South African businessman, Seth Molapo is not happy with Makhadzi.

The businessman from Steelpoort, Limpopo, told the publication he booked the singer to perform for workers earlier this month but she didn’t pitch up.

He said he paid her management over R95 000 for her to appear at the Employees On Safety event, but he only got a R40 000 refund.

“I booked her for the event on 4 October and made the payment on 28 September. She didn’t show up, saying she was sick after her one-woman show on 1 October,” he said.

Seth said he called her boss, Molau Rammala from Open Mic Productions, for a refund.

“He only refunded me R40 000 and promised to pay back the balance on Friday, 7 October.

“He then texted me saying they’d make the payment on Monday, 10 October.”

Seth said weeks later, he was still waiting for his money. “He always came up with stories and now he has started ignoring my calls.”

Seth said he managed to get hold of Rammala on 18 October and he promised to transfer the money by 8pm that day, but it didn’t happen. He said the no-show harmed his reputation.

Open Mic managing director Nkateko Maluleke said Calvin Ramotsebedi, an agent and promoter who worked on the event with Seth, told them only to return half the money.

Calvin said Seth should refund the clients he organized the event for as it was a mess. “A day before the event, he didn’t tell his clients the singer wouldn’t be able to make it,” he said.

Calvin said he’d known Seth for a while and had used him for previous events. “Open Mic wanted to bring another artist because Makhadzi wasn’t well. Seth should have told his clients everything,” he said.
