Nick, 42, shared videos from both shoots on his Instagram Story. He also reposted an image of his ex Mariah Carey performing onstage with their daughter Monroe, 11, as well as a holiday photo of son Rise Messiah Cannon, 2 months, shared by the infant’s mom, Brittany Bell.

Nick Cannon Shares Why Son Zen Didn’t Go Through Chemotherapy

Nick Cannon is looking back on a difficult decision he made for his late son. The TV host recently reflected on the death of his and Alyssa Scott’s baby boy Zen, who passed away at just 5-months-old due to a brain tumor in 2021. As Nick has now explained, Zen did not go through chemotherapy after doctors offered it—for a few reasons.

“They pretty much told me that best case scenario, your son could live to 3 or 4 years old,” Nick recalled during the Dec. 12 episode of The Checkup with Dr. David Agus, per People. “So instantly when I heard that, I thought, quality of life. I wanted him to have the best existence he could have.”

The 42-year-old, who has himself been through chemotherapy to treat lupus, had a personal idea of what the treatment would be like for Zen—who had to undergo a few procedures, such as having a shunt installed to drain fluid from his brain
Seeing your son hooked up to all of those machines—and he had to go for a shunt two or three times, and that was heartbreaking every time—even in that short amount of time, I couldn’t imagine him having to go through chemo,” Nick said. “I knew how as a full grown man, that process. I wouldn’t even call it pain. It just sucked everything out of you. I couldn’t imagine that on a newborn and what that would do.”

Nick also had concerns about how Zen’s days would be spent having to “live in the hospital” if they chose to move forward with the treatment. Nick noted, “He would have never gone home.”
In December 2021, the comedian revealed during an episode of The Nick Cannon Show that Zen had passed away on Dec. 5, 2021. At the time, Nick detailed their final moments together, recalling holding Zen “for the last time” while by the ocean with Alyssa.

One year after his death, Nick honored the first anniversary of Zen’s passing by sharing thoughts on what he called the “toughest day” of his life.

“Losing a child has to be the heaviest, most dark and depressive experiences that I will never get over,” Nick wrote on Instagram Dec. 5. “A mixture of guilt, pain, and sorrow is what I suppress daily. I love hard, I love big and I love with my entire Heart and Soul and I just wish my Little Man could’ve felt more of that love while he was here on Earth.”

Alyssa and Nick are currently expecting their second child together—the star’s 12th. He also shares 11-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey; 5-year-old son Golden “Sagon,” 23-month-old daughter Powerful Queen and 2-month-old son Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell; 18-month-old twin sons Zion and Zillion and newborn daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; 5-month-old son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi and 3-month-old daughter Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole.

Nick Cannon is sharing an update from his hospital bed. The Masked Singer host explained that he’s getting medical care after coming down with pneumonia.

“Okay, so I guess I’m not Superman,” he wrote on Instagram Dec. 2. “I promised myself I would never be back at this place again… But this is a great lesson to take care of YOU or YOU won’t be able to take care of everyone else.

Nick let fans know there’s no need to send “well wishes or prayers,” as “it’s just pneumonia, nothing I can’t handle. Don’t trip,” the 42-year-old said, noting he only needs “some solid rest and I will be back on the journey to becoming stronger than ever.”

“Crazy thing is, last night we was just rocking a sold out crowd at Madison square garden in front of thousands of fans, now I’m all alone in a tiny hospital room,” he wrote in his post. “Life is definitely a rollercoaster
The comedian—who has his 12th child on the way—shared photos of himself in a beanie and face mask from his hospital bed, adding the hashtag #LupusWarrior.
Nick has been open about his struggle with lupus over the last 10 years. In 2012, he was hospitalized for kidney failure and then blood clots in his lungs, which led to him learning about his autoimmune disease diagnosis. He told People at the time that his kidney condition is “something I’m going to be living with all my life.” As he said back then, “I feel blessed to be alive.”

Actor and now talk show host Nick Cannon has confirmed he has another baby on the way… the 12th one if our math is correct! The ‘Masked Singer presenter has taken part in a pregnancy photoshoot with Alyssa Scott, the mother of his late son Zen – who died of brain cancer last December aged just five months – just a week after the model had revealed she was pregnant, but hadn’t named who the father was.

For the shoot, the pair posed nearly naked in a bathtub, with one of Gabriel Villalobos’ photos showing Nick kissing Alyssa’s bump while she stood with just a towel over her hair.

Alyssa wrote on Instagram: “This is a MIRACLE a BLESSING. Thank you to my beautiful and talented friend @Glorydayyys for recreating and recapturing this very special moment. This will forever be my favorite piece of artwork. (sic)”

And photographer Gabriel was happy to be involved.

He wrote: “Thank you @itsalyssaemm and @nickcannon for letting me photograph and share this special moment with you guys.(sic)”

Nick is also awaiting the birth of another child, because Abby De La Rosa – with whom he has 16-month-old twins Zion and Zillion – is expecting their third child together.

He has already welcomed three children into the world this year, with Brittany Bell giving birth to their son Rise six weeks ago, just two weeks after LaNisha Cole had daughter Onyx, and another boy, Legendary Love, born to Bre Tiesi in July. The 42-year-old star also has 11-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey, Golden, six, and Powerful Queen, 22 months, with Brittany.

Nick previously admitted he doesn’t believe monogamy is healthy.

He said: “You can still make covenants without getting the government involved, where two people say, ‘We choose to be monogamous because we value this so much, we don’t want anyone to be a part of this energy we have,’ and I don’t feel like that’s healthy. I don’t think monogamy is healthy. I feel like that gets into the space of selfishness and ownership.”

Abby De La Rosa is pregnant! The 31-year-old DJ, who welcomed twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir with Nick Cannon in June 2021, announced on Instagram Friday that she’s expecting. In a short clip shared on her feed, De La Rosa sits on a bed with decorative balloons that read “BABY,” smiling as she places her hand near her baby bump.

She did not share who is the father but added that she will be “posting all the exclusive content and answering the questions ya’ll are dying to know” on her OnlyFans profile. A few weeks after giving birth to her and Cannon’s twin boys last year, De La Rosa revealed that her pregnancy with their sons was something they “were manifesting.

During a Q&A on her Instagram Stories in September, De La Rosa said she first learned that she was expecting in April 2020, but suffered a pregnancy loss. The Masked by La Rose founder then discovered she was pregnant again the following October on her 30th birthday.

When asked by a fan if the pregnancy was planned, De La Rosa replied, “First pregnancy, April 2020, was definitely not planned, but Nick was such a great friend to me and just so good to me, and then our focus became to have a baby.”

She added that though having twins was a surprise, the pregnancy “was planned. Let me just add that this planning wasn’t like us sitting down with a calendar and being like, ‘You gotta be pregnant by this date,’ ” she continued. “It had already been a thought and it happened. It had already been out there, it was something we were manifesting and we were just letting it flow.”

She captioned her post, “When friends turn into family. At the time, De La Rosa also shared that she would like to have more children “if God permits.

Nick Cannon has shared a previously-unseen photo of his late son Zen with four of his siblings, taken before the tot’s sad passing last month.

The “Wild ‘N Out” presenter and Alyssa Scott’s five-month-old son Zen sadly died from brain cancer in August and over the weekend, the 41-year-old star shared a never-before-seen photo of the tot with some of his siblings that had been taken prior to his passing.

The picture featured Nick holding onto Zen, with his and ex-wife Mariah Carey’s 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe either side of him. His daughter was holding one of his younger twins, seven-month-old Zion and Zillion, who the ‘Masked Singer’ host has with Abby De La Rosa, while Nick held the other baby himself.
Nick – who also has Golden, four, and Powerful Queen, 13 months, with Brittany Bell – recently credited his other children for helping him “keep it together” following Zen’s death.

He said: “Having to explain that to 10 year olds and a four year old [Golden] is pretty intense. But their understanding and them being there for me probably helped me keep it together as well as really deal with it. Specifically, even, Roc and Roe. They were there for the entire journey. The “She Ball” star also said his daughter Monroe has been one of his biggest supporters throughout his loss, as he hailed her as his “best therapist”.

He explained: “My daughter, really, she’s so in tune and in line and wise beyond her years. I got a lot of therapists, but she’s probably my best therapist.”

“She keeps me in check. She’s so pure and so honest. To be 10, she asks some really strong and powerful questions. Really, just it’s all out of love. She’s my oldest child. Even though they’re twins, she came out first and she lets everybody know it. She’s helped me keep it strong.

Nick Cannon decided against putting his son through chemotherapy because of his own experience with the treatment. The 41-year-old comedian – whose son Zen died in early December from a rare brain tumour – had been through the treatment himself for autoimmune disease lupus and “didn’t want to see him suffer.

He said: “Alyssa [Scott, Zen’s mother] and I started asking, ‘Is there a way to prevent this? If not, how long do we have?’ The conversations quickly turned to, ‘How can we give him the best life for the time that he does have?’ It could be weeks, it could be months, it could be years. We and I were having quality-of-life conversations. We could have had that existence where he would’ve had to live in the hospital, hooked up to machines, for the rest of the time. From someone who’s had to deal with chemotherapy before, I know that pain. To see that happen to a [then] 2-month-old, I didn’t want that. I didn’t want him to suffer.

The talk show host – who is also father to twins Monroe and Moroccan, 10, from his marriage popstar Mariah Carey, Golden, four and Powerful, one, with Brittany Bell and six-month-old twins Zion and Zillion with DJ Abby De La Rosa –

He told PEOPLE: “You could tell he was struggling,” Cannon recalls. “He was gasping for air. We’d wake up, and he wouldn’t be breathing for maybe five to 10 seconds at a time, and then he’d let out a huge gasp. You could see it frightened him. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced.

The ‘Masked Singer’ judge first revealed the loss of his son during the opening monologue of his self-titled talk show on 07.12.2021, just two days after Zen’s death.

“Your Dad & I will always be here for you both; in complete unison and support. No matter what this world may throw your way, know that forgiveness is key and what is for you – is for YOU! You both are already so loved and we can’t wait to meet you both,” De La Rosa added.

“Our dearest sons – my miracle babies, Thank you for choosing me to be your Mommy,” De La Rosa wrote on Sunday along with her photos, in which she put her baby bump on display, going topless under a pearl beaded chest piece, paired with a long white skirt, featuring a thigh-high leg slit.
