Ntsiki Mazwai: ‘Jerusalema Is Nomcebo’s song Featuring Master KG’

Ntsiki Mazwai has done it again and managed to drive conversation following supporting an inflammatory statement about the alleged lack of recognition that Nomcebo Zikode gets.

Ntsiki Mazwai: ‘Jerusalema Is Nomcebo’s song Featuring Master KG’

It all started when respected activist, Beverley Palesa Ditsie, took to Twitter and suggested that there is an “erasure of black women.” To prove her point she suggested that that was the case with the mega-hit, “Jerusalema,” by Master KG, featuring Nomcebo Zikode. She alleged that Nomcebo does not get celebrated as much as Master KG and that it should “Jerusalema” by Nomcebo Zikode, featuring Master KG because she wrote and sung the lyrics.

Mamiya first supported the statement and stirred the pot when she continued on the tangent by discussing equity. Ntsiki suggested that Nomcebo should get equal pay as Master KG from the song considering that she wrote the lyrics and sung the song. Ntsiki could not resist adding some classic shade by suggesting that if Nomcebo does not get a 50% share, then Master KG should pay her like a “session artist.” The supposition is that the song would not have been as big as it is if it were different- probably male vocalist- had been the vocalist and songwriter.

Many have questioned the part where Ntsiki and Dr Beverly categorically state that Nomcebo is not acknowledged for her contributions. Rarely did you ever see that when Jerusalema is acknowledged, especially by local outlets and publications that Nomcebo Zikokde is not acknowledged for her contribution to making that song a hit. Moreover, Master KG has continued to promote, tag and endorse the musical efforts of Nomcebo. Master KG has been conscious to always either tag or hashtag Nomcebo when Jerusalema achieves another milestone.

Ntsiki Mazwai has once again ruffled feathers on social media with her ‘straight-talk,’ ‘sharp-shooter’ personality always taking centre stage. The poet is trending once again for starting the natural hair vs weaves debate on social media and the name-calling began. It was just another regular day for Ntsiki who posed the question, “Why are black women finding it so hard to admit that they lack confidence in their own hair…And wigs make them feel prettier?”

Just hours later, she found herself topping the trends list, trending in the top three to be exact, for her weave debate and encouraging women to hone their natural African hair and beauty.

Ntsiki is not a huge fan of anything non-African and has always been an activist who uses her social media to preach her truth. She spoke about how she has always been ridiculed by other women who call her broke for not owning a weave.

“Black women used to say I’m broke cos I don’t wear a weave…Now they are saying natural hair is expensive. If you get told that you are ugly for long enough, you start to believe it”

Ntsiki never holds back her words, she proved this in a tweet which says, “If wigs enhance your beauty then white people dressed as clowns must be really attractive.

“The weave ADDICTION is no different from a drug ADDICTION. Even a bride in full tradition will ruin the whole look with a weave sembi kengoku mtshakazi,” she added.

After receiving backlash she clarified her stance and informed people what her intentions are when it comes to social media saying “Twitter is my office.”

“I’m not on social media to post pics and brag… I’m here to stir dialogue. My twitter account has ALWAYS been about spiritual WORK. Always. Twitter is my office where I use words to stir debate and dialogue in my community.”

The artist also slammed men who are very vocal when it comes to women’s appearance however remain, mum, when it comes to issues of Gender-Based Violence and femicide, she also told them “If the shoe fits…Don’t blame me.”

“Men have more opinions on black women’s hair than GBV… I have an idea, Why don’t the men shut up for this conversation until they have stopped raping and killing women,” she tweeted.

Ntsiki Mazwai feels she is a perfect candidate for a political leader

The controversial poet and a writer, then become a “musician” and business owner of her bead accessory company and academic, is ready for a new challenge. The star took to her favourite platform to share her musing about venturing into politics if her latest tweet is anything to go by.

Ntsiki Mazwai feels she is a perfect candidate for a political leader

The suggestion started where most of Ntsiki Mazwai’s proclamations on the app always start; with shade and a drag. But this time it was not against her fave, Bonang Matheba, but the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and their latest protest action against Clicks over the racist advert on their website. Ntsiki claimed that the political party is only now riding a wave about natural hair, which she championed before it was popular to do so.

The tea was met with many agreeable posts from tweeps that agreed with the star. Say what you want about the allegations on Mamiya’s hygiene, but clearly tweeps could agree that baby girl has been a champion of natural, but dyed, hair. But it was when she responded to a follower that suggested that she should be elected as “Minister of Natural Hair,” but Ntsiki wanted more suggesting a position as “Commander of the Women’s Movement.”

Ntsiki Mazwai fully supports Lady Zamar

Men in entertainment are most likely to rape because they are used to female attention and don’t understand when a woman says no… They are not used to no so they just take what they think they deserve. WAKE UP!” she exclaimed.

As a rape victim herself, she dragged the justice system in the country where a female who had been raped has to apparently prove it.

As a victim of rape…I need rape to be addressed in South Africa. Too many of us are getting raped. The system is designed in a way that a victim of rape has to convince the judge that she was raped….. Cabanga nje. What filth is that???” she wrote.

When it comes to the female rape apologists she had no filter and called them bitter.

“Some of you ladies are still sore from your rapist and directing your anger at Lady Zamar because her rape is getting attention and not yours… You’re bitter,” she said. Her rant got her topping the trends list and sis was not afraid of using the block button on anyone who is “team Sjava.”

Ntsiki Mazwai at War with Julius Malema over Women’s Day Address

Ntsiki Mazwai has problematized the matter of Economic Freedom Fighter, Commander-In-Chief, Julius Malema spearheading the National Women’s Day address.

The outspoken poet and controversial Twaleb asked why a man that allegedly stated that women enjoy being raped was tasked with giving a keynote address directed at women.

Ntsiki did not drag Julius Malema, but the most prominent female executive members of the party, Leigh Mathys and Naledi Chiriwa.

The post was in line with Ntsiki’s own Women’s Day address that was posted on her YouTube channel. The address questioned why men like Julius Malema and President Cyril Ramaphosa were leading addresses during a female-centred holiday, especially considering their own sordid pasts on victimizing women.

Her questioning was supported by her following and EFF members that agreed that is was nonsensical that men lead the discussion over women’s bodies and rights. Tweeps that attempted to defend Julius Malema faced the wrath of Ntsiki Mazwai.
