Ms Dippy thanks the late Dumi Masilela for helping her escape a toxic relationship

Ms Dippy thanks the late Dumi Masilela for helping her escape a toxic relationship

Actress Hloni Padi, better known as DJ Ms Dippy, has reflected on how the late Dumi Masilela’s presence in her life helped her in her work and personal life.

Dumi was killed in a botched hijacking in 2017. At the time Dumi was an actor on Rhythm City with a cast that included Ms Dippy.

“Dumi was the first person I worked with just as I got onto Rhythm City, his precise words were, ‘You only have one opportunity, grab this character and make it yours, do you! And don’t worry, we are all here to catch and support you!’. That’s when I knew I was at home,” she said.

The actress remembered how Dumi always left them with food for thought and always encouraged her and other colleagues to take care of their spiritual being. She remembered how she and many of the other young actors would be confused over the things Dumi attempted to teach them.

“I remember how he left us so confused but it was some serious food for thought. He said to me, ‘If you were to pass away and leave earth today, do you think you would be spiritually happy in the afterworld?’ I said yes, and he said, ‘You’re not listening, think about it and get back to me.’ Bruh if I can tell you how confused I was! A few months later, I finally understood his question through his passing but couldn’t get back to him.”

An emotional Ms Dippy took time out to thank Dumi in his absence for all the lessons he taught her that continue to live on.

“Dumi, I’m so emotional typing this but thank you so much for continuously pushing me as a big brother, thank you for encouraging me to get out of a toxic relationship, and thank you for being so wise at such a young age!” she said.

Somizi's husband Mohale takes time to teach grade 11 pupils during lockdown for free

Reality star Mohale Motaung-Mhlongo is proving that there is more to him than just his good looks and a bright smile – he’s quite intelligent too.

While South Africans are on a nationwide lockdown with restricted movements, he is doing his bit to help learners with their studies.

He is currenly tutoring grade 11 learners English on YouTube and Facebook via a live stream on Africa Teen Geek accounts.

Mohale goes through previous exam papers to give tips on how they should go about answering and other techniques.

This is both beneficial for learners and parents who have internet access but have not idea of how to go about home schooling.

“Please share and let’s help students to keep learning during this lockdown,” he posted on Instagram.

Mohale might not have his own kids but he does have a stepdaughter, Bahumi by his husband Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung. He has in the past expressed that he wants to be a father.

He put it on record that he wants to have a biological child even though they pair might adopt. If all goes according to plan, then will definitely be tutoring them too in the future.

Speaking to Drum, the comedian said they would all much rather be home but they’re trying to make the best out of the situation. Because of this whole lockdown thing, we would rather be home just because it’s so much easier in an environment you’re familiar with.

“However, it’s not all doom and gloom. We are with family here, so the self-isolation is also an opportunity for us to get to know our extended family better,” she said. The comedian has shared moments of their lives in lockdown and has encouraged people to stay home and stay safe on her social media. She has been making the most of her situation and thanks to technology has been able to still do her job on Motsweding FM.

I think a lot of parent will soon realize they owe their teachers and nannies an apology. ? Welcome to lockdown SA??

Tumi recently shared on Twitter that the one thing she hasn’t been winning at is taking over the teachers’ job now that her kids have to be homeschooled.

“Dear school. I’m sure my kids are competent. I can’t vouch for obedient. I have tried. The law says I can’t use old school methods. Lockdown is long. You are getting them back as I got them. Good luck and G*d bless,” she tweeted. Tumi has also given a shoutout to her hubby for all that he has been doing for her and the kids on Instagram.

“My boo thang. My self-isolation person. My hunbun. Mnxm lock me down with this guy any day, no limit. Although I fear he is typing ‘save me’ shame he’s married to ALL of me,” she joked.

75-year-old man beats Covid-19 despite critical health conditions

A post of a 75-year-old man from the US who beat Covid-19 despite critical health conditions has gone viral.

Peter Kerpen, who is the father of US policy analyst Phil Kerpen and author Dave Kerpen, tested positive for the virus but was discharged from Montefiore Hospital in New York City, US, after making a full recovery on Tuesday.

Dave shared the photo of their father with the caption, “We can all use some good news.”

“My dad Peter Kerpen, has emphysema and COPD, was discharged from Montefiore Hospital after going to the ER last week with a fever and difficulty breathing and subsequently testing positive for Covid-19. He beat it,” wrote Dave on Twitter.

COPD is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a common lung disease that makes it hard to breathe.

According to Phil, Peter beat cancer last year so Covid-19 “was nothing”.

“Dad went home today … crushed coronavirus even though he is 75 and has limited lung function … the greatest,” said Phil.

The post offered hope for some social media users.
