Baby Mamma and 2 Men Arrested for Murder

We are living in a crazy world… There was chaos when a baby mama and two men were arrested on Saturday, 24 December, for the murder of Kiwiet Mokoena and pregnant Nokuphila Dladla. The couple, originally from Free State, went missing from their place in Vanderbijlpark, Vaal, on 14 December.

Nokuphila had allegedly called Kiwiet to come home with a packet of chips, and that was the last time friends and family heard from them. Kiwiet’s cousin, Victor Dlamini (44), said he didn’t report to work on 15 December, raising alarm.

“The family went to look for him at home, and found the door open and blood stains on his hat. They suspected the baby mama.”

According to Victor, she had been threatening Nokuphila since finding out that Kiwiet had moved on. “When she learnt they were expecting a baby, her threats increased as she told Nokuphila they were going to lose their man and no one would have him.” Kiwiet’s brother, Mohapi (39), told Daily Sun that cops called to tell them they had arrested three people.

“They found Kiwiet’s car, sold to a man in Heidelberg. This led to the arrest of two foreign nationals who pointed to the baby mama as the mastermind. “She paid them to kidnap the couple and find a gun. Cops told us the men said the baby mama paid R3 000, and is the one who shot the couple,” he said.

Police said that they have arrested three suspects including an ex-girlfriend for the alleged murder of a 35-year-old man and his 29-year-old pregnant partner, Kiwiet Mokoenaand Nokuphila Dladla.

Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said the suspects, aged between 30 and 32 are facing three counts of murder, kidnapping and house robbery among other possible additional charges. “A thorough search and investigation led to the arrest of three suspects in Heidelberg and the discovery of the bodies in an open field in Heidelberg on Friday, 23 December,” Masondo said in a statement. The suspects are expected to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 28 December.

Mandla “Mampintsha” Mamphumula death was confirmed on Saturday, 24 December 2022. An untimely passing that was confirmed following the news that a week earlier Mampintsha had suffered a stroke due to undisclosed reasons.

In light of the tragedy, fans wondered how wife and fellow Gqom artist, Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Maphumulo, formerly, Simelane, was coping. More so considering that she and Mampintsha shared their first and only child together, Sponge, who is still a toddler.

While Afrotainment and DJ Tira spearheaded the social media update campaign, not much was seen nor heard from Babes Wodumo. This is as the star has been off social media for months following her many mishaps and fights with people on social media.

However, now there have been photos that have surfaced of Babes Wodumo mourning the loss of her husband.
The last update that was shared on Babes Wodumo and her state of mind in light of the passing of her husband painted a grave image. This is off the allegations that Babes was distraught as she found out that Mampintsha was late like the rest of us, on social media.

A nurse who was allegedly in Mampintsha’s ward was the one to reveal the matter on social media, which subsequently went viral. Therefore, it was no surprise when the disheartening news that when Mampintsha’s body arrived home, Babes allegedly threw herself on the coffin of her late husband.

However, with all these new reports, no one had actually seen images of Babes Wodumo. But there has now been circulated images of Babes Wodumo in mourning. While there is no clear source as to where the original images were first posted.

In the shared series of images, Babes Wodumo is seen sitting on the mourning mattress with her sister and an unknown family member. Mampintha’s mother is not in the images shared, which might be proof of the contention between the Simelanes and Maphumulos as they have been accused of preventing Mampintsha’s family access.

More than just the images of Babes Wodumo in mourning surfacing. News of Mampintsha’s memorial and funeral service have been revealed. Mampintsha’s funeral and memorial will be hosted by leading Durban based funeral parlour Icebolethu.

As such, official word was shared by the funeral parlour. It confirmed that the memorial service is set to take place on Thursday, 29 December 2022 at the eThekwini Community Church. The funeral is expected to have a higher volume of attendees as this is scheduled to take place on Friday, 30 December 2022 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC).

It is currently unconfirmed whether or not both or one of the ceremonies will be able to be streamed or not. This is as with the pandemic slowly being a thing of the past, it is up to the family and friends to decide whether they want to share the memorial and funeral service with the rest of the county who are not in Durban.

Bob Marley’s Grandson Jo Mersa Marley has died

The Marley family has lost one of their own. Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley, who is the son of Stephen Marley and grandson of Bob Marley, has died at age 31, a rep for the late musician confirmed to Rolling Stone Dec. 27. A cause of death has not been revealed.

In the wake of his passing, public figures have voiced tributes for the Jamaican-born artist and the legacy he has left behind—one that was rich in music.

“My heartfelt sympathies to Joseph’s friends and associates and to the Reggae music fraternity and fans everywhere,” Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness wrote in a Dec. 27 tweet. “His untimely passing at the young age of 31y.o. is a huge loss to the music as we look to the next generation.”

Holness added in a follow-up message, “May he find Eternal Peace as we mourn his loss during this season of goodwill when we celebrate with family and friends our love for each other.
Meanwhile, Mark J. Golding, who serves as the president of the People’s National Party, also took to the app to mourn the “tragic loss” of Jo Mersa.“A talented young reggae artiste, son of Stephen Marley & grandson of Bob Marley at only 31 yrs old,” Golding wrote on Twitter Dec. 27. “The loss of a child is a devastating blow no parent should face, my condolences to Stephen & the entire family

Having been born in the Marley family, which includes Ziggy, Sharon and Cedella Marley, Jo Mersa was no stranger to music from a very young age. Back in 2014, he recalled being brought up on stage at Melody Makers concerts to assist in performing the hit “Look Who’s Dancing.”

“We would get up on stage with my brothers and sisters,” Jo Mersa told Rolling Stone in 2014, “and there was a certain time where they would just give us the mic and we’d do our certain favorite part of the song.
And it wouldn’t be long until Jo Mersa was putting out his own tracks. In 2014, he released his debut EP Comfortable, which, according to Rolling Stone, features dancehall, R&B and EDM sounds.

The project was a product of the fact that while Jo Mersa was essentially reggae royalty, he was looking to explore in music.

“I am one of the new generation of Marleys, but I am still experimenting at the same time,” he told Rolling Stone in 2014. “My plan is to do something new with my roots.

That debut EP would not be the last work Jo Mersa would put out. In 2020, he would release Everlasting (Remixes) and in 2021, he would put out an EP titled Eternal, which features seven tracks.
