Beyonce was handed the keys to Santa Clara City as she was given the charge of honorary town mayor for her concert at Levi’s Stadium. The pop star got the title of Mayor Lisa Gillmor for one day, following a vote by the Santa Clara city council.

The 41-year-old popstar reacted to the honour saying, “I’m so excited. I’m so happy to be on stage. Y’alls faces are so beautiful. You know today’s special because today…I am the mayor.”

In a statement, a Santa Clara spokesperson expressed their love for the pop star, saying, “The city of Santa Clara is excited about Beyonce’s visit to the world-renowned Levi’s Stadium. Her concerts bring a great deal of energy and excitement.”

Beyonce was set to make a stop at Levi’s Stadium for her Renaissance tour on August 30, 2023, so it was declared that Beyonce would be the honorary mayor of the town for August 30, reports Mid-day.

This is not the first time that any pop star has been honoured like this; earlier, during the Eras Tour stop of Taylor Swift on July 28 and 29, she was also given the title of city mayor.

The craze of Beyonce has not only captivated the city of Santa Clara; previously, in cities like Atlanta and Minneapolis, the songstress was honoured with what they titled “Beyonce Day”. The current “Renaissance Tour” by the hitmaker is estimated to be one of her highest-grossing tours ever.

Beyoncé has a swarm of fans gearing up to see her during her worldwide Renaissance tour. The award-winning singer is bringing her family along on the ride, but during the tour, she will be stopping on a particularly special day – her twins’ sixth birthday.

Rumi and Sir Carter’s birthday falls on June 13, and Bey has blocked off that day to spend with her family, with performances either side of this day. The family will celebrate in private, and will either be located in Marseille, France, where Beyoncé is performing on June 11, or Cologne, Germany, where she will have her next show on June 15.

Throughout their young lives, while Rumi and Sir are the children of A listers, they have managed to mostly stay out of the spotlight. Sir has only been pictured on his mom’s social media a number of times, although Rumi has stepped into the spotlight slightly more, even appearing in a star-studded campaign with big sister Blue back in November 2021. The siblings made a rare appearance with their famous mom in her Ivy Park campaign, which also featured other well-known celebrity children, including Reese Witherspoon’s kids Ava and Deacon Phillippe, and Natalia Bryant, the daughter of Vanessa Bryant and the late Kobe Bryant.

More recently, the little girl was captured on camera by a fan while watching her big sister Blue Ivy, 11, perform on stage in Paris with her mom during the tour. A fan account shared the sweet moment on Twitter, revealing the affectionate bond between Beyoncé’s daughters. In the clip, Rumi was seen in the midst of friends and family at the Stade de France, cheering for her older sister and brandishing a sign that declared: “We Love You Blue!”

The twins’ older sister Blue Ivy has had more of a media presence, however, and as well as performing with her mom on tour, she has stepped out with her famous parents on a number of occasions, as well as appearing on both Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s music and even narrating the audiobook, Hair Love, by Matthew A. Cherry.

She said: “Being a mother, my family is my biggest priority. It’s not many films that the parents can come and feel the way I feel about The Lion King, and feel that and pass that legacy onto their kids.” She also opened up about her surprise at finding out she was expecting twins in her Homecoming documentary in April 2018, which reflected on her headlining Coachella.

The Formation singer said: “I was supposed to do Coachella the year prior, but I got pregnant unexpectedly. And it ended up being twins which was even more of a surprise to me.

Beyoncé and JAY-Z are one of Hollywood’s most notoriously private couples, but they’re even more hush-hush regarding their three children. The couple, who tied the knot in 2008 after dating since 2000, welcomed their first child, daughter Blue Ivy, in January 2012. In 2017, they were joined by twins Rumi and Sir.

In a rare appearance on an episode of Kevin Hart’s Hart to Heart series on Peacock, JAY-Z spoke candidly about how much he tries to prioritize taking time away from music to be with his three kids: “Time is all you have. That’s the only thing we control. It’s how you spend your time. You’re reckless with your time before, you’re just all over the place and then you have to … What are you leaving your house for.

He continued, “Every second that you spend, you’re spending away from the development of these people that you brought here, that you love more than anything in the world. So what are you going to spend that time on? So that changed a lot. That changed practically everything for me.”

Similarly, Beyoncé has also spoken about how “challenging” it can be to strike a balance between motherhood and her career.

I think the most stressful thing for me is balancing work and life,” the musician shared with Elle in 2019. “Making sure I am present for my kids — dropping Blue off at school, taking Rumi and Sir to their activities, making time for date nights with my husband, and being home in time to have dinner with my family — all while running a company can be challenging.

In November 2022, Beyoncé shared a rare family photo from a Halloween photoshoot where she, all three kids and JAY-Z dressed up as characters from Disney’s The Proud Family. Family every single day and night,” she captioned the image on Instagram.

From the arrival of their first child to the internet-breaking announcement of the twins, keep scrolling for a breakdown of Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s three children. The first-time parents welcomed their daughter Blue Ivy in New York City on Jan. 7, 2012. They formally introduced her to the world with a series of photos the following month.

The former Destiny’s Child member first revealed her pregnancy on August 28, 2011, at the MTV VMAs in Los Angeles while cradling a bump on the red carpet. During her “Love on Top” performance, she told the audience, “I want you to stand up on your feet. I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside me. Blue has already started following in the footsteps of her musical parents. When she was only two days old, her vocals were featured on her father’s song “Glory,” which earned her the title of a Guinness World Record holder for being the youngest person to have a song appear on a Billboard chart.

In October 2022, Blue joined her parents at the 2022 Wearable Art Gala in L.A. During the event, Blue bid over $80,000 on a pair of Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, which her grandmother and host of the event, Tina Knowles, was wearing that night. In a video, Blue was seen waving her paddle while wearing a blue dress. She was eventually outbid by the founder of Mielle Organics, Monique Rodriguez, and her husband Melvin, who bid $105,000 on the earrings.

After a four-year hiatus, Beyoncé returned to the stage for an epic performance in Dubai in January 2023. Blue made a special appearance during the hour-long set to sing a duet of “Brown Skin Girl.” The mother-daughter duo were impeccably dressed for the performance — Blue in a red, sparkling ensemble and Beyoncé in a canary yellow corset-style gown.

Blue made another public appearance at the 2023 Super Bowl with her dad a few weeks later. The father-daughter duo were seen arriving in all-black outfits with graphic T-shirts and sunglasses. JAY-Z also served as the ultimate Instagram dad at the event, taking photos of Blue in the Eagles’ end zone ahead of the game.

Egyptian site over an exhibition exploring the influence of ancient Egypt on black musicians. The National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden said Egyptian authorities had accused it of “falsifying” history through its showcase of work by artists including Beyoncé, Nas and Miles Davis. It called the argument “unfounded” and expressed disappointment at the ban. The event prompted an Egyptian MP to ask the government what it was doing to “confront the distortion of Egyptian civilization”.

The museum also said that it had received comments via social media that were “racist or offensive in nature” since the exhibition opened. The dispute comes only weeks after Egyptian authorities condemned a new Netflix docudrama series depicting Queen Cleopatra as a black African as a “falsification of history”.

The antiquities ministry insisted that Cleopatra had “Hellenistic (Greek) features”, including “light skin

It features photographs and music videos showing how Beyoncé and Rihanna had both appeared as Queen Nefertiti; a modern sculpture of Nas based on the famous gold mask of King Tutankhamun; several of Sun Ra’s Egyptian-inspired costumes; and songs by artists ranging from Nina Simone and Fela Kuti to Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. The exhibition also looks at what scientific research has revealed about ancient Egypt and Nubia and discusses how they have been studied from Eurocentric and Afrocentric perspectives.

The RMO said in a statement on Wednesday that it was disappointed to be informed in a recent email from a senior Egyptian antiquities official that it was no longer allowed to excavate at the Saqqara necropolis near Cairo after almost 50 years of work there.

“The Egyptian authorities have every right to terminate a permit for an excavation; after all, it is their land and their heritage. However, the museum considers the underlying argument for this decision incorrect.”

It added: “The Egyptian authorities conclude that our current exhibition… is about ‘falsifying’ the ancient Egyptian history. This political argument is used to express the dissatisfaction with the exhibition and to ban our excavation.” The RMO also expressed surprise that the argument was being made by “people who have not actually seen the exhibition

Beyoncé made a return to the stage over the weekend, performing in Dubai at the grand opening of Atlantis The Royal, a new luxury resort. During Saturday’s event, the powerhouse singer performed a variety of hits from throughout the years, starting with a cover of Etta James’ “At Last.

Other tracks she performed included “Ave Maria,” “Halo,” “Countdown,” and “Crazy in Love. The 41-year-old also performed “Brown Skin Girl” with her 11-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy.

Assisting Beyoncé singer in the performance was a 48-person all-female orchestra, Firdaus Orchestra, and “America’s Got Talent” winners The Mayas, an all-female precision dance group from Lebanon, among others.

The 60-minute set marked Beyoncé’s first live performance since 2020 and was attended by around 1,000 people, as well as her husband Jay-Z, her parents and family.

The performance drew some backlash from critics who called out the singer’s decision to perform in Dubai despite the anti-LGBTQ policies of the United Arab Emirates. Some pointed out on social media that the singer’s latest “Renaissance” album was inspired by Black queer culture and also questioned her decision to perform in Dubai when she has worked to champion the LGBTQ community with her platform throughout her career.

Beyoncé understood her power when she became a mom

Beyoncé “understood her power” when she became a mom. The “Lemonade” singer – who has Blue Ivy, eight, and three-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, with her husband Jay Z – admits motherhood has been her “biggest inspiration” and she wants her children to grow up feeling “truly seen and valued.

She said: “Something cracked open inside of me right after giving birth to my first daughter. From that point on, I truly understood my power, and motherhood has been my biggest inspiration.

“It became my mission to make sure she lived in a world where she feels truly seen and valued.

“I was also deeply inspired by my trip to South Africa with my family. And, after having my son, Sir Carter, I felt it was important to uplift and praise our boys and to assure that they grow up with enough films, children’s books and music that promote emotional intelligence, self-value and our rich history. That’s why the film is dedicated to him.

And the 39-year-old singer admits that 2020 has been tough but she has thoroughly enjoyed being able to spend time with her family as she has been putting out projects “non-stop” since she joined the music industry when she was just 15-years-old.

Asked in the December issue of British Vogue magazine if she feels the last year has changed her, she added: “Absolutely changed. It would be difficult to experience life in a pandemic and the current social unrest and not be changed. I have learnt that my voice is clearer when I am still.
“I released Lemonade during the Formation World Tour, gave birth to twins, performed at Coachella, directed Homecoming, went on another world tour with Jay, then Black Is King, all back to back. It’s been heavy and hectic.

“I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on building my legacy and representing my culture the best way I know-how. Now, I’ve decided to give myself permission to focus on my joy.

Beyoncé is donating $1 million (about R16.5 million) to black-owned businesses in celebration of her birthday. The ‘Black Is King‘ star turned 39 on Friday, and as an early birthday gift from the singer, she announced this week she plans to give the hefty sum to the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP), to help support small black-owned businesses.

Beyoncé made the donation through her BeyGOOD charity initiative, and announced the news in a statement on her website, which read: ”Proud to announce $1M in additional funds from Beyonce to help black-owned small businesses. Round two of funding opens this month with our partner, NAACP.

NAACP also released their own statement, in which they said they are ”proud to partner” with BeyGOOD, and revealed that the $1 million donation would split into grants of $10 000 each.

They said: ”NAACP Empowerment Programs is delighted to administer a meaningful program in partnership with BeyGOOD’s Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund to assist our small business communities that have been directly impacted by recent events across the country.

Busiswa, who features on the track My Power, wrote on Instagram: “I’ve realized that they’re never going to take my power.”

She said she and Moonchild were flown first-class to Los Angeles to shoot their parts.

“When I got to set we started shooting and I tried being calm, being a lady, sassy and groovy,” she said.

“One of the producers after the first take came to me and said ‘we know this is not you, we need you to do you and if you are doing too much we will pull you back. We need you to go all the way’.

“I then got excited and I was trying to do as much as I could, particularly African dances to make my fellow Africans proud,” she said.

Moonchild, who also features on My Power, tweeted: “Your dreams are valid! Be rejected for being yourself because you’ll never question the love you receive from being yourself! Do you, the world will adjust, I live by this.”

Actress Nandi Madida said: “I’m living my ancestor’s wildest dreams! Thank you for the love.”

It was positively received by the whole of Mzansi.

One response on Twitter was: “Beyonce was so lucky to secure bookings to work with these legends. She must never forget this!”
