WATCH | Mome's daughter Teamo is frustrated by lockdown and demands to go outside
Toll Ass Mo and Mome Mahlangu’s younger daughter Teamo Mahlangu is following in her sister’s footsteps in becoming one of Mzansi’s favourite celebrity children.

Just like her big sis Khumo, Teamo isn’t scared to speak her mind. She recently shared her frustration at having to stay inside during the lockdown.

All she wants is to get inside the car, play music and drive around the estate.

In the video, posted by Mome on Instagram this week, Teamo is seen instructing her mom to come with her. Sis was even standing at the door ready to go.

Mome asks her where she is going, before Mo grabs her hand and is led outside.

Connie Ferguson's grandson Ronewa turned 5 and she’s a gushing gran

She might be one of the most celebrated actresses in Mzansi but when Connie Ferguson is with her grandson, she can’t help but be star-struck.

The Queen star loves being a grandmother to little Ronewa and this week took to Instagram to celebrate his fifth birthday and talk a walk down memory lane.

“Glamma’s star turns 5! Where has time gone? Not too long ago he was learning to talk (now he talks nonstop!), learning to walk (now he can’t sit still!), learning to pray. Now he’s teaching us about the dangers of volcanoes, teaching us new dance moves, and literally correcting everything we do because he can do it better!”

She said he is “growing up too fast!” and prayed he would grow up to be a “God-loving, respectful, compassionate and loving human being who values life and appreciates the gift that it is”.

She also shared snaps of the pair over the years.

Connie’s daughter Lesedi gave birth to Ronewa in 2015 and granny has been smitten ever since.

During an interview with True Love magazine, Connie said she and her daughter grew even closer after she fell pregnant.

“Sometimes I’m mom, sometimes I’m grandma – but whatever he calls me, it is with pure, unadulterated love! Oh what a blessing Ronewa is in our home! I love him so!” she added on Instagram.

“We thank God for our children, our children’s children, for family.”

#TheQueenMzansi hires Jessica Nkosi & Menzi Ngubane join , is Shaka rising from the dead?

The Queen fans are probably perplexed at the news that their favourite character is making his return to the popular Mzansi Magic telenovela.

In a dramatic twist of events, SK Khoza who plays the rebellious and satirical Shaka Khoza will be returning back from the dead after he was killed off by his brother Kagiso.

#TheQueenMzansi hires Jessica Nkosi & Menzi Ngubane join , is Shaka rising from the dead?

When news of his departure broke, anguished fans started a petition to bring him back or try and overturn the production’s decision. However, confirming the news of his exit, Shaka who was on the telenovela since its inception, said that chapter was closed.

The head of PR and Publicity for Mzansi Magic, Philly Kubheka broke the news on Twitter and joked that he might return as a ghost.

At the time of his exit, The Fergusons were scrutinized for allegedly exploiting their actors. Speculations were thrown around on what could be the cause of his sudden exit. Many thought SK was part of the group of actors to bash the production company after being unfairly dismissed, however, he was said to continue with the production house on another drama series called Kings Of Joburg.

Avid viewers of The Queen can also expect some major twists and turns as 2 new additions to the telenovela are set to shake things up. Former Isibaya actors Jessica Nkosi and Menzi Ngubane will be joining the cast. This comes after the actors left Isibaya around the same time.

In a statement, Khubeka said that the introduction of South African legendary actors will bring authenticity to the telenovela.

“One of the reasons that this imaginative South African drama series captured the hearts and minds of the Mzansi Magic audience is because of its diverse and impeccable talent.

“We are excited that one of the channel’s most loved telenovela’s is set to feature South African legends as they showcase their craft and add even greater authenticity and flavour to the story,” he said.

SK Khoza has not said anything as yet about his return, as fans pester him for answers, he instead talked about ‘seeing Shona Ferguson on set soon’ for the shooting of Kings Of Joburg.

58% of South Africans killed by Covid-19 are men, Mkhize reveals

58% of South Africans killed by Covid-19 are men, Mkhize reveals

Demographic information released for the first time shows that 58% of the 123 South Africans killed by Covid-19 are men.

The biggest group of people to have died are in the 60-69 age group, health minister Zweli Mkhize said on Saturday.

This age group accounted for 24.4% (30) of the deaths so far, with the 70-79 age group next, at 22.7% (28).

Mkhize said an analysis of hospitalised patients showed that “consistent with evidence emerging worldwide, hypertension, diabetes and cardiac disease are the three most common comorbidities associated with serious illness from Covid-19”.

Announcing 385 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, bringing the total to 6,336 since the first case on March 5, Mkhize said other comorbidities recorded were chronic pulmonary disease, asthma, chronic renal disease, cancer, HIV and tuberculosis (both active and historical).

“I would therefore like to urge our millions of South Africans who are over 63 years of age and those who live with these conditions to take extra precautions as we ease the lockdown,” said Mkhize.

The Western Cape, with 2,700 confirmed coronavirus cases, now accounts for 42% of the national total.

Gauteng has 1,598 cases, KwaZulu-Natal 1,051, the Eastern Cape 732, the Free State 121, Mpumalanga 40, Limpopo 36, North West 35 and the Northern Cape 23.

Mkhize said the 13,164 tests conducted in the past 24 hours had set a new record, and took the total to 230,686.

The seven new deaths on Saturday were in the Western Cape (new total 123) and Free State (6), he said. KZN has had 34 deaths, the Eastern Cape 13, Gauteng 12 and Limpopo 2.

The youngest person to die was in the 20-29 age group, and two of the dead were between 90 and 99. Other age groups where fatalities have occurred are: 30-39, 6; 40-49, 19; 50-59, 23; and 80-89, 14.

Boity hopeful for second season of reality show

Boity hopeful for second season of reality show

Boity is bidding farewell to her successful reality show, and while fans are wondering how Wednesday nights will ever be the same again, the media personality and rapper has hinted that the show could return for a second season.

Although she was hesitant at first to have her own reality show, she has said several times on social media that Boity: Own Your Throne has allowed her to control her narrative.

Speaking on Metro FM’s Morning Flava this week, Boity opened up about her reality show and said she was excited about the possibility of a second season.

“At first I was taking my chance with the idea of a reality show. After I saw the way it unfolded and responses I got from everyone, it was far better than I thought it would be – so much so that I would really love to do another season.”

In her first season, viewers watched Boity pursue her musical and spiritual journey. They were also introduced to her “melodramatic” now-former friend Bobby Blanco, and her “very on top of things” manager Bash.

They also got to see the dog lover side of Boity, who owns two Pomeranian puppies, Asante and Sana.

In an interview with Glamour magazine recently, Boity explained her initial hesitance with having a reality show.

“I’m a private person who usually shies away from revealing too much of my personal life on social media or in interviews. As long as you’re in this industry, you barely get to keep anything to yourself,” she said.

“Even though I’m used to being in front of the camera, having them in my home took quite an adjustment. I was strict about the areas the crew could access. The only rooms you’ll see on the show are my lounge and kitchen. No one was allowed in my bedroom or bathroom because boundaries were important.”

Two police officers were killed when they were hit by a suspected drunk driver at a Covid-19 roadblock on the R594 in the Free State on Friday night.

Police spokesperson Brig Vishnu Naidoo said the officers, stationed at Deneysville, had been inspecting a truck they had stopped when a bakkie ploughed through the roadblock.

“A driver who was allegedly heavily under the influence of alcohol hit the policemen, despite them being attired in reflector jackets,” he said.

The man was arrested at the scene and faces charges of culpable homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as contravention of disaster management regulations, Naidoo added.

National police commissioner Gen Khehla Sitole sent his condolences to those survived by the policemen.

“We trust that the man responsible for their deaths, who is currently behind bars, will be served with a deserving punishment if convicted,” he said.
