Ex-Scandal! actor Hungani Ndlovu (Romeo) speaks out as he joins Skeem Saam
Former Scandal! actor and dancer Hungani Ndlovu is the new Thabo “Tbose” Maputla on the popular SABC1 soapie, Skeem Saam.
The Joburg-based actor said the role, which was previously played by Cornet Mamabolo, was a challenging one to take on but he was excited as it would allow him to grow.
The 29-year-old told the publication it was a big role as it was recast of a pre-existing character and it took him out of his comfort zone.
“I am super excited about this role. It’s a huge opportunity to be on a show like Skeem Saam,” he said.
Hungani said he had to change his mindset to connect with his character, Tbose.
He said it was not about replacing Cornet as he’s irreplaceable, but rather about creating a new character for the audience to engage with.
“I had to work on a lot of things as an individual. I had to work on my insecurities as some people will love it while others won’t,” Hungani said.
Hungani, who played Romeo on Scandal!, said he feels blessed but also nervous at the same time.
“People can expect to see me returning as Tbose who left to go overseas. They are going to experience a different side of him,” he said.
Hungani said he’ll be causing a lot of havoc with his character.

“Going to the auditions for it was something else. At some point I thought I wasn’t going to get it as there were lots of great talents during the auditions,” he said.
The actor said he was already getting lots of support from his fans and family.
Hungani told Daily Sun said he’s going to surprise many viewers with his role, adding that he had to let God be in control and do his best.
He said he hopes the audience will enjoy his take on Tbose.
