star said her spiritual journey was not for publicity to boost her career. She said at the time she had no intentions of practising as a sangoma but she was doing thwasa (initiation to becoming a sangoma).

Thulo said her journey was a personal one and wouldn’t go into the details, but thanked her fans for their support and words of inspiration.

She now has an ancestral name, announcing on Twitter: “You can officially refer to me as Gogo Nomakhwezi. Thokozani. It’s as though my soul just burst open in the most incredible way!”

Some people wondered why she had chosen a Zulu/Xhosa name as her family are Setswana.

A spiritually inclined South African who spoke on condition of anonymity explained the ancestral name is personal, saying that person is the only one who knows why the name was chosen.

“Usually when people who have accepted their ancestral calling, the name comes from the ancestor who gifted them the power. Possibly if it’s from their grandmother or female figure in the family they would call themselves Gogo, if a male figure gave them the power, they would refer to themselves as Mkhulu.”

Boity clarified the confusion about why she used a Xhosa name: ” Both my maternal and paternal grandmothers are Xhosa. Not y’all assuming I only have Batswana (Which are mainly Khoi) ancestors. How? I have wild lineage. ONE NAME is not a representative of all my Dlozis.”

Rapper Boity has responded to the hilarious digs at her after congratulating ex-boyfriend Cassper Nyovest on the birth of his first child, Khotso with Thobeka Majozi.

When Cassper announced that his son Khotso has finally arrived, celebrities, friends and fans flooded his timeline with well wishes.

“This album means sooo much more and it makes sooo much sense now that my son, Khotso is here,” announced Cass.

One of the people to share his excitement was ex-girlfriend Boity Thulo who wrote, “Congratulations, Papa! May God bless your beautiful family,” she said with a few more emojis.

The responses were amusing to the Own Your Throne hitmaker, as she wrote “I just knew it. You guys are so annoying,” she said laughing off the trolling.

This is not the first time she has endured such from social media trolls. When Cassper announced that he is going to become a father, Boity congratulated him and soon after, she trended for just merely wishing him well.

“I’m going to be a father Any Minute Now so I decided 2 name my album #AMN (Any Minute Now). The album cover is an actual scan of my son in his beautiful mother’s womb. Excited about this album but I’m more excited about being a dad to a beautiful baby boy,” announced Cassper.

Boity reacted by saying it is beautiful, and soon after caught some heat with many bringing up the fact that she also wants to be a mother.

Most of her fans cannot seem to figure out why would she be filled with envy as some trolls suggest as she is winning in every angles. She has just launched her highly praised ‘Pink Sapphire’ fragrance and has also bagged her banging body that she has worked hard to get back.

This year has been bitter-sweet for Mufasa but the birth of his little ‘Simba’ and the success of his album Any Minute Now, he has a lot to be thankful for. Earlier on in the year, he had previously revealed that his step-father had passed on, with many people thinking he was referring to his biological father. Cassper even shared a video revealing that his step-father’s grave was very close to Jabulani “HHP” Tsambo the late Hip Hop icons, who was his close friend and mentor.

Fans can expect to see Cassper as the first guest on Pearl Thusi’s Behind The Story on BET Africa on Wednesday.
