Mthandeni “Igcokama Elisha” Manqele has ruffled Shembe Church members’ feathers.

The controversial maskandi star Mthandeni “Igcokama Elisha” Manqele is at odds with the Nazareth Baptist Church, better known as Shembe.

The controversial maskandi star released a song on his new album titled Imfolomane, calling himself Unyazi LweZulu.

This is the name of the popular and respected Shembe Church leader on the Ebuhleni side, the Mduduzi who have millions of supporters. He also uses the distinctive “Amen” of the Nazareth Baptist Church, pronounced as “Ameeen”.

In the Zulu song titled NgiwuNyazi LweZulu, Mthandeni can be heard singing, in part,I defeated Corona, I defeated lockdown I was standing in the mountains and I also defeated magistrates and prosecutors. “I’m Unyazi LweZulu”.

This has angered the congregants, who are also called AmaNazarethaincluding amakhosi. They say Mthandeni will be cursed for using the name of their leader whom they regard as their Lord.

The majority of KZN amakhosi are part of Shembe church and Last year, he was taken to task by amakhosi after he released his album, Dog Style.
Inkosi Wellington Qwabe said:Mthandeni is using a bad way to get publicity: “He’ll block his luck. Unyazi is here to heal people. If he calls himself that, he’ll be cursed. We’ll summon him and explain this to him.”

Ebuhleni Shembe Church spokesman Thokozani Mncwabe said Mthandeni has crossed the line.

“No person is called Unyazi LweZulu. He’s the one and only leader,” he said.

Mthandeni said: “I regard myself as Unyazi (lightning) because of how I do things.

“I arrived at the Gcwalisa iMabhida Music Festival organised by Khuzani Mpungose uninvited like lightning.”Everything came to a standstill.” “I defeated magistrates and prosecutors when I was arrested for klapping a journalist in 2017.”
