Maskandi star Mthandeni Manqele in trouble with a popular church leader

Mthandeni “Igcokama Elisha” Manqele has ruffled Shembe Church members’ feathers.

The controversial maskandi star Mthandeni “Igcokama Elisha” Manqele is at odds with the Nazareth Baptist Church, better known as Shembe.

The controversial maskandi star released a song on his new album titled Imfolomane, calling himself Unyazi LweZulu.

This has angered the congregants, who are also called AmaNazarethaincluding amakhosi. They say Mthandeni will be cursed for using the name of their leader whom they regard as their Lord.

Inkosi Wellington Qwabe said:Mthandeni is using a bad way to get publicity: “He’ll block his luck. Unyazi is here to heal people. If he calls himself that, he’ll be cursed. We’ll summon him and explain this to him.”

Ebuhleni Shembe Church spokesman Thokozani Mncwabe said Mthandeni has crossed the line.

“No person is called Unyazi LweZulu. He’s the one and only leader,” he said.

Mthandeni said: “I regard myself as Unyazi (lightning) because of how I do things.
