South African media personality, Minnie Dlamini-Jones, is still on a high after giving birth to her baby boy this past week, as announced in an Instagram post on Monday, 16 November 2020. With merely a few hours after giving birth, it appears as though motherhood has already taken its toll on her. Whilst we can imagine that she is the most amazing mama to Netha Makhosini Jones, she got real on Twitter, explaining that is much harder than it looks!

In a Tweet on Tuesday, 17 November 2020, the new mama explained that being a parent is not for the faint-hearted, and has led her to have mad respect for parents – even more so than she ever did before. She acknowledged that she had Netha’s grandmothers to help her out in the first few days, but gave major credit to her hubby Quinton.

She stated, “Mad respect to all parents doing their best at raising their kids. This experience is no joke!!! So blessed to have such amazing support, my moms and most especially my amazing husband (I could cry at how great he is with the kid) Nothing great ever comes easy.”

Many of her fans reassured her that it takes time to get used to being a parent and that she will soon learn everything naturally. Some however made mention of the fact that Minnie referred to parenting as an “experience”, and corrected her by explaining that it is a life-long commitment and not just a passing-by moment. Rodney Tom tweeted, “Hebana, the child is two days old and already you’re talking about the experience? You’ve rushed to tweet this tweet, you should’ve wait for a month or two nyana so.”, and Ntombela responded with, “Less than 72hrs. Already a motivation speaker of motherhood?!!”.

Minnie’s pregnancy journey has been well documented on her social media pages, where she has shared her expanding belly bump and her excitement leading up to the day. For her pregnancy reveal Minnie went back to her roots. “In an attempt to pay respect to my culture, I did some research on how a Zulu pregnant woman looked like back in the day.” She explained. “Our culture is so rich with amazing clothing, patterns, colours and designs, all of which have symbolic meaning.”

Her shoot and outfit were carefully thought and planned out. Every element of her outfit carried a deeper meaning. The pictures were taken from her own yard.
